Audrey was currently standing in front of Ashley's car waiting, she decided to give Ashely and Nancy a call before she read a text on her phone from her two best friends telling her they couldn't leave because they had something to do.
She seem happy about that because it will give her more time to come up with an excuse for her behavior at lunch. She will not blame them if they get mad at her although, she will be sad since the girls are the most important people in her life.
Audrey was glad to have them, her parents were never available or present on her birthday, they were always busy at work or sometimes traveling for a seminal. Audrey hated talking about her parents but unfortunately she had similarities with her mom Katie in look and character.
She often gets compliments from family and friends, pointing that to her face but she never expressed her dislike on it since, there was absolutely nothing she could do to change the face that reminded her of her mother constantly, it's one of the reasons she doesn't make up so, she won't need to look into the mirror.
Audrey could not understand why her parents gave birth to her than having an abortion since they clearly knew they will never be present for her, even better, they could at least have given her a younger sibling she could talk to than letting her be the only child, she was grateful she had her friends and the maids looking out for her.
Audrey found her way back to the same tree she sat at for lunch waiting to see if Ace really did fix a date with her, she has always been the kind of girl that chooses caution over risk and now she was about to make a choice of letting him into her life, one that could jeopardize her mental health.
She got caught off by her thought when she heard James and Ace exchanging words in an unpleasant manner, she got up quickly and decided to hide behind the tree.
That is a wrong move Ace, she'll get furious when she finds out, beside, you cannot do that to her because she doesn't deserve you James said angrily.
Ace put his hands into his bag and pulled out a small blue box, Audrey could feel her heartbeat racing abnormally than usual, the school parking lot was almost empty since most of the student were leaving, thankfully, she could clearly separate Ace & James voice from the hazy noise of the students around her.
James turned around to leave but turned back to land a punch on Ace face.
Can he do that I ask myselfy gasping, forgetting I was not supposed to make any noise that will attract them to me and accidentally lost a footing in the process before strong arms snaked itself around my waist to stabilize me from falling.
My savior had one hand on my waist and the other stamped to the tree, trapping me. He gazed at me with a look of recognition in his eyes but all I could see was a hint of anger, shock, lust and revenge in his eyes.
I tapped his hands to set me free but he wasn't complying, i was totally engulfed in fear and vulnerability of his unclear expression, I cleared my throat softly and look to the floor, I guess using my voice is the only choice I have left.
Before I could ask him if he was okay, a certain blue eyes somebody decided to do the talking.
You have five seconds to take your hands off her before you lose them Ace said calmly but, I can feel the fire radiating off from every word of his. The expression on Ace and the other dude tells me they have an unfinished business.
I wanted to grab Ace but James came from behind and pulled me away from there, come with me, I will drop you off at home.
No, leave me I slap his hand off my wrist but it was too strong but not hurting me. Wait, I can't leave Ace behind, I mean those two will kill each other if they are all by themselves, I tried convincing him.
James chuckled.
What's funny?
He opens the car door for me before going around to get in, as soon as he drives out of the parking lot, he looks at me and smile before regaining his composure and look back to the road saying, am not against you been into him but I hope you are aware you two don't fit into the same world.
He wasn't looking at me and obviously couldn't notice the questioning glare on my face. I turn my body around so I am facing the door, from time to time I could feel his eyes burning holes on my sides.
Nancy spoke to you about me didn't she? I ask him, judging from his opposite conclusion.
She didn't have to but, he did he said in a monotonous low tune that if I wasn't listening intently to him, I wouldn't have caught on the last part of the conversation. The rest of the ride home was driven in silence.
It was a fifteen minutes drive, so right now, I was just thanking him from dropping me off before he stopped me.
Audrey.....
What James?
Don't get too close to him, you don't deserve him he said without batting an eye lash. I nodded, acting as if I wasn't bothered by the warning in his tone but, immediately I made it into my room, a dam of waterfall left its mark on my face, it was a peaceful waterfall, the type where you cry with no sound and no thrashing, too peaceful that everything around me slowly became blurry that I whimpered heavily before my eyes shut itself close.
