The train came to a screeching halt on the commons floor. Ignoring the fact that the train had just obliterated the tile floor, Hezago rushed out and into the house of discussion, which was at this moment prepared for an ambush.
As soon as he ran in, a huge breath of relief, followed by howls of laughter, filled the room. Hezago was very confused. What was so funny? A light breeze flew through the room. Oh. That’s what. He thought, realising that he was still wearing the dress Annabeth chose for him.
Apparently, the council did not trust his fashion taste—not because it was bad, but because they just didn't like it. Rude, innit’? Anyway, Hezago quickly magicked his clothes into a ball gown, which was the most the dress would allow for some reason, and watched with a stern face as the council’s laughter died out. “Done laughing? Good. Anyway, Meruvess was just consumed by the outer void, so I was thinking that we could... " His voice died out. “What?” The head speaker cleared his voice.
“You really think we’ll believe your crazy shenanigans?”
“Whatever you think this is, that’s not i-”
“Oh, hush, will you? Ever since you came around, there's just been chaos.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you only cause problems.” Hezago took offence. “Excuse me!? It wasn't me who tanked the economy!” “Eh, but still, it’s not like you tried to help.” “It was my money that—you know what? That’s not what I'm here for. As much as it pains me to say this, the universe is nearing its end.”
“Bah! Rubbish, if that was the case, we would have known.”
“But did you want to know? You just want to keep the power; that’s all you all care about, isn't it?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
"During the six hundred and forty-fourth revolution, you did nothing to make sure it didn't happen again. I was the one who had to force the bill through Congress. The goikan terrazaster, it was you all that caused it, and the public still blames me for it to this day. The Malea-”
Hezago stopped. There was no point in trying to convince them. They’d still refuse to help. So he decided he'd have to find another way to do this. So he spoke.
“On the sixteenth day of May, the year of which I don’t know, reckoning will come, and this universe will be done for.” Before the council could respond, he raised a gloved hand, silencing them, and walked off, into his train, and left, not bothering to fix the mess he had left.
