"Alright class, remember to study chapters three and four over the break."
A set of grunts and moans came from the students. ”But it's almost Christmas. We should be spending time with our families, not reading about Queen Victoria." a student responded.
"Well Ronald, I’ll tell you what, you and anyone else who feels this way doesn’t have to do any studying over the break," Ronald and his nearby friends started hi-fiving and fist bumping. “But, I expect you to take your exams on the first day you return, since apparently you know enough about U.K. History that you don’t need to study, the others still have a week to review before their test.” Silence fell over the class, the boys had stopped being cheerful instead had adopted a look of regret, they sat back down in their seats.
“Sorry ma’am we will study.” Ronald said before taking his seat like the rest. Not long after he sat down the bell rang signifying the end of class and Alice dismissed the students.
Alice had been working at flint hill secondary school for two years. While she worked there she had made some friends among the staff, one had popped his head trough the doorway as the students were leaving the classroom, his name was Bill, and he was the first person to approach Alice when she first went to work there.
He is a man of average height at around 5'8", he has a head of brown hair that was always looked like he sat a bowl on his head before work, he worked down the hall in room A1-11 where he teaches Math. "We have another staff meeting in a few minutes. I wouldn’t be late or the next one might be about you." he said and started walking down the hall towards the teachers’ lounge, she had already done this enough to know how it went by now.
All the teachers had taken their seats in the teachers’ lounge by the time Alice had arrived. The teachers’ lounge is as big as one and a half classroom. On the sides of the room were shelves and drawers topped with a sink, microwave and other small kitchen tools, but due to fire hazards and heat they couldn’t have a stove or burner in there. This is where the teachers came during lunch to heat up there food or eat crisps.
In the back of the room is the entertainment section, complete with a TV, five windows computers, a radio, some two couches, and even a small pool table which was mostly hogged by four male teachers, there was also a door that lead to the back of the school which was the only place in school that allowed smoking.
The front of the room was the “Meeting area” this was where all the teachers were now, even the pool hogs. It’s is comprised of a row of chairs then some tables, in front of the tables and chairs was the podium, this was where the principal or whoever was talking would stand and speak to the staff, behind it there is a white board usually It was covered in scribbles and ideas of the science teacher who was also a part time inventor but today it only had the words “Staff Meeting” in big bold letters.
The room was filled with small chatter among the teachers, they were trying to figure out who had been replaced, or what subject the new people would teach. Some were even placing bets on which teacher had been replaced. There was only two people not talking, they were standing up front next to the board.
The first was tall and skinny with brown hair and a pair of tortoise shell glasses (Light Brown with Dark Brown spots). He towered over Alice, and was the same height as The Principal, the only other person in the school that tall. He wore a dark blue suit and dark blue trousers with a white shirt under, complimented with a tie. His outfit would be complete if he wasn’t wearing an out of place White Converse High Tops.
The other was short in comparison to the first, closer to Alice’s height. He was skinny, skinny to the point where you could kinda see the outline of some of his bone under his skin. He was wearing a light brown suit complimented with a Long Brown Cane, his hair was white and his face wrinkly. He looked old, old enough to be one of the students’ grandfather.
Only a few minutes had passed before the principal had arrived. The room fell silent and all eyes landed on him as he entered the room, he paused in the middle of the room and stared each teacher in the eye, his eyes lingered on a few teachers in particular, causing them to take a step back before he continued to the whiteboard to address all the teachers.
"Hello everyone, I am sure you all know why you're here. We have two new members to our, family. Hopefully you accept them with open arms just as I have accepted you into my school... The first is George," he said and the old man in brown walked up next to him and took a small bow. "Sadly, Edward had to leave us after five years of loyalty, George here will be replacing him as the new math’s teacher, please give him a round of applause." A few short claps came from the teachers as George walked away from the principal taking a stand next to the other teachers near the door.
"Next is John," The Young man in dark blue walked up next to the principal and waved. "He will be replacing Samuel as the new Care Taker. They will both start working here as of today, George will be placed in Edwards old room. Now that this is out of the way I want to address some other things."
