​I came across a poem on my professor's twitter page sometime ago...I hope you'll like it!

For the contest, feel free to write a poem which reads differently from top to bottom and from bottom to top! Any length and theme will be alright!:')

(ah the punctuation might not work well sometimes - but having a nice overall flow would be good already!^^)

I've typed up the poem below in case the image is a bit hard to read...I hope it helps!:

Our Generation

Our generation will be known for nothing.

Never will anybody say,

We were the peak of mankind.

That is wrong, the truth is

Our generation was a failure.

Thinking that

We actually succeeded

Is a waste. And we know

Living only for money and power

Is the way to go.

Being loving, respectful, and kind

Is a dumb thing to do.

Forgetting about that time,

Will not be easy, but we will try.

Changing our world for the better

Is something we never did.

Giving up

Was how we handled our problems.

Working hard

Was a joke.

We knew that

People thought we couldn't come back

That might be true,

Unless we turn things around

Lately our team at Penana worked with some aspiring artists on several Collaborative Drawing projects and we decide to hold a series of ‘Story Behind the Drawing’ Writing Contests with the artists' beautiful co-creations!

The exciting part of this special contest series is the winner of the contests will be able to bring home a copy of the featured drawing in the form of a postcard, specially crafted by Penana!

I once had a friend who wrote this poem...it was a bit short, but very moving though! I had a feeling you might all have similar stories which you'd like to share...poems, short stories or quotes, anything will do!:) I hope you'll all enjoy this contest!

I'm from

I am from makeshift forts

Yellowing old quilts, Duct tape

and overturned couches

From the blossoming sounds of black

and white keys

the Music whirling like a kaleidoscope

of colors in the air

I am from bulging leaf piles

From pen and from paper

Shady hammocks and shards of

broken glass glistening in dawn's light

- I smiled anyway and gave the boy

his frisbee back

I am from the caressing smiles of

Best friends, raucous laughter and goodbye hugs that last ten

minutes

From inside jokes and eyes that say more

than words ever could

I am from high expectations, goals and dreams

Hundreds of activities that sometimes make me scream

But in all the scrambling rush

the most important thing to me

Is who I choose to be.

Write a short story, any length, based on a single color, multiple colors, or a lack thereof! Can be any genre or rating, but try to keep it PG-13 or lower.

I dont write very much poems but i em really interested in reading your guys pieces. So any genre's, any style its my first contest. The winner will be picked based on the efort and rhyme, imagery and various other things. Write on ✊
