As she gazed upon the great hall, she tried counting how many types of monsters. She’d counted 35 already- unfortunately she couldn’t see the magic indoor pool in the middle of the ballroom, so her count was sure to be severely inaccurate.
It was the night of the Halloween Ball- also affectionately called the Dance in The Hallows by many of the members. It was a night that many of the demons and monsters could stay on the over-world for a long amount of time. So, instead of torturing the over-worlders – which was honestly quite fun- some bright spark came up with the idea that all monsters should make peace and have celebrations on this day every year. That bright spark was her great great grandfather.
Normally, she’d be invited in- being a vampire, she couldn’t exactly get in by herself- but after what happened last year, they refused to let her in. God, last year was a disaster. A shiver ran down her spine as she remembered it.
So this is why she was stuck up on the room, watching the filled hall and glaring at the great doors that were swung open which provided entry to the garden. Unfortunately, no one was currently in the garden- everyone just wanted to be in the great hall.
36… oh, a 37th! As she continued to scan the types of monsters that enter the hall, she notices someone going outside. Smiling wickedly, she makes her way to the ground, and sneaks up behind the monster.
5 feet away, and she can already tell what monster this is. The ghostly transparent white body says it all.
She hears the ghost sigh- a sigh that sounds of a hard couple millennia of going through purgatory.
“Who are you?” The ethereal voice catches her off guard, and the ghost turns.
“Uh… Uh,” she searches for words, but can’t find any.
He studies her for a second. “Wait, aren’t you the one who, last year...?”
If she weren’t low on blood at that moment, she probably would have blushed in embarrassment. She nodded furiously, not trusting her voice.
There was an awkward pause between the pair. “Uh, when did you die?” She asked, but after a second, she realised her mistake. “If you don’t, of course?”
“No, no, it’s fine.” The white wisps grew stronger around the transparent boy. “I died sometime during the 1700’s. I can’t remember when. I was 14.”
“Jeeze, you’re old. So what’s your regret?”
“You know,” She waved her hands about ambiguously. “When an over-worlder dies, and they have a regret, they become a ghost.”
He pauses for a second of thought. “I dunno. I always wanted to be able to read and write, so maybe that’s it.”
“Sounds plausible,” She comments.
“Well, when’d you get turned?”
“Fifteen,” She gives a proud smirk. “Customary turning age since the 19th century.”
“Great,” He looks up to the position of the moon. It is halfway through the sky. “We should go back to the party. It’ll be light before you know it,”
“Uh, about that…” She sweats. “I can’t.”
“I need to be invited in.”
It takes him a second to click, but it finally registers. “I’ll invite you in, then.”
“You will?! Thank you so much!”
“Just… Promise not to do the thing you did last year.”
She gives him a bashful look. “I won’t promise.”
The rest of the night passes, feeling faster than it should- she eats, they dance and talk the night away. And before they realise it, the sun is already rising.409Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡB3DYbu7UpY
“Well, it seems that that’s the over-world telling me that I should vacate the premises.” She jokes
The white wisps around the ghost recede quick. He knew this would come, but he wasn’t expecting it to be this painful. “You’ll… you’ll come back won’t you?” he murmurs, otherworldly voice shaking.409Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡr85g5yy34y
“Please visit me again!” He shouts. When he realises how loud he was, he covers his transparent mouth, and his wisps recede even more. “Please, you’re the only person I’ve talked to since my death…”
She is completely surprised by this. But this shock is replaced with joy, and a large grin overtakes her face. “How could I not! You, after all, are the first monster I’ve talked to since my turning, excluding my family!”
The ethereal wisps explode in size, all in a transparent shade of rose-pink.ns 220.127.116.11da2
