Covered in my pale yellow sundress as I sit next to Ross in his very own white mustang, the top down and the breeze flowing through my hair. Having been out on a few rides with Christopher in his vintage drop top Ross succumbed to buying his own model in white. We're playing a game, trying to remember the moments we've shared together, as the drive is over an hour and I love the way he smiles whenever I look at him. My Mr true blue, my rock, as he rides with one hand on the wheel and the other hand on bump.

"Do you remember when we first danced together" I smile over at him as he sweeps his hair back confidently.

"The first time we danced was when you came over to my house in California, I held you in my arms and if I remember correctly you were telling me how I had amazing natural rhythm" he smiles as my mind wanders back to that time, just eighteen year olds having fun. Although I had been with Matthew at the time, at the beginning of a relationship that would last for several years of my life. We were yet to fall in love and hold each other's futures in our hands. Unfortunately I now find that I can no longer look upon my time with him and see the positives. He has made it clear that he no longer cares, throughout some of the toughest moments of my life he has not been present. And so I will cease caring for him entirely just as he has done to me. As I remember his brown eyes I look out of the window and tell myself that he no longer exists, clearly he has morphed into somebody else who I no longer know.

"Do you remember the first time you told me you loved me" he smirks with a cheeky grin over his face as he rubs bump, his voice low and raspy as my mind flounders. I've said it many times to him, but the first has to be just after his motorcycle accident in our second year of university. He had propositioned me, and I had fled leaving him in the snow. Only to chase him through the wilderness of big bear lake with Jay on my tail not even an hour later. We found him unconscious in the road with several injuries. Looking over at him now slowly, the heat behind his eyes and how he rubs my bump in the Italian sunshine I smile thankful that he is alive.

"I told you I loved you when I found you in the road with a broken leg passed out. The snow around you" I whisper as he rubs bump and my hand subconsciously rubs his thigh, the one with the tattoo covering up his scars.

"Honestly that was the only thing that would have woken me up from my concussion" he laughs and I smile appreciating the time we had together, the people we were and all of the people we used to know. Now though I savour our future. How we've come together at the right point in our lives. Despite the past, and the pain of our immediate tragedies we are in love.

"I love us" I whisper and he chuckles, a low throaty sound as his hand rests on my waist. Bewildered he stares down at bump slowly and I follow his eye line utterly convinced I felt a jab. Staring up at him slowly as he meets my eyes briefly, the music playing softly over the speakers.

"I'm going to love you so so much" he whispers wiping his eyes as the baby jabs at him. My heart wanders away with itself, imagining him holding the baby when he or she is born. Although by no means is Ross a replacement for Jay, the children call him daddy and care for him just as intensely as he does us. How he is so gentle with our children, So patient with Henry, caring and loving of Emilia. It’s in these moments I realise that not only is he saving me, he is also giving them a family. Creating a safe loving space for my children in everything he does.

"Pull over and kiss me" I smile and he grins from ear to ear. The fields surrounding us are deserted only the olive trees bear witness to our moment. The sun sitting pretty above our heads as he pulls into the undergrowth and lets the mustang idle. He sweeps my hair back and holds either side of my face like a gentleman as he kisses me. Slowly at first, until my hands are in his hair and I'm gasping for more.

"I want you" he whispers sitting back and assessing the situation before he kills the engine and climbs out of the car. Walking around the front of the vintage car shirtless as I wait patiently to have my hands on him again. I hear the handle click as he opens up the passenger side and I smirk looking up at him before taking his hand.

The birds chirp and the sun splays down over my bare body lying on the upholstered seats of the back of the mustang. Exhilaration pulses through my veins as he lowers his body onto my own, I sweep his golden hair back and he smiles down at me. It strikes me, wildly, that he's never had sexual intercourse with a pregnant woman and I can only hope he's not utterly put off. Blue eyes linger on my breasts and sweep over the bump that is nestled between my hips before he lowers his mouth to my tummy and kisses it softly.

Ross gazes up at me and wipes the happy tears from my eyes and I whisper to him that I love him. His lips travelling over my chest and down my breasts. Over my ribs until he stops at the baby bump and kisses it tenderly. He assembles my clothes and dresses me as I laugh telling him that he is the ultimate gentleman.

We sit back in the front seats finally, clothed although his button up shirt sways open in the breeze. My sunglasses over my eyes as I hold his hand in my own. The countryside morphes into small towns before us and I realise that we're getting closer to the hospital. Although private healthcare can be expensive, the company has afforded me fees which cover the entirety of our family. Jay had unbeknownst to me signed off a few documents upon settling his agreement to be CEO which kept the family protected beyond his death.

The lane that takes you up to the hospital is surrounded by foliage and trees. It’s practically tranquil and serene as we cruise up to the old building in our mustang. A stately building that looks more like a hotel rather than a typical hospital. Ross carefully parks before helping me out of the car, I notice he buttons up his shirt before I wrap my arms around him and hold him in the midday sun.
