What if the sixth member of the miracle generation was really what we think? What if Kuroko was a real ghost? What if only the best players could see it? What if he could only interact with the basketball? And only touch the ball and the players of the miracle generation?

For those of you who don’t know an urban fantasy romance is a sub genre of fantasy romance where fantastical elements are integrated into a modern, recognizable setting. Think of stories with magic, mythical creatures, or supernatural events woven into the fabric of everyday life in a real-world city or location. You could also make up a city/location. Please remember to include at least one fantasy element and then, of course, the romance.

Capter 1: The Quiet Café

I met her on a cloudy Wednesday. She sat at the corner table of the small café I visited every morning, wrapped in a grey scarf and lost in thought, staring at the steam curling from her untouched coffee. Her name was Amahle.

She looked like someone who had just walked through a storm—not drenched, but damp from all the weight she had carried. You could see it in the way she avoided eye contact, the way she held her mug as if it grounded her.

I didn’t mean to intrude, but something in me nudged forward.

"Bad weather for hot coffee," I said, gesturing at the window where the sky threatened rain.

She looked up, half-smiling. “Bad weather is perfect for coffee.”

Chapter 2: Pieces and Puzzles

Over the next few weeks, we became familiar strangers. She came every Wednesday. I started coming every Wednesday. Then every Tuesday. Then every day. Sometimes we sat at different tables, pretending not to notice one another. But we always did.

Eventually, she started sharing bits of her story—like puzzle pieces she didn’t want anyone to see too clearly. She had just left a long-term relationship. The kind that makes you forget who you were before it. The kind that breaks things deep inside.

“I’m still picking up the pieces,” she confessed once. “I don’t know how to be with anyone right now.”

“I’m not asking you to be with me,” I said. “Just sit with me. That’s enough.”

Chapter 3: The Soft Becoming

Love didn’t arrive loudly. It came in soft moments. In how she began to laugh at my terrible jokes. In how she started remembering my coffee order. In the way she relaxed, little by little, like a clenched fist finally letting go.

We walked in the park one afternoon, leaves crunching underfoot. She reached for my hand without thinking. When she noticed, she tried to pull away.

“It’s okay,” I whispered. “You don’t owe me anything.”

“I know,” she said, holding tighter.

She was still healing. There were days she would retreat, disappear into silence. Days she doubted herself, and us. But I didn’t ask her to be okay. I just stayed.

Chapter 4: The Bloom

Spring came slowly, like her smile. One day, she showed up with her hair down, no scarf, eyes brighter.

“I told my therapist about you,” she said over coffee.

“Oh? And what did I do?” I teased.

“She asked if I was in love. I said... maybe.”

I didn’t rush her. I didn’t need the label. I already knew. Love wasn’t the grand declaration. It was the quiet truth between us, spoken without words.

Chapter 5: The Healing Together

We never became perfect. Healing isn’t about perfection. It’s about learning to breathe again. Together, we learned. We built something not from the ruins, but from the strength she found in surviving.

She once told me, “You met me at my most broken.”

And I said, “No. I met you at your most real.”

I’ve been super into WWE lately so I’m curious to see who else is a fan and has their own WWE Superstar/storyline.

Here’s mine as an example. You don’t have to follow the exact format but the more info you include, the better :)

Guardian Angel: sometimes shows her wings, sometimes doesn’t. When things are unfair, or someone is in danger of serious injury from their opponent, she appears. She despises those who cheat. She also hates braggers and unfair outcomes. Rarely will she ever actually be in a match, especially a 1 vs 1, but occasionally she might be in a tag team, or a big PPV like WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble. She’ll only be in a 1v1 if she’s challenged. She doesn’t back down from challenges, but she doesn’t issue them as she doesn’t really care about winning titles, only about protecting her friends and keeping things fair.

If those closest to her (like Cody) start going down a dark/heel path, she’ll fight to bring them back to good.

In this contest I want you to make up a character. They can be from anywhere. They can be anything. The one requirement is that you put something tragic into the characters life. Whether form your own life or completely made up. If you pull it from your own life I’m sorry that you had to go through it. But it probably made you stronger for it, even if you don’t believe so. This contest is all about minstrels. Medieval poets, singers, and storytellers, minstrels were a fun source of entertainment!

RULES

-Must be about a minstrel. I don't care what they do. Maybe they get mixed up in something they shouldn't have. A comic-relief minstrel would make my day! It can be historically accurate, or it can be fantasy. Go crazy!

-Swearing, blood, gore, hanging, the plague; it's all allowed.

-NSFW, smut, graphic sexual content; not allowed. This contest is rated PG-13. References to sexual situations are allowed, but keep it classy.

-Alcohol and drugs; both are allowed. Just make sure that the use of your chosen drugs are accurate for the time period! Or, if you go the fantasy route, go crazy and make things up. As for alcohol, I have no special regulations.

-Word count limit is a strict 3,500. That should be enough to world-build, plus get your minstrel in and out of trouble!

-Grammar and spelling plays heavily into my judging. Make sure your story has proper line breaks, proper punctuation, and proper spelling!

-Where your story goes is UP TO YOU! I'm not here to see cookie-cutter stories. I want to see action, adventure, and, most importantly, YOUR mark on the story. Make me want more!

-HAVE FUN. If you don't have fun with it, I sincerely recommend taking a deep breath and listening to... medieval music? I don't know what that entails, but it sounds interesting and fun. If you find some medieval music, let me know!

NOTES

-Please leave comments! Positive feedback and constructive criticism are extremely important for authors, especially newer or younger writers. Even if you don't join the contest, letting the author of an entry know you liked their work can go a long way.

Winter is coming (in Australia at least) and things are starting to cool down!

I want you guys to create a cozy story that makes you feel warm in an otherwise cold setting!

Maybe it's a person visiting a cute little cafe for a hot drink and they come across unexpected love or friendship?

Perhaps someone has moved into an old house and gives it life again through warm soul food?

Or, it's a cold, snowy day and a poor animal needs to be nurtured back to health with love and a nice, warm bed.

The subject is up to you, as long as it is a warm setting in cold weather!
