“Okay, we hung around here long enough,” I told Vera. “Let's keep searching.”
Vera, who was playing in the sand, stood up and brushed the sand off himself. “You’re right.”
“We should find emergency phones,” I started. “You know, those ones in the middle of streets?”
“Do you think we’re near any?” Vera asked.
“Well, we don’t even know where we are.”
“Even if we do, what if those guards find us?”
I facepalmed. “Dammit. You’re right. But hey, at least we found a boundary for the border.”
“That doesn’t really matter,” Vera said. “The border goes around the city anyway. What we need are disguises. That was the initial plan right? Especially since we betrayed the council.”
I gasped. “We're wanted too!”
