Space is the birthplace of mysteries; a mysterious binder with unbounded vagueness. Now we bear witness to one such terrible historical incident.
After nearly sixty decades of total change in every aspect of the earth, enter the 36th century and the human race developed very well as a species. Research centres all around the universe helped conquer all natural threats by flawless plans and unbelievable theories. Earth no longer suffered from water crises and there was no fear of pollution anymore.
Yin and yang always go hand in hand and it’s just the same for the peaceful lives enjoyed by the people. A couple of years ago, hyper-sensitive scanners in the space stations started picking up strange anomalies. With aid of technology it was predicted that two black holes were going to ram each other. An apocalypse at the end of which there would be one black hole. Based on Einstein’s general relativity theory, scientists furiously did their homework and the result was sour. Everyone now knows that if the black holes were to merge, then it would produce intense gravitational waves.
The nerds found that the waves could easily collapse our entire planet family. Because this imminent threat was predicted to pitch tent near our system, the people decided to build caverns and fortify the earth with hard materials from other planets in hopes of escaping the shredding blast waves. In addition to strengthening the planet, they decided to enhance all living beings by making them develop armoured skin. By using advanced genetic engineering, they spread a drug in the air. Soon the drug started kicking in and before anyone knew what happened, the fragile and soft skins of the humans and animals started to morph into a rocky protective shield. They sacrificed lots of things with a flicker of hope that they’d be able to ensure the continuity of their species even if it meant a drastic change in their appearance.
The Armageddon never stopped for coffee breaks. The black holes collided just as expected and created tremendous shock waves. With each passing second, the waves ripped apart everything in the vicinity that stood in their way and what was not shredded was left mutilated by the relentless contraction and expansion. Earth wasn’t shown any mercy either. Everything in the planet got ripped off the surface. As a part of the fortification plan, bunkers had already been constructed underground to be safe. The bunkers however, could only hold a couple hundred people and animals. Many succumbed to the initial waves.
After the incident, shape of the earth itself became oval. Thankfully, the shocks did not disrupt the planet’s orbit. No matter how advanced the civilisations were, the people in the bunker were literally blindfolded. They survived but after that, each passing hour was just a living hell.
After exactly 666 days, few spaceships arrived on earth with people from another star system in the neighbouring nebula for research after the wave patterns started showing up on their scanners as weak pulses. Their scientists joined hands with the human ones to work and fix the problems. The genetic mutations did pay off as the people would never have survived the blast if it wasn’t for the armoured skin. But now the effects had to be reversed as it was no longer needed and it wasn’t exactly the most comfortable armour. But day by day, the issues were abated, one by one.
Uncertainty isn’t a thing that happens. Uncertainty is all around us. It is science and faith that hold us together and teach us to conquer the snags we face. Sometimes we fail but the hope for a better tomorrow ignites the fire in us to get back our life at by a new path.
