(July 4th...)
(MannaLand, Great Yarmouth, is an amusement park located near Great Yarmouth Joy Beach.)
(To be honest... Someone had such thoughts when deciding to ride a ride at Great Yarmouth Joy Beach the next year.)
(The streets were filled with crowds and cheerful faces. Some were with their families, with their sons or daughters on their fathers' shoulders. There were also young people around 18 years old, six of them playfully tugging each other to ride a ride. They seemed to be joking when deciding on something. Some looked happy and more excited, but there were also faces turning pale green, and it seemed that if they didn't find a toilet, something would explode from their mouths.)
(Everything looked lively, except for us, who walked closely together, although honestly, in our minds, we were miles apart from house to house.)
(Well, we've ridden all the rides, and now it's easier to say it's time to go home. But we chose to wander aimlessly on the small streets.)
(Not at the food court or enjoying food. Not in a melancholic mood like last year because Billy Marsh helped us find a way out.)
(Our problem at Norwich Market, discussing work and the future, was resolved only because of Billy Marsh's efforts. I'm always amazed by people like him who seem to have no hidden motives to help us.)
(Nick Gill is still a freelance technician, but now he often goes to the office for daily maintenance of pest control machines.)
(Alwen Howell works in the Ghostic company's relations, a delivery service with a drop point warehouse near Ghostic Pest Control, in the Fabulous Briar pre-industrial complex, Calpice Road, Norfolk.)
(I, now become Billy's partner and Research Development team at Ghostic Pest Control.)
(Everything is at its peak of hope. The economic wheel with holes has been patched, so we can still pedal calmly. Hopefully, we will reach our destination.)
(We then sat together on wooden chairs that were monotonous only in color. Stiff chairs, garden chairs, playground chairs in general.)
(In the midst of the crowd of people, we looked at them while resting.)
(The four of us. More precisely, two pairs. Or actually, just the two of us?)
"Do you have any plans after this, Sweetheart?"
"I don't know, with you perhaps?"
(Although we sat in pairs, they were like glue. Embracing each other. I, who wanted to say something, couldn't.)
(Actually, that can be considered normal.)
(Because we often meet at work, I realize that this is often seen by my own eyes. More precisely, after returning from work. They often stop by to eat together or stay together, perhaps?)
(Just that, I am quite concerned about Billy. Because I never pity myself, so I pity Billy.)
"Erh-hem! Sorry to disturb you-but... after this, I-have-an event, more precisely... um?"
(Her gaze was firm without expression, and Billy cleared his throat to save our awkward situation. Of course, I also wanted to go home as soon as possible rather than hear Romeo and Juliet play their roles.)
"Boss Billy, sorry! What time do you think?"
(Nick Gill called him that because Billy gave him a stable job even though he was still considered a freelance worker. I heard that his appointment letter would come a year later. He is a friendly and somewhat humorous man. Before being given a job, he called Billy a friend. It seems like they were very harmonious back then.)
(Now there's no problem either. It's just that I feel it's a little different.)
(While Alwen Howell is a woman who always acts recklessly. Even so, I respect her a lot. After we got jobs that happened to be close to the four of us, I often spend time with Alwen Howell.)
(I learned a lot about how to calm down and find entertainment. Because I'm the type of book reader. And thanks to Alwen Howell, I got a new hobby like watching dramas, movies, playing arcade games, and even in this amusement park. I'm grateful for that.)
"Yeah, as usual, you know me. Somehow, this busyness bothers me at important times?"
"Uh huh? The manager's boss is indeed in a special place, huh?"
(Nick Gill said to Billy as if giving him encouragement. Alwen Howell also gave him a smile of hope. However, in two seconds, the phone in his pocket rang.)
"Hello, this is Billy Marsh from Ghostic Pest Control. Today, I have a meeting with Mr. Vic-uh... around 3 in the afternoon. There's still about 10 minutes left. May I wait outside the meeting room?"
"....."
"Is that so? Alright, alright."
"...."
"Oh, no, no. No need. Thank you, I'll be there as soon as possible."
(Billy put his phone back, then stood up from his seat.)
"Are you leaving now, Billy Boss?"
"Call of duty, you guys can go home first."
"Take care on the road!"
(Alwen Howell and I said simultaneously. That's how Billy left the three of us. However, somehow I heard a few of his words through my two healthy and sharp ears that had never been covered by a headset or headphones.)
"Why is this busyness coming at the right time…"
(I know at the office that Billy is a busy person. I can understand how annoying it is when that happens. But that's the risk of being an important role in the company.)
(We have no activities after being tired of riding all the rides and the last and never missed, the Ferris wheel. Oh yes, the Ferris wheel at MannaLand has a gondola designed like a hot air balloon.)
(For me, all Ferris wheels are the same. It's just about comfort inside. So far, Mrs. Davies's is the best. Not just a Ferris wheel, Mrs. Davies called it the Georgia Wheel. And I, don't care much about the philosophy of it anymore.)
"Perhaps you want to ride another ride, Eira?"
"No, I'm done with this amusement park."
"I didn't expect the holiday to be this short."
(We left MannaLand amusement park. Actually, the next day is Sunday, and the three of us are still considered on holiday.)
(Except for Billy if there are clients bothering him on holidays or Alwen Howell who only has a day off on Saturdays.)
(We walked a few meters from MannaLand. Actually, I wonder where we will go after this? Considering that research also takes time, and we only went to MannaLand thanks to a client's recommendation. More precisely, from Billy doing business.)
(Suddenly, after a few meters, the three of us saw a sign for another amusement park. As if they were neighbors.)
"Hey, how about going there next year?"
"I didn't expect it to be this close, Sweetheart!"
"What do you think, Eira? We can inform Billy later?"
(I just nodded without knowing how to object. I think I will just enjoy and pass the time.)
(Actually, I am grateful that we are this close, plus our jobs are close together. So we can chat anytime.)
(But far from the depths of my heart, I should be more confident in handling issues in a company like where I work.)
(The meeting would be much more memorable if we met once a year. However, a once-a-year meeting that actually doesn't bring us together once a year because we are close and easy to chat with, it just diminishes its meaning.)
(Well, although there is always a special place at the second meeting.)
(I will never forget that. I could learn how to feel joy, how to feel sadness, and how to feel disappointed.)
(That's because one of us, actually, has been done with amusement parks since two years before we went to MannaLand.)
(And naturally, it has now become two people.)
('When there are no feelings left in the heart, what is there to look for in the Ferris Wheel?' So said that person to me. Although honestly...)
(I can say the same thing to him.)
