“Was that night real? Or was it all just a dream?”
Looking ahead of his room, a sigh escaping, David’s eyes shaking, the mirror before him reflecting his face back to him, a glance down upon the hand to see it, the Mark of God, though clenching his hand, a yell with a swing forward.
SHATTER!!
Pieces of mirror spilling across the dresser and floor, drops of blood joining atop and beside that glass, hand shaking, then his hand, “No… no, I refuse that. God can go to hell, he hasn’t done a damn thing for me so why should I help him!?”
A buzzing sound filled the room; a swift glance back to see his phone vibrating. Quick to walk over and with a look down, it was a call from Andrea, “Huh?”
Picking it up and sliding his finger across, it’d answer, “Hello?”
“David, hi!!”
“Oh, Andrea, hi.”
“What’s up?”
“Oh...” he’d murmur, a glance back at the mirror and then down to his hand, a sigh, “Not much.”
“Oh, that kinda sucks.”
“Yeah… so what’s up with you?”
“Oh nothing much, ya know it’s just that- I’m signed up finally to go study abroad! Wooooo!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Th-that’s great! I’m happy for you!”
“I know right!? So how did things go between you and that one girl?”
“Eh… not well, not well at all. She rejected me just like every other damn girl I’ve ever met.”
“Oh David, I’m so sorry to hear that.”
“Ya know, it is what it is, some of us just aren’t meant to be happy.”
“Hey, don’t be going like that now, you’re not the only one that’s desperately single because other people are jackasses.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. I haven’t been able to keep a boyfriend either though I am looking into this one guy I met.”
A sigh would leave his mouth, “That’s great Andrea… anyway, I’ve got to go.”
“Oh uh, ok?”
Without another word, the phone would drop to his desk, off, his body shaking again. Hands slamming down, looking right out the window, teeth gritted, a growl, “I… will never serve Heaven, I’d rather burn it!!”
-
“Yeah well maybe I’m sick of you pushing this on me when I just can’t Sujit!?”
“Maria, please, that isn’t what I-”
“You go on and on about this crap and it’s taking a huge toll on me. My parents are fucking stupid and forced me to get a job but I can’t keep any money, I can’t go to college because of them, heck they want me to drop out of school. They want to control me and all you fucking care about is US, not me alone, you just want me to magically be there with you so life can SOMEHOW be better!!”
“Maria, that-”
“Well guess what Sujit, I can’t, I just can’t!!”
Silence and then a beep, the phone Maria held flung against the wall smashing through a glass bowl, red in the face to then dive into her bed, “Stupid stupid stupid!!”
As she’d vent, she would not be alone, as Sujit himself halfway across the country would mutter those same words, “Stupid stupid stupid...”
-
Her gaze looking, eyes blinking, a sigh with hand placed upon the wall, “Come on Autumn… you can do this… Hell is where my father had to have gone, I need to fight it. This could be the chance you’ve been looking for to finally fix things in this world, yeah!”
Staring out the window, a voice would call, “Audrey, phone call for you!”
“Oh- ok, coming mom!”
-
“Was it right to do this Adam?”
“Yes, Carsteseia, we’re giving them the chance to fight back. But even this won’t be easy.”
“Some of them seemed, unsure. Can we really trust them?”
“Why not? Hmph, Hell is on the move and Father is growing weaker. We have to put our faith in the mortals this time, just as they’ve done for us for the last few thousand years.”
“I hope you’re right, Adam.”
“If I am, then it’s the end of the world. We will not fall, I know it.”
-
“Well Eve, it would seem that the first step of your plan is in motion.”
“Heh heh, you misunderstand Adam, this is the second step, now we begin act three.”
“Second? What was the first? Oh, you mean-”
“Yes, the fool had to go for us to make any moves. These humans are easy to manipulate, their emotions easily get the best of them making them incapable of change.”
“And what reassurance is there that these mortals you picked will follow through Eve?”
“What reassurance? Heeheehee, my you are stubborn just like the old man was Roxas. Why would I take all these measures without an exact plan? Oh boys, come on out!”
Echoing footsteps would come from behind Roxas, his back turning aside to now glance, eyes filled with fire, “Why are these two still here!?”
“Heehee, because they will be the key to it all. The one has been preparing for this for an eternity with his tactical skill and the other is just pure hate incarnate. They’ll do well to collect the others.”
“Are you certain?”
“Ask them for yourself-”
“Roxas was it? Don’t mistake our desire for war as something to benefit you. I’m doing this because I can no longer stand the world as it is. The Almighty God as he likes to call himself hasn’t done a damn thing… besides, I’ve grown bored with everyday life. This will be the perfect opportunity to test my tactical abilities.”
“You’re such a nerd, you know that?”
“Oh shut up, like you could do any better? They only want you because of how hateful you are, how hateful we both are.”
“So you both will serve Mistress Eve just because you want to?”
Both would step forward, the eyes of the first glaring, “Don’t underestimate Elliot’s hate or my own Roxas. I seek to destroy because that is my path. The world will be laid to waste to then rise like a Phoenix, all as we both wish while you two get your prize.”
“Hmph. The legends say Alexander the Great was a mighty conqueror. If you succeed we might just have to dub you as Alexander the Conqueror the Second, eh kid?”
Eyes glowing with hate and fire, Alexander and Elliot both stood before, facing them, “You have no idea what we are capable of,” both would then say at the same time.
“Heeheehee, how delightful. It is official Roxas, these two will handle the mortals for us, while we focus on other matters. Within a few more months of plotting, Heaven will be destroyed!”
-
And so it was, that it would begin, the beginning of the war of Heaven, Hell, and the Mortal World was set in stone by both, each playing into the hands of the others, Armagedon right around the corner with only Heaven or Hell able to stand atop. The destiny of the Mortal World uncertain as the next chapter in the story of man was about to begin…
