         “Deon?” Demi said quietly. “Where’s Hestia?”copyright protection4PENANA32LSILeKvN

“I told you Demi.” I said. “She’s talking to someone right now. She’s trying to get her to join us.” When I pictured myself as a god, I did not think I’d be babysitting.copyright protection4PENANApB7Y8UYL2U

“Oh.” Demi said. “Why didn’t she take us with her? She took me with her when she talked to you.”copyright protection4PENANAVHEeDDvfcc

“I don’t know Demi.” I said. “Maybe this time it would be harder for her to recruit the girl with us, so she left us her.”copyright protection4PENANAWffI8XtnIZ

“Is she coming back?” Demi asked.copyright protection4PENANAa7Bi6Kd4vf

“Yeah, why wouldn’t she come back?” I asked surprised by the question.copyright protection4PENANAYqXDFAgaQt

“I don’t know.” Demi muttered. “My mommy never came back.”copyright protection4PENANAnMJCuRAYei

I was taken aback. How do you respond to something like that? “Don’t worry.” I said. “This time it’s different. Hestia won’t leave us.”copyright protection4PENANAXpqzIwjVBO

“Ok.” Demi said. We sat in silence after that. Me not knowing anything to say, and Demi busy playing with a stray cat. Maybe ten minutes pasted before Hestia showed up again, and she wasn’t alone.copyright protection4PENANAbzf8cUJt5z

“May I present Adele.” Hestia said. “Adele, this is Deon, and that is Demi. They’re like you.”copyright protection4PENANAWslF5QxFOL

Adele had long brown hair tied in a braid that went across the top of her forehead, around down the side of her head and hung swaying in front of her shoulder. I looked up and saw she had bright blue eyes that caught the sun perfectly.copyright protection4PENANAXMbolTUEPv

“Hey.” She said. “So you guys are my fellow Olympians?”copyright protection4PENANAt05J9iESLJ

“Not yet.” Hestia said. “Demi, Deon! We need to leave now.”copyright protection4PENANArIcNohEVXt

“Where’ are we going?” I asked.copyright protection4PENANAHUfSiBMdgB

“To meet your other fellow FUTURE Olympians.” She put extra emphasis on the future. “Now come.” She said.copyright protection4PENANAIKCOtL67DS

“I’m Demi.” Demi said to Adele.copyright protection4PENANAR5A3SYlxTi

“Oh, hello Demi.” Adele said smiling. “She’s so cute.”copyright protection4PENANA0AdgtwRfJ7

“We’re going to be goddesses together.” Demi informed her before running up and grabbing Hestia’s hand.copyright protection4PENANARsSthlfntT

“Wow, isn’t she a little young to become a goddess?” Adele asked me.copyright protection4PENANAflYQpROLoI

“And we aren’t?” I pointed out.copyright protection4PENANA3ojhEMNv2x

Adele nodded. “That makes sense.”copyright protection4PENANADU0voiRDFl

“We’d better catch up.” I said. “Hestia doesn’t like it when you get too far behind.” I said.copyright protection4PENANAwVGuM6mBRK

“I always pictured her as one of the nicer goddesses.” Adele said. “But she’s kind of strict.”copyright protection4PENANAjU8CcNp0ir

“I never pictured her before I meet her.” I said. “I didn’t know much about the gods before, well I still don’t to be honest.”copyright protection4PENANAyWlzsJRknx

“I’ve always loved ancient Greece. And now I get to live it.” Adele said shaking with excitement.copyright protection4PENANAFTtmofsKQj

“Yeah.” I said. Personally I had slept through most of my own history classes. So my knowledge of Greek Mythology was very limited. But when chatting up girls, their interests become your interests. “I just so excited to get to live in Greece.”copyright protection4PENANAv9eDMrqbrJ

Adele looked confused. “Hestia told me New Olympus wasn’t in Greece.”copyright protection4PENANADZGZy8Ips6

I tried to look surprised. “What? How can we be Greek gods if we don’t live in Greece?”copyright protection4PENANAW80puoFX9v

Adele smiled. “I know right? What I find most interesting about all of this though is just being in the presence of a real goddess. I meant Hestia…she’s the real deal. She’s been a goddess longer than time!”copyright protection4PENANAhEFwirXJDo

“You know it.” I smiled. This girl liked old things way too much.copyright protection4PENANAsgo8fWhYmK

