In the tv show "Vikings", the French princess becomes betrothed to the viking Rollo. The match is against her will but will help preserve their country from the invaders.

Using this as inspiration, write a historical story about a couple who are put together in an arranged, political marriage. It can be in Medieval Europe, feudal Japan, Ancient Egypt, Victorian England, whatever.

- It must be written in first person from the perspective of one of the partners.

- Explore more than just the romantic implications of such a match, look at what is seen to be gained politically or materially from the marriage.

- Explore any moral dilemma behind it as well, like a conflicted groom who feels guilt for forcing an unwilling bride into marriage. Or maybe a bride who has given her heart elsewhere but concedes to marrying a man who isn't her beloved.

- 500 word minimum

- Let's keep it PG-13 folks.

Pieces will be judged on originality and quality of work. Good luck!
