Here's a drawing I did for my Wife a few months ago. It was for a DnD campaign that was quickly buried and forgotten, lol. It's a Spellblade (Bladesinger) Jewler. This has nothing to do with this update lol.131Please respect copyright.PENANA7bveH3iev3
UPDATE131Please respect copyright.PENANABnqnwmvYkH
The Knight-errant III is actively being written. I am currently at 4040 words at the time of writing this post. That roughly equates to 10 and a half pages, and there is much more to get through. This is going to be a chunky chapter with lots of things going on and needing to happen to set up for the Tourney and, most importantly, the Festival. Also, I keep finding myself needing to retrace my steps and add paragraphs to provide more context or resolve certain conflicts better, which subsequently increases the size. I am feeling very optimistic about this chapter and hope to get it done by next Friday (4-21-22) 131Please respect copyright.PENANAqGoMj5KP0A
There is only one challenge so far, and that is prepping for my DnD game (which incidentally takes place in the same world, lol) I am probably just going to pick a random dungeon from the Mad Mage book and run that. I am really bad at focusing on two projects at once. If I start to take writing The Coming of the Pilgrim more seriously than I already do, I am contemplating wrapping up the campaign or killing it beforehand. One has got to go, hahaha. 131Please respect copyright.PENANA1rmM3oWRyL
Magic System Scaffolding131Please respect copyright.PENANAaiv66uYVGL
I am just going to copy and paste the notes I have regarding this. I do not wish to provide broader context as all the stuff written here is subject to change and, unless it is shown or specifically stated in the narrative itself, is not officially canon. 131Please respect copyright.PENANA2aENlFEqzd

THE TEN DICTUMS131Please respect copyright.PENANAFXZitMteJr
1) Without sound, there is no spell-weaving. Without vibrations, there is no Magick.131Please respect copyright.PENANAdLgilMBFLC
2) Nothing can be created, only molded, transmuted, possessed, manipulated, divined, or revealed131Please respect copyright.PENANAUB2Myc1xFz
3) For every spell-weaved and enchantment cast, there is a toll to be paid: riches, elements, or spirit; the sum must equate to the outcome. 131Please respect copyright.PENANAoc0zZEUZZH
4) Spellcasting comes at the hazard of one's body and spirit. To call upon the powers of the Mysteries ill-prepared would mean certain death. 131Please respect copyright.PENANAaZnGg9KLq2
5) Anyone can harness the power of the Mysteries, though few can master it and even fewer conquer it. 131Please respect copyright.PENANAb8lgNsEoX1
6) Leave the dead to their fate. What once was alive must not walk again. 131Please respect copyright.PENANAYho7b4mTqU
7) Never enter the mind of another, lest an eternity in the body of another awaits you.131Please respect copyright.PENANAhalJ5LfTOU
8) Spell, and enchantment can be woven into objects. The purer the material, the greater the bond is.131Please respect copyright.PENANAItDwZoQiuB
9) One must never project one's spirit outside of the body. The incorporeal realm is awash with dangers no man can face, and what might come back could endanger the innocent.131Please respect copyright.PENANAmyIAxUzZzK
10) The future can be gleaned but never thwarted. Causality is a river ever moving forward. 131Please respect copyright.PENANA2HLS0ngoQQ

Recompenses 131Please respect copyright.PENANA5IlEMP9CPc
- Spirit- The caster that uses one own spirit as material for the spell. It can cause the caster to age faster, die younger, and exhibit signs of madness much earlier than mages from other parts of the world or the general non-magic user. Spell tends to be more powerful or consequential, in addition to being more consistent and controllable.
- Blood- The caster uses the blood of animals or, in some malign cases, Human sacrifice. It preserves the caster spirit and allows them to age slower. While the magic cast using blood can be less potent or as powerful on average, it also can be amongst the most powerful ways to cast a spell on larger scales, i.e., mass human sacrifice.
- Nature- The caster uses materials that can be grown, i.e., plants or fungi. Combinations of these materials can be used to cast different spells, and the most popular form of ignition is fire though other methods can be used to activate the spell. This preserves the caster’s spirit and does not require blood from either oneself or another. However, it is the wildest form of magic, and if one is not well disciplined in its use, the spell could run wild.

The Smoking Sea131Please respect copyright.PENANA7h5mbKE5dv
Wanted to mention that I have uploaded a short story of the aforementioned name, originally written in the fall of 2019 on a weekend spent in a cabin somewhere deep in a Pennsylvania forest. The Smoking Sea is just a leftover of a childhood idea I had about a big angry crocodile that lived in the ocean and was so mad that it boiled the sea. Which was worked into something a bit more serious and coherent in the short story and seems to have even found its way into Aultar (The setting for the coming of the Pilgrim). You can see it on the map of Al'Stoya in chapter one of CotP. However, whether or not it is the same Smoking Sea is not yet decided. If you read the short story and CotP, I will let you decide. Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day. 131Please respect copyright.PENANA7ZuTFmFFVn
