I was in the middle of a jog when my phone began to ring. I always try to get at least two hours of jogging each Saturday, a promise I've striven to keep ever since I was somewhere in my early twenties. I've done a great job of keeping that promise for the most part, only failing once or twice in the past eleven years or so. And when I start my jog, I usually can't quit until those two hours are up. But I guess a little break every once in a while won't hurt. Especially under urgent circumstances.
I stopped jogging for a brief moment and sat down on a nearby bench. Panting, I answered the phone and said: "Yep?"
"Hey there sir," Jean said into the phone. "I think I found the midget."
I raised my eyebrows. "Did you?"
"Really short and long black hair right?"
"That's the same description I heard."
"That's exactly what me and Tyrone saw when we stopped to grab some ice cream just a second ago. Really short guy with long black hair, wearing a white shirt and black basketball shorts. He looks exactly like a woman from the back. He was also walking with two little girls."
"Did you get me some ice cream?"
"Umm...no. We didn't know you wanted any, sir. But we can get you some if you want any."
"Make it cookie dough. Did you find out where the midget lives?"
"Yes sir. We stayed right behind him the whole time. He actually lives in this apartment complex not far from that store where Maurice and Jason said they saw him."
"Perfect. Now we just wait. That little punk is going to regret ever getting involved with my men."
"What exactly are you planning sir? Are we going to kill him on the spot?"
"Nope. I've got something a little special planned for him."
"What's that?"
"It's a surprise. Let's just say that Mr. Lady Hair is soon going to wish we had killed him on the spot."
"Oh boy, I can't wait."
"Wait for my signal. Tonight we're going to catch a leprechaun."
"And steal his gold?"
"If we can find anything valuable, then why not?"
"Oh hell yeah! And what about the little girls?"
"What about the little girls?"
"You have anything special planned for them?"
"I don't think anything involving little girls was anywhere on the agenda. Our only mission is take out the source of my men now being too afraid to even walk the streets at night. Unless those two little girls have the same fighting moves, I don't see what reason we have to get involved with them."
"Okay, I'm just wondering."
"Like I said, wait for my signal. I'll get a hold of the rest of the guys very soon."
"Yes, sir!"
"Don't forget about the ice cream."
With that, I hung up my phone. After a few quick stretches, I returned to my jog. I still had at least another hour left to finish.
