Week 5: Journal 48964 copyright protection373PENANAbaTyWDpJHo 維尼
So I just got all of the laundry folded and now I need put it all away. Fun, fun, fun. I decided to take a break for a moment and do some journal writing. Wait, am I actually taking a break by writing? Seriously, what the hell is going on here?8964 copyright protection373PENANAtSNPTOjxhT 維尼
Anyway, Dr. Bryson read my journals from last week. First thing she asks when she sees me was: "You named your daughter Bunny?"8964 copyright protection373PENANAWpT0LuNvZK 維尼
I gave her the explanation in class, but I'll just go ahead and write about it here. No, Bunny is not actually my daughter's name. It's just a nickname. Her name is actually Hannah Elisabeth Ford, but I've been calling her Bunny ever since she was a baby. You see, when I was first found out that I was having a girl, I had no idea what I wanted to name her. I had decided that if I had a boy, I would name him after me, because why not? But I couldn't think of any good girl names. I threw around several ideas (including Sarah, Bailey, and Ashley), but I just couldn't decide on one. If I were naming a dog or cat, this wouldn't be so hard. Since, you know, it's just a pet. This was my child. My flesh and blood. The most important thing to me in the world. I had no idea what I was going to call something that was this important and special to me. It was just too hard.8964 copyright protection373PENANAsbXnlBjI4T 維尼
I did think about naming her after my mom, but for reasons I would rather not explain right now, I decided it was best not to do that. Besides, I don't really like the name Gwen.8964 copyright protection373PENANA78dzTSlJrY 維尼
My (former) friend Troy's mom (one of the few people who were actually talking to me at the time) at first suggested I name her Josephine since it's the female version of my name, but I didn't like that. That would just be tacky. "Hi, my name is Joseph and this is my daughter Josephine." No thank you.8964 copyright protection373PENANAKk7sU1xquB 維尼
Troy's mom (I'll start referring to her by her name Wendy from here on out) started looking through a list of girl's names online and wrote ones down that she thought I may like. I think some of the ones she suggested were Grace, Mia, Catherine, Abigail, and Madeline. The two names that I ended up falling in love with instantly were Annabelle and Hannah. I seriously had a hard time deciding between these two names for the next couple of days. I actually had a hard time sleeping that night, because all I could think of was "Annabelle or Hannah? Annabelle or Hannah?" God, it was difficult. I asked Wendy, Justin, Josh, Michelle, and Courtney what they thought but their answers were divided. Wendy, Justin, and Michelle all liked Annabelle, while Josh and Courtney preferred Hannah. I also asked Troy, but all he did was shrug and say "I don't know." (Sigh, no surprise there) It looked like I was going to need to make my own choice.8964 copyright protection373PENANAftJ1NY7KL4 維尼
After about five days (no joke), I finally decided on Hannah. So now I just needed a middle name. Wendy once again gave me some suggestions, and the one I ended up liking was Elizabeth. I thought that Hannah Elizabeth flowed perfectly. I was going to officially decide on this, but then Wendy gave me another suggestion. To spell Elizabeth with a "s" instead of a "z." She had seen this different spelling before and just thought it would be more unique. And I really liked the idea (I also later found out that Elisabeth is actually the original spelling of Elizabeth, very interesting). So yeah, I decided right there that my daughter's name would be Hannah Elisabeth Ford. It was just perfect.8964 copyright protection373PENANAH24S29dlcY 維尼
When Bunny (or Hannah) was about eight months old, Wendy bought this cute little rabbit outfit for babies and gave it to me. For no reason other than "I thought it would look adorable on her." And oh man, it did look adorable. Seeing Bunny crawl around the house in her little rabbit costume was one of the most adorable things in the world. And she never seemed to mind the costume either. She always had her beautiful little smile on her face (even back then, she had the most beautiful smile in the world) as she wore it and would never cry when I put it on her. I ended up putting the costume on her almost everyday and constantly take pictures and videos of her and put them on Facebook. When I uploaded the pictures and videos to Facebook, I would always refer to her as "my little bunny." And I eventually just started calling her "bunny," writing things like "Bunny crawling around," "Bunny and her blankie," "Bunny laughing" and stuff like that. People who commented on everything would refer to her as "Bunny." Then in real life, I actually started calling her "my little bunny." Then Josh and Justin started calling her Bunny. And...yeah. The name just stuck. Even after she grew out of the rabbit costume, I still kept on calling her Bunny. And she only wanted to be called Bunny. To this day, everybody calls her Bunny. Even her friends and teachers. And she'll get upset when you don't call her Bunny. There was one incident last year where a substitute teacher thought she was messing around when she said that she went by Bunny and refused to call her that. Then Bunny started crying and I had to drive over to the school and have a talk with the substitute. "Why are you calling your child ridiculous names?" Look lady, you're old and I don't like you. Scram.8964 copyright protection373PENANALsmKZJaG6S 維尼
So yeah, there you go. I'll keep calling my daughter Bunny until she gets tired of it. And it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon. And I'm not complaining. I love my little Bunny.8964 copyright protection373PENANAsISe0aYCl5 維尼
And no, Bunny doesn't get made fun of because of her nickname. At least not yet. And the first kid that does is going to have to deal with me. And a pair of pliers and a blowtorch (heh, heh, just kidding).8964 copyright protection373PENANAqXnmeZNaSR 維尼
Alright, that's all I have to say. Time to put all that laundry away. (Hey, I made a rhyme)8964 copyright protection373PENANACO9wGXtmGX 維尼
