If Pandora’s Box is full of evil, then mine shall be full of marvels! Phantasia’s Bubble box is a collection of my stocked story ideas both new and old. Some of these may be referenced from shows, or games. While some are perfectly original (though I know that not everything is original. But the word ‘perfect’ is simple perfect <3).

But why the word Bubble? Well, I see stories like bubbles. They are fragile and fleeting–ephemeral, plus they are beautiful to look at with their rainbow colors. Despite not every story is objectively beautiful, but to me every story is just as beautiful as having to physically experience something.

They might as well be a way for us to practice putting ourselves in others’ shoes (minus the books that are used for imparting knowledge. Those books are for analytically inclined individuals to enjoy).

Writing skills take time to grow. Whether you are into writing songs or poems. One of the common features among song writers and poets is that they all aim at attain a rhythm in what they do and at the same time they intend to target a particular audience. This means that they always ensure they do their level best so that their audience could feel and relate to the songs or poems. However, this is only achievable for poets who have gathered the right experience and adequate skills.  If you are still learning to become a better poet, then you need to invest a lot of discipline and commitment because it takes time and it requires you to be patient. As beginner, there are many mistakes that you might make. As you keep participating in more poetry contests, you become better. Below are some of the rookie mistakes that you should avoid;

1. Lack of research

As a beginner you might realise that poetry isn’t what you initially thought it was. Chances are it is more involving than you thought since it requires you to express your feelings in a poetic manner. In order to be able to understand how to do this in systematic way, you need to keep doing research. When you fail to do research, then you are unable to successfully participate in these free poetry competitions. If don’t do research, you will not be able to know what some poetry competitions expect of you. Research is very important and useful for both beginners and experienced poets.

2. Not planning

Planning is an important stage in almost all aspects of life since it is through planning that you get to achieve your goals. When it comes to poetry, planning is very essential. This is mainly because it allows you to write a good poem without the fear of not completing it. Planning in poetry will put you closer to winning these poetry contests. When you plan, you need to look at the title, consider the theme and finally develop a trail of thoughts that will help you write an amazing poem. Basically, without planning you could end up writing a poem without direction and without the proper flow.

3. Repetition and lack of editing

When it comes to writing your poems, you need to be very careful. You need to have an amazing diction and above all that you need to make sure that you aren’t doing any type of repetition. Whether it’s grammatical relationships or vocabulary repetition. Clearly, you need to find lots of words and their meaning before you can start writing your poem. Excessive repetition will knock you out of many free poetry competitions you participate in. Sometimes you may not notice repetition because you didn’t edit your poem. Editing helps you realise some of the mistakes you’ve made while writing the poems.

4. Lack of practice

As a beginner you have a lot to learn in poetry. This means that you need to be consistent with your practice sessions. Writing more poems only gets you in a better position of winning. Practice also helps you to improve your skillset and language. This means that if you don’t practice enough then chances are your poetry skills might never grow.

Tracking your steps will help you see how much you’ve actually moved throughout the day and may even encourage you to challenge yourself to reach a certain amount of steps every day.

7. Give your eyes a rest.

Eyes become easily strained when you’re constantly focused on your computer screen. Reduce the risk of tired eyes by looking away from your computer for at least 20 seconds in 20-minute intervals.

8. Eat real food.

Real food is whole, single-ingredient foods that are unprocessed and free of additives. Incorporating these foods into your day can help improve your health, manage your weight and give you energy.

9. Snack smart.

It’s easy to mindlessly snack throughout the day, so make sure your snack choices aren’t weighing you down. Mixed nuts, veggies, Greek yogurt or even a piece of dark chocolate are all great options that will keep you feeling satisfied.

10. Take your vitamins.

Multivitamins contain vitamins and minerals that are essential to your health. No matter how healthy you eat or what diet you follow, it can be difficult for your body to get all of the nutrients it needs from food. Research your options and find a multivitamin that fits your needs and supports your health.

11. Get some alone time.

Spending time alone can be extremely beneficial for your mental health. Get to know yourself, figure out what you want and start living your most purposeful life.

12. Try something new.

Join a book club, sign up for a class, start cooking. Try something new at least once a month. Making a point to keep learning throughout your life can keep your mind lively and engaged.

13. Schedule your appointments.

Visit your dentist twice a year, make sure you’re getting those annual checkups at the doctor and schedule the recommended screenings for your age group. Make your health a number one priority.

14. Make time for your friends and family.

Spending time with your friends and family may not seem like a top wellness tip but it is vital. Humans are social beings and rely on other humans to maintain their mental, emotional and physical help. Setting time aside to spend with your loved ones can help relieve stress, increase self-esteem and lead you to make more positive choices.

15. Take care of your skin.

Building a daily skin care routine can help you maintain overall skin health or improve concerns like acne, scarring or dark spots. Find a cleanser, serum, moisturizer and sunscreen and give your skin the love it deserves.

16. Limit blue light before bed.

The blue light emitted by your tech devices may be the cause of those restless nights. Put your phone or laptop away at least an hour before bed to set yourself up for a good night of sleep.

17. Manage your money.

Money worries are oftentimes a big source of stress for some people. Saving for the future, home mortgages and paying off loans—it all adds up. Create a priority list for yourself and determine a realistic budget to provide yourself some relief.

18. Practice gratitude.

Oftentimes, we tend to focus on what we’re lacking in life instead of focusing on the things that we do have. Start measuring your worth by your successes rather than your deficits by keeping track of the things that go well in your life.
