Brooklyn
My phone rings in the middle of the night so I reach for it and answer before even looking at who is calling.

“Brooke?” Luca says
“What do you want, Luca?” I spit.
“I wanted to talk to you and apologize for how I acted, I wasn’t thinking right and I shouldn’t have treated you that way.” He says.
“Well that’s nice and all, but did you have to call in the middle of the night?” I question.
“What are you talking about Brooke? It’s ten am.” He responds.
“What?!? It can’t be. I’m late for work, I’ve got to go.” I say, but before I can hang up, he says something that catches me off guard.
“Brooke, you work for me, so it’s okay if you take a day off. And... Brooke, it’s Saturday.” He says and laughs.

He’s right, I’ve been so busy with work that I forgot what day of the week it is.

“Your right, I’m so stupid.” I laugh.
“I called to tell you that I wanted to show you something that I think you will like, if you can stop being stupid for five minutes.” He mocks.
“Why should I go anywhere with you?” I snap.
“You shouldn’t, but you know you want too. Brooke, come on just let me make it up to you. I have a bad temper and I can sometimes be rude and insensitive, but I am sorry and I want to make it up to you.” He says.
“Okay.” I respond.
“Okay. I’ll have my driver pick you up around noon.” He says and hangs up.

I have a bad feeling about this. What could he possibly want to show me? And the most important question is, will he flip out on me again like he did yesterday?

I don’t know what he wants to show me or what we are going to be doing so I have no idea what to wear. I choose a sweatshirt and some jeans. I take a quick shower and apply some makeup. After I am dressed and ready to go, I walk down the the lobby of my small apartment building and wait for Luca’s driver to get here. That sounds so foreign. How many people actually have a driver? It must be nice to not have to drive in all of this LA traffic everyday. Maybe in another life. My thoughts are broken by a large, black limousines pulling up to the curb in front of my apartment building. A driver steps out as I walk outside.
“Brooklyn Jennings?” The driver questions.
“Yes, that’s me.” I respond and politely smile.

He walks around and opens the door for me and I climb in. This is much more than I expected. It’s nice, but much more than I’m used too. We drive downtown to James Publishing, which I find strange, but decide to keep an open mind. The driver instructs me to take the elevator up to the roof of the building. I’m skeptical, but do as I’m told. When the elevator doors open at the roof I’m greeted by Luca standing by a large helicopter. I’m stunned. He doesn’t know how to fly this does he? Where are we going? Questions flood my mind as I find myself instinctively walking toward him.

“What do you think?” He asks.
“Wow” is all I can manage to say.

He helps me into the helicopter before taking a seat in the drivers seat. He really does know how to fly this. He hands me a head set and buckles my seatbelt before taking off.
“Where are we going?” I ask.
“It’s a surprise, just wait and see.” He smiles.

We fly over the city and over the vast, blue ocean before landing on a small island just of the coast of LA. Luca helps me out of the helicopter.

“This is so beautiful. Who owns this?” I laugh.
“I do.” He says as he walks ahead of me into a small cabana.
“What? What do you mean you own it?” I ask.
“I mean I bought it therefore I own it.” He says.
“Wow. That’s awesome.” I say.

He owns his own island? How is that even possible? Why did he bring me here?

“This is where we are staying for the weekend, I had my people pack you a bag.” He says as he directs me in the door.
“Wait, really?” I say obviously sounding way too excited.
“Yeah, I thought I would bring you here and show you a good time to make up for how I treated you yesterday.” He says and smiles.
Dang that smile, it’s just like his accent. It gets me every time.
“Thanks, but you didn’t have too. A simple apology would have been sufficient.”
“I wanted too. Now stop being so uptight and enjoy the weekend.”

There is a large house on this island and that’s where we are staying. He leads me upstairs and shows me my room.
“Meet me at two, for a late lunch.” He commands.
“Okay.” I respond.

I unpack my bag that I did not pack, but somehow has everything I would’ve packed. I pick out a cute sundress to wear to lunch since we are on the beach. I walk down the stairs and find Luca sitting outside on the sand with a picnic blanket and basket.
“Wow, you really went all out.” I say as I sit down.
“You like it?” He asks.
“I love it.” I smile.

We have a lovely lunch. Luca is actually a really romantic guy. So far this day has been great.

“How about we go for a swim?” He says as he pulls his shirt over his head revealing many dark tattoos on his arms and back. I didn’t expect that. They fit him though.

“Um I’m okay. I think I’ll just sit here for a while.” I say.
“Suit yourself.” He says as he dives into the water.

I turn to lay on my stomach to face the water. It’s so pretty here, if I never left I wouldn’t be disappointed. I see Luca coming out of the water and pull my sunglasses down to get a better view. He Is glistening in the sun showing off his abs and muscles. He catches me staring and says “like what you see?”
“What, I wasn’t looking at you? I was looking at the water.” I lie.
“Sure.” He laughs.

This has turned out to be a great day and for the first time since Nathan and I broke up, I’m happy.