“Yeah, she’s experienced all of the things in history. She probably witnessed some of the most pivotal moments in history. It’s just all so overwhelming.” Adele said clearly very excited.copyright protection4PENANA4jS4JntokD

“You’re really into this.” I observed.copyright protection4PENANAUBhA7A14jF

“I surprised you’re not!” she said. “We’re going to be gods and you act like you don’t care.”copyright protection4PENANAtMWRVbOcab

“I do care.” I said. “I’m just not as passionate as you.”copyright protection4PENANAWevOjecNDw

“Hurry up.” Hestia ordered us. “I can’t be late to my own rendezvous.”copyright protection4PENANAqy8H8fiakB

“Why didn’t we just rent a car?” I asked. Hestia had had me walking around since she had picked me up at the park, and I was not happy about it.copyright protection4PENANAPOnLFiXuv7

“Greek gods can’t drive.” Adele said smiling at me.copyright protection4PENANAGsmbhFpts3

“Sure we can.” Hestia said. “The reason we’re walking is because the rendezvous is just a few more blocks away.”copyright protection4PENANAZSB7AJnTUI

“Who are we rendezvousing with?” Adele asked a few minutes later.copyright protection4PENANAuJwSvcbsGH

“Umm…” I started to say.copyright protection4PENANAzn9WyqBYT4

“The other Olympians.”  Hestia answered before me. “Didn’t I say that already?”copyright protection4PENANA1TXD1ynorh

“Oh.” Adele said. “Sorry.”copyright protection4PENANA6W0DPvP1Yw

“Carry me?” Demi asked of Hestia, holding her arms up high.copyright protection4PENANAIyTRuri5pc

“Deon?” Hestia said turning to me. “Would you be so kind?”copyright protection4PENANAar5846Grv8

I groaned. So now on top of having my feet burning, I would have to lug Demi around. Great! “Yeah sure. Come here Demi.” I lifted the young girl up and held her against my shoulder. I don’t know why, but for some reason Demi felt like a little sister to me. Even though I had only known her for about a day.copyright protection4PENANAIC4JfUf5Vd

“Now hurry up!” Hestia ordered once Demi was settled. We resumed our pace. About now we were exiting the city and entering an industrial park. Looking around I saw nothing that I’d think to rendezvous at. It was just factories and warehouse, and they all looked the same too.copyright protection4PENANACELwvfYOln

“Why did you pick this place?” I asked. “There’s no one here.”copyright protection4PENANA0wP6ETcllI

“That’s the point.” Hestia muttered. “We can’t have the humans witness the gathering of the New Olympians.”copyright protection4PENANAt4kyNAs3Fo

“Oh.” I muttered. “That makes sense.”copyright protection4PENANAgi22OyiMmE

“So is New Olympus here? Hidden somewhere?” Adele asked excitedly.copyright protection4PENANAanaZtPTGae

Hestia scoffed. “In this dump? Of course not.” She turned around to face us. “Do you two have to ask every possible question? When I recruited Demi she asked my name and how to spell it, that was it. With you two, its question, question, and more questions.”copyright protection4PENANAoEiJc6jF9Y

“Can you blame us?” Adele asked.copyright protection4PENANA4qg6s5FLR2

“Why did Demi need to know how to spell Hestia?” I asked.copyright protection4PENANAp1pA0TpUAz

“See! I answer one of your questions, and it spawns two new questions.” Hestia pointed out.copyright protection4PENANA8YerHqy06I

“Fine no more questions.” I conceded. “We’ll just blindly follow an old lady who claims to be able to make us Greek gods.”’copyright protection4PENANAZa8ghBlWmd

“Speak for yourself.” Adele muttered. “I’ve got a book full of questions.”copyright protection4PENANAYMeomfhL9R

Hestia stopped suddenly. “Here we are!” We were standing outside of a landfill. Not even joking.copyright protection4PENANAlhQzJy0hz7

I took one sniff and nearly burned out my nose hairs. “Phew!” I shouted. “It stinks.”copyright protection4PENANAZzi8PzJbw6

            “Yeah, well it’s a landfill…” Adele muttered.copyright protection4PENANAouTDTfSb11

“Come on.” Hestia said boldly walking into the stench, quickly followed by Adele.copyright protection4PENANA3njTW2rXk1

“Great.” I muttered holding my breath. I dove in after her.8Please respect copyright.PENANAj0XcDQsw2t
