Hi everyone! There are very little contests on at the moment so I am adding one: local music! Basically pick a famous folk song from you're country/local area and just give a brief description of it. Also provide a link to it if possible. This is just to learn about other cultures and everything but I guess for the guidelines if you explain how it is relevant to your country's culture, history, etc. then that will help you win the contest :)

Rules:

Don't have one that is innapropriate/hateful to another culture or group, even if there is a reason as to why. We are not looking to talk about rivalries but friendship :)

Don't have a song with swearing. I think a song that anyone like children could hear/sing would be better.

I'd prefer if you pick one that isn't particularly obscure but if there is a really cool obscure one then please feel free to explain it :D

I had a book idea of someone receiving letters from a dead person. They can be from any time period and the piece can be from any length. You can either write a literal letter from the dead or write a short piece about someone receiving letters from the dead and what happens to them because of it.

Just remember to keep the contest appropriate and have fun :D

I have been recently thinking about time travel and how it could effect the world depending on what you do. With that in mind, write a piece about time travel! It could be with time paradoxes, or it could be someone trying to not change the timeline at all.

For all my created history buffs out there, this one's for you! Think of any notable or unique battle, or event and write in the perspective of a soldier or person in the event. For non history buffs it's a chance to research random and interesting periods of time :)

Love is a complicated thing. We can fall in love, but there's more to the word as just romance. It's about friendship and family too. It's about being alive, about hurting and feeling. In this contest I invite you to write a 100-150 word story about any kind of love. It can be romantic, but it doesn't have to be. Hiya! This is my first contest, so sorry if the description is a little weird. Regardless, though, I hope you have fun if you decide to enter!

Write me a story about someone blending in, but being found out by one of their peers! An example could be a werewolf trying to pass as human in high school, but one of their classmates walks in on them fighting a transformation. Another example could be someone of the LGBTQ+ community in the closet when a friend confronts them, a serious conversation about their identity following. This prompt is very vague on purpose, so there's lots of room for creativity and fun stuff. If you do have any questions about something, like, say you have an idea but you're not sure it fits the prompt, do shoot me a comment somewhere and we can talk about it.

Since I'll be the one judging these rather than letting the most likes decide the winner, here's some extra ideas if you want to really move me:

- Creativity! Do something unexpected with the prompt, or include a backstory with some original characters you've been drafting a backstory for!

- Emotion! I'm a sucker for works with lots of raw feeling, especially if there are dark themes.

- Big pictures! This one isn't as important as the others, but it's essentially commentating on problems in our society or some sort of generational trauma, something along those lines

- Effort! If I can see that you put lots of time and detail in your work, or you really put some thought into the prompt, I'll instantly fall in love with it...

Additionally, I'll be commenting on everyone's entries, so don't worry about me ignoring your writing. If you're hoping to receive criticism in your comment, be sure to add that in your entry, otherwise I'll assume you don't want any.
