When I walk into the woods, I feel like I am being watched, so I move just a little bit faster. I get to the middle of the woods about fifteen minutes later, but I don´t see Jorden. Where is he? Then, I hear his voice.
¨Hello, my love. I wanted to tell you a few things, but first
I need you to make a promise. Promise me that you will not run away, or scream, or tell anyone any of this.¨
¨Uh…I promise. Now, what is it?¨
¨First off, I am in love with you. I have been since I first saw you, and talking to you makes me love you even more.¨ I blush so much that I look like a tomato.
¨I…I…I love you too.¨ He smiles widely and his eyes start glowing bright as the sun.
¨In that case, be very still and close your eyes.¨
¨Umm…okay.¨ I do as he says, and soon after I feel him pulling me close and tilting me back.
¨Take a deep breath.¨ I do it. Then, I feel two sharp objects stick in my neck. The pain is unbearable, but it only lasts a few seconds, then I pass out.
I wake up what feels like only a few seconds later. I open my eyes and there is a lot of pain in my throat. It feels dry and it hurts. I sit up.
¨Ah, you're awake. Come with me.¨
¨No. First I want to know what happened. Why did two sharp…things…stick into my neck? And why does my throat hurt? Why is it dry? Why does it burn?¨
¨Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot about that. Okay, I am a vampire, I bit you, and now you are a vampire. Please, don´t freak out.¨ It takes me a minute to realize what he says is true. What makes me believe that he speaks the truth is this, I can see blood covering his mouth, teeth, tongue, and lips.
¨What?!¨ I scream, ¨How is this even possible? I mean, vampires aren´t real! And why would you bite ME?!¨ He looks very sad about me screaming at him. ¨I´m sorry for screaming, it´s just very confusing.¨
¨It´s okay, I get it. I bit you because I am in love with you, and want to be with you forever. Now neither of us will die, so that dream is now a reality.¨ I think about it for a few minutes. Maybe this could be a good thing. I will never die, and I will always be with the man…er, vampire…I love.
I think about it for a few minutes, then speak.
“Hmm…I wonder if…”
“You wonder if what?” I look him in the eyes.
“A few questions. One, why is my throat dry and burning so badly? Two, Since vampires ARE real, are there other real monsters out there? And three, will I need to kill people to live?”
He could tell I was still confused, so he answers as soon as I finish talking.
“Your throat is dry and burning because you need to drink blood. Yes, there are other monsters in the world. And finally, you have to kill to survive, it is the only way.”
¨I-agh!”
“We need to find you some blood, and quick.” He looks around in the kitchen. After a few minutes, he finds a water bottle containing not water, but blood.
“This is the last bottle of blood in the house. Next time, I will have to take you hunting.” He waits a few minutes, but I don’t drink it.
“Okay, then I have no choice. Take the cap off and smell it.”
“Huh?” I can see the serious look in his eyes, so I do it. After I take the cap off, I lean down to sniff it. As soon as my nose gets close to it, my eyes widen and I get a strange and incredibly strong desire to drink every drop of blood in the bottle. Apparently, Jorden could tell I wanted it, wanted it more than anything, because he smiled. I look up at him and he looks down at the bottle, then back up at me. Then I look at the bottle and drink it all in a few seconds.
A few seconds after I drink all of the blood, I go back to myself.
¨Huh? What…why…how…huh? What just happened?¨ He laughs at my confusion, and that makes me even more confused.
¨You're a vampire now, you can´t resist the smell and taste of blood. It gives you an uncontrollable urge to drink as much as you can. But knowing that there wasn´t any more blood in the house, the urge gave you your control back. Now that you are a vampire, it is dangerous for you to be around human blood, so you have to stay here for a while.¨
¨What about my family? And my friends?¨
¨I´m sorry to tell you this, but you can never go back to your family, and you can´t go back to your school for a few years. You can never see them again. If they see you, they will want you back.
If they get you back, you might drink their blood and kill them, then you will be even more miserable than if you never got to see them again. I really am very sorry.¨ I stay silent for a few minutes, anger building up. Then, I see the sadness in his eyes, sadness for me.
¨…It´s okay, I understand. You're just trying to help me, don´t worry.¨ He looks really surprised, so I try my best to explain. ¨I know that I will never be able to see anyone I know ever again, but hey, at least I´m with you, and at least I can still see them without them seeing me. I´m actually happy that all this happened, except I´ll really miss my brother-a lot…wait a minute! Is it possible that I can go into his dreams? You know, since I have a strong connection to him?¨
¨Hmm…it´s possible, but you´ll need some guidance. Can I help you?¨
¨Of course! I might actually be able to talk to my brother! Heck, yes!¨ He laughs at my excitement, then he speaks.
¨You will start practice tonight, after we hunt.¨ I smile so big that it looks like I have no eyes. ¨I think your going to like being a vampire.¨ He smiles.
When it turns exactly 8:00, Jorden comes to my new room and speaks.
¨It´s time to go hunting.¨
¨Okay!¨ We walk outside and he tells me how to control my speed. I get the hang of it after a few minutes.
¨You learn quickly.¨ he says to me.
¨Yep.¨ I say.
¨Follow me.¨
¨Alright.¨ I get ready to use my new super speed. He blasts off and as soon as he gets a few feet away from me, I follow. We run about four miles and then stop in the forest.
