The Doulosi must be destroyed.
They operate technology with thoughts alone. They bend electricity, water, and fire with simple gestures and commands. They shape the fabric of reality around them.
If the Doulosi cannot be destroyed... then they must be contained.
Alericka Ward had been a guard at Frontier Memorial Ultimaximum Security Prison for over a year, and in all that time she'd only seen one Doulosi prisoner checked in and done away with. Six months since then, she's gotten some rank under her. She's going to be a guard in-the-know, especially now that Prisoner #2 has just arrived and she's been put in charge of his well being.
The prisoner is exceptional. While his identity is kept from the rest of the staff, Ward is privileged with his entire portfolio. He is given library time and two meals a day. And instead of eventually being ushered to the gas chambers, his cell is outfitted with furniture for an extended stay. Ward knows there is more to this prisoner than her sergeant has let on, and she can't shake the feeling that her every move is being scrutinized.
Despite everything, Ward finds herself drawn to the prisoner and the mystery surrounding his supernatural abilities... so much so that she starts to wonder what it would take to get the prisoner out of the glass cloister.
Some folks are confused... so here's a food guide to The Glass Cloister:
CHAPTERS are numbered 1 through 10. They are chronicled according to the passage of time. These are the meat and potatoes of The Glass Cloister.
ATTACHMENTS are multi-media bites. They are not in any particular order. Often, they are loosely relevant to the chapter that follows it. These are the rosemary summer veggies and truffle mac'n'cheese balls that accompany the meat and potatoes of the story: delectable and desirable, but unnecessary for survival.
