"Can you feel that?"
"What?" asked the raven haired boy.
The blue haired girl smiled. "It's raining."
The boy groaned. "It's miles to any shelter! We walked all the way here..." he trailed off, leaning over the cliff and staring down at the dark, angry ocean below.
The girl joined him at the edge. "Woah. Long way down."
The boy flopped against a tree. "We are going to get soaked. And not a bar for miles!"
"Reminds me of the night we met."
"That was nearly a year ago. Time flies when you're dead drunk, huh?"
She laughed. "I'm still underage."
The boy grinned. "Good times. So, do you wanna head back? It's starting to come down pretty hard." It really was. His shirt was sticking to his chest, outlining toned muscles.
"Remember what happened last time I decided to take a run in the rain?"
"Yeah," the boy said, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. "You ran into me. Sounds like a good deal to me."
The girl raised an eyebrow. "You were running away from the authorities. You're still wanted for murder in fourteen states."
The boy waved a hand, as if that would clear his name. "Technicalities."
She rolled her eyes as thunder clapped overhead. Lightning struck miles out over the ocean. With that display of ethereal power, the sky opened up, fully drenching the two.
"Come here, Love," the boy whispered. She obeyed and pulled him to his feet. Burying her face in his shoulder, she murmured, "Dance with me."
One hand on her waist, the other holding her right hand, the boy began to slowly rock back and forth.
"How did we end up here?" she asked.
"I don't know, Love, but I'm glad to stay."
He dipped her low, brushing his lips against her jawline.
"Just like Christmas Eve at the Chandelier. The night you..." Her voice caught and she had to look away.
"Darling, I'm here now." Pulling her up straight, he took her left hand and held it up. Gently encircling the slender silver ring with his fingers, he kissed her lips. "I'm ready to be your one and only."

"Malachi," she breathed.
"Yes, Rue?"
"This is what happens when we're sober. You already know you're my only one."
The boy smiled and kissed her deeply, lips traveling across her jaw and traveling down her neck.
She shivered.
"I missed you while I was in prison, Rue."
"Don't. I could barely breathe without you."
"I'm here now," he whispered in her ear. As the rain pounded on their entangled bodies, he held her close. "And I'll never let you go."
