So last week I talked about everything before 2018 and somewhat summarized it. This week I'd like to talk about what I've got going on and what led up to what's up. So in 2018 I attempted a challenge where each week I'd write for 3 series and try to do my best. Obviously that led to crap work as I was mildly out of practice. I intended to try again for this year with plans to have begun writing as of November 2018. Obviously come August I had changed my Midnight Plans.
I went from rewriting Midnight to saying to hell with it & starting over. The planning, the researching, the agent finding, and all else took a lot of my focus until before I knew it, HEY it's the end of December. So a lot of my time went towards Ravenlight even into February.
I kept saying in February I'd get back on it for 2019, then it turned into March, and now I'm looking to April. For that I apologize but it took forever to finish up Ravenlight. Even now it is not done as I still have to hear back from Beta-readers (sign up if you'd like) and apply any changes, then finish up agent & query research, write the queries, and go on from there.
BUT BEYOND THAT I don't have to focus on Ravenlight in the coming weeks as I'm not going to try querying until late April or May at the earliest due to a new event popping up. Of course, as of last week, that's given me time to reconnect with my Penana/Wattpad/Avalon/Other? plans.
So what am I talking about?
Throughout April I will be introducing the new series (which can be read up on via my profile on Penana and on my website) that I promised. They've taken many rewrites, many turns, many changes, just a lot of work. April 5th will see the beginning with Sins of Fate's first actual chapter. Each week on a different day I will introduce something new with a planned 5 series.
Sins of Fate is the evolution of Project Dreamscapers from 2018 though taken in a different direction dealing with the Celestial Universe Lore. It takes place in the Heavens primarily, or Elysium as it is called. It is inspired by Scooby Doo, Gravity Falls, Star Vs The Forces of Evil, and various other projects. The first half of Volume 1 will dive into the characters and show what brought them to rank among their peers and eventually dive into a mystery surrounding Ghost Pirates that will prove a challenge.
Throughout the first few chapters you'll see 8 primary characters come together as they try to live up to their dreams. William Carolous at present is the main character; his desire is to go on the adventures his parents did which brought them together while also having fun exploring. Chris Deveron is a typical nerdy boy who wants to just further his knowledge and eventually climb the ranks to become a researcher for the Starset Union. Sarah Friggle's goal is one somewhat close to my heart, to prove that healers CAN FIGHT and aren't just useless damsels half the time (you'll notice this theme in a few other projects soon enough). Shelby Shagrath is the next member and her motives are secretive, having been assigned from a squad she never really talks about; really her backstory will be mysterious for a good portion of the series. The next two are kind of a similar boat, friends seeking to help others; they are Tari Frost and Silver Dragonheart. The last ones are instructors, Michael Baltimora who is somewhat lazy and then Leon Shadowwalker who is by the books with a touch of evil.
I'm sure you can imagine what this gang will be facing in the longrun. I won't detail much more other than that you should expect a little cross platforming with some characters from other works potentially... AND that it will start 'kid friendly'. As time goes on though, I intend to make SOF a little less friendly and more of a PG-13 or higher sort of series.
The next one is still in the works by name of Project Stardust. I won't say much but expect an RPG Metroidvania Fantasy Scifi hybrid that'll have a fair few things to it. Characters are still being decided but I'm aiming to just ease into it for the first volume with a typical RPG quest around a kingdom to save everything. A man for hire will go through and end up with a team that might not completely get along while doing this.
The 3rd project is of course the Night Walkers continuation by a new name of Light Against Dark. Basically it's a blend of reality and Fantasy with Sci-Fi. You'll see the degrading of the Church, see the attacks of the Darkling and the fear caused by those attacks, and businesses. Again I REALLY can't say much due to risk of giving too much away but you'll be following MC James on his adventure to attain justice ultimately as more and more of the plot of Earth's future & past are unveiled.
The 4th project is a Star Wars fanfic which you can just look up. It is a project that will share characters with Dancing Shadows, the slapstick sort of read. DS's main characters will be present with the majority of my fanfics as well as with the core series itself. Basically, Dooku finds out Sidious's plans & sells him out, Order 66 comes and fails, Republic splits into the New Republic and the Empire. Characters from DS join Dooku and show what the CIS truly could/should have been in Star Wars.
As for DS, I have no set plan as I only will have 5-6 chapters planned ahead at the most just so I can incorporate any RL events I think would be boss like the sequel to the Bird Box Challenge (stupid btw). On top of that, it'll take place at a hotel and have various characters from my series and perhaps other series involved.
You can expect Sins of Fate to begin April 5th, Star Dust the following Wednesday 10, Light Against Dark on Tuesday the 16th, Dancing Shadows on Saturday the 27th, and then the Fanfic on Tuesday the 30th to close out April.
As discussed I will be taking a break from the 2nd week of July to the 2nd week of September for all but SOF and SD. I will do a Blog once a month for updates, probably, and MIGHT include 1 other series to join the 2 in continuing through the Summer but no promises.
During the Summer I am anticipating to hear back from Queries and kick my plans up a notch so Ravenlight will either be moving forward or remaining somewhat slow. Will have to wait and see how that impacts my plans.
Not much else to discuss but know that I am beginning writing work on Sins of Fate this week and eventually everything else once I get ahead. Plots are mostly planned out for everything that needs it so it should all go to plan.
With that, once more, I am Alexander Frost signing off. Have a great week!!
