Anyone else put together writing playlists for certain stories? I have been having SO much fun with the list of music that inspires this story for me. Its all Korean pop, 1980s new wave and pop with a few modern songs thrown in as well.

Do y'all like to listen to certain songs for certain stories you write?

I like to listen to Two Steps From Hell or Thomas Bergersen when I write or some classical composer like Mozart or Handel. I find Handel's "Messiah" to be very relaxing to listen to when writing.

A Real Hero and Determinate are my theme songs. I listen to others, as well, a lot of fan songs from horror games and things like that, but those two are like my war cry this month.

I watch tv while writing. I pick a series to watch for the story I am reading/writing. The tv show has nothing to do with the story haha but I have this odd talent where I can know exactly what is going on in the tv show but I didn't actually ever "watch" it while I was writing or reading.  :)

Used Olafur Arnalds' Living Room Songs Album for Glory. Gotta get the dramatic piano.

Give it a listen.

Whoa. That is incredibly pretty. Honestly, I'd be too busy listening to it to write.

@Frances, This guy and Nils Frahm are my go to music backgrounds because if I listen to anything with someone singing, I'd end up doing my own concert performance and that's not helpful I swear.

For the story I'm currently writing, it's mainly classical music with pianos, opera, and Korean pop (depending on the scene). Korean pop really helps me get the words going for some reason haha.

@Davrielle, I've been using tons of K-pop too!!! I love it!

I listen to a mix of composed, as it's described, 'epic fantasy music'. It's very dramatic and intense, and helps me imagine my fantasy world.

That's really cool. I listen to them too. What about Two Steps From Hell?

At the moment, I'm listening to mostly rock, gothic rock, and instrumental/classical music for my novel.

Well, I listen to a whole lot of Alternative while I write (I don't know why, I just do), so right now I'm listening to I Appear Missing by Queens of the Stone Age. It's pretty good.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for some indie - folk that's easy listening? My go-to is Passenger, but his (their) music is a little too... well, British and depressing for what I'm working on haha!

Classic Ryan Adams is always great, this is SUCH a pretty piece right here I ADORE. "The Devil's Tears" by Angus and Julia Stone

PERFECT.
Thanks for sharing this, it's exactly what I'm looking for! After falling in love with Passenger, I've always been picky about this genre because of how amazing his music is... this fits in so well!

@Andrew Knight, YAY! I'm glad I could help! Also, don't hate but Ryan Adams just came out with a cover of Taylor Swift's album 1989. I know it sounds weird but its actually AMAZING. Seriously. Its all on youtube, I highly suggest checking it out.

I will indeed! I tend to never hate on music before I hear it myself and pass judgment according to my person taste, so I'm always down for some T-Swift or whatever... as long as it isn't rap! Hate to be cliche, but I really have yet to see anything great come out of the genre so far haha ;P

@Andrew Knight, haha I agree, there really isn't any music I dislike. I just listen to certain things at certain times, I don't mind rap while I run for instance as long as the beat is steady for me to keep in time
