Lelani's POV
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
"Not you again" I groan throwing a pillow at my alarm clock. When I woke all I could think about was Connor, and my knee who magically healed itself. Once again I rolled out of my bed, go to the bathroom, this time I had no time to listen to music, I just wanted to get to school for the first time in my life. I wash up, dry myself off, got dressed then head downstairs, "Mom I'm leaving early" I yell out, "OK honey love you," she says back. I start the engine and drive down the street, I enter the school doors and wait for my first period class, " ugh I hate math" I say, a little too loudly I look around to see if anyone heard me, nope I'm all clear. I look at my phone to check the time 7:35, "ugh" only ten more minutes, I walk over to the cafeteria to pass time, as I enter the cafeteria I see Leah, "oh thank god" I mumbled
"Hey Lani" she yelled while running towards me
"Hey Leah," I say with a smile.
RING!
"Shall we get to class?"I say
We start walking towards our math room when I see Connor, I stood there completely frozen, how am I going to ask him?, do I just say it straight forward? Or not say nothing at all?. He looked at me as if he knew I wanted to ask him something
"Lani what's wrong" Leah shakes my shoulders lightly
"Nothing I thought I saw a monkey," I say with another grin
"what where?!" Leah says looking around "wait a minute are you messing with me Lani?" she asked with a raised eyebrow
"Noo," I say showing a weak smile
We make our way over to our desks, Leah and I talk for a little while longer, then Miss Edwards walks in and ruins it all, Leah and I then decide to pace notes.
Leah's note
Hey have you seen that picture on Instagram that has a lady cooking, and she's holding a piece of chicken, she tells the chicken I'm going to bathe you in your babies, and she dips the chicken into raw eggs?
Lani's note
Hahaha no that's mean
Then I had a great idea maybe I should pass a note to Connor
Lani's note to Connor
Hey, can I talk to you after class?
I slip the note on the edge of his desk, it's been sitting there for 10mins now. "Are you gonna read it?" I say, without saying a word he grabs it and sends it back to me within 2 seconds
Connor's note
No.
What why? I ask myself
Lani's note
Why not?
I slip the note back to him, he takes it and sends it back to me
Connor's note
Because I said no
"Ugh really" I mumble to myself
I hear someone's chair scoot closer to me, "really" Connor whispers next to my ear with an angry tone, I don't even look over to him, I look at my phone to check the time, it's one minute until the bell rings, I don't want to wait so I walk out.
"Lelani wait up" I hear Connor running behind me "look I don't think we should be friends" he says out of breath, I look at him with disbelief "who said we were friends?" I say with slight venom, "I'm just saying I don't think we should communicate with each other at all, "I'm not a good person" he says, "you know what? I don't have time for this" I say and walk away leaving Connor.
Ugh, today I have soccer practice usually I love soccer practice, but today Connor pissed me off by saying we can't be friends who the hell is he the friend matchmaker?
Soccer practice went by quickly, I start heading home when I see Connor standing by his car, I walk over to him and automatically my blood starts to boil. "Who the hell are you to tell me we cants be friends?", "I will be friends with whomever I want!" I yell, "and what was that Monday when you touched my knee?" He stood there staring at me "Are you gonna say something!" I yell he just stood there looking at me," I hate you!" I yell and walk to my car, I drive home and sit in the driveway crying, again crying over a stupid guy.
