' Since I'm given a character selection with these race information , it might be a survival game ' she thinks of the updates her children might add to their game and finished the character when another screen appears ' Challenges ... Obviously I will pick solo , I'm not that good at teamwork and I'm not great as a leader '

She confirmed her challenge and turns into her character ' now this is amazing ' she looks around the forest and checks her inventory ' Now let's get my dagger ' a rabbit jumps behind her and she slashes without looking ' Let's also start farming some challenges '

Yuni checks the quest board , which shows different quest to be cleared ' Since there is an endgame bonus for sobriety , I should try my best to rack up some more challenges , knowing that those kids might make the final stage an impossible game unless I increase my own strength . So if I want to clear the game , I'll need a lot of challenges '
She recalls the list of challenges that were shown in the beginning labeling them as beginner levels ' It's too bad I couldn't select them all but maybe they made a system that would say "show your worth" if it could talk ' she selects a few quest to clean up her inventory of the corpses she got from her trek .
She kept her potions after seeing how much each one cost to buy and thought of the other challenges that she could receive and wondered if the difficulty of the challenge would also increase .
' I can't believe they put this ridiculous system ' she thought to herself as she received stat points from leveling up ' I ain't gonna use these , but maybe I could get another challenge '
She grabs another quest to clear , this time a quick quest to clear the nearby dungeon ' Traps , my nemesis ' she threw some pebbles from her inventory to trigger the traps and quickly ran towards it ' Being a cat beastkin helps in this quest ' she reached the end of the room and the quest was deemed as clear .
' At least the quests aren't so difficult that the players they kidnapped would at least grow stronger and survive . The only problem is this class system they have and skill too ' she levels up to level 5 and receives a notification ' This challenge is a good one '

" Oh I see , then I will lend you some skillbooks that we currently have " she checks the options , ignoring the very simple ones and grabs the ones that were much more difficult " If you want to learn more skills , you need to head to bigger places like the next cities "
She nodded , getting a library card for the skillbooks ' Since they built such a complicated world , their magic mechanics could be slightly different , but as long as the species remains similar , I can skip a few techniques that deal physical damage and focus on the other classes '
She uses her money to rent a space so that she could read some magic books ' At least the system is letting me read . I'd be bored to death or become a musician if I can't read ' meanwhile the NPC congratulates the first group that appeared .

He looks at the other challenges that she has ' she somehow unlocked some challenge I never heard of , is she a regressor ? ' he knew the rules that he had to follow and avoids asking about it .
" How did you get that N/A ? " Yuni gives him more info and he weighs the uses of this challenge and the value " thank you for your time " Yuni nodded ' Weird kid ' ' Is she not going to ask what challenge I have ? '
Haggis was confused by what Yuni's affiliation was and figured she was another variable ' Weird for a player to ask that , but this cosmetic challenge is really weird , guess it does give them information on what kind of weakness they could exploit from me but the N/A literally stops them from getting more than my stats '
She made a dark spear with the magic ' I've got some magic it will be useful later ... Maybe I should rack up more challenges ' Haggis returned to the quest board with a few challenges in mind ' N/A : Conditions , No use of stat points for level , use skills that aren't part of their current skill slots '
Haggis thinks of the many ways people could never learn of this ' It's common to start with a skill or two . Most people would use it immediately , the conditions for the N/A level mean you need to fight with your own strength but this will be useful when the viewers try to interfere '
Haggis takes a quest board prepared to get the N/A challenges and finally enters a quest ' I used my skill at the beginning , but if possible , maybe I can go to the church so that I can be forgiven for doing that '

Yuni tilts her head down at the kobold ' Ugh it's hard to beat this quest , It's one thing to kill a rabbit , but killing a kobold with intelligence is just murder ' she takes out a potion and beats them up while forcing them to drink up the potion .
' The potion only heals physical damage , so if I keep this up , I can come back here with less hard feelings on these folks ' she continued , doing so , giving the kobolds fear as she kept them alive and finally reached the chieftain .
" Another player ? " ' Man those kids have got to balance their game ' The chieftain swung their axe down and Yuni walked back to dodge ' Are they strong because I let myself stay weak ' Yuni stepped on the ax and slashed the chieftain's eye with a stick .
Agitated by this , they reached to grab Yuni and she smashed a poison gas container , causing the chieftain to weaken in stats ' oh right gotta keep up the challenge ' she coats herself with a weak shield to prevent the gas from affecting her .
Yuni aimed for the other eye ' Now we're both blind ' she punched the Chieftain in the stomach and proceeded to use more blunt force attacks , delivering punch after punch , now that the Chieftain has been weakened .

' Great punching bag ' she stops her flurry of attacks and tosses the health potion as soon as she gets the reward and returns to the starter village ' Ahh , there it is , these challenges are really easy to come by '

She skimmed through the description and was curious about the next phase of the tutorial ' I'm sure they don't mind me hacking it for a bit , not like I was cheating ' she checked the next stage ' Oh well , now that's gonna be hard , but I like the challenge '
She turns back to Mercy again ' I still need to do this thing and then I'll head to the next quest ' Yuni went to the church again and sees the priest " Oh what would you like to do ? " Yuni shows the prompt to the priest .

" Why did you not kill them ? " ' How do I say that ' Yuni pointed at her status window at the intelligence stats " You think they are smarter " she shook her head " Perhaps it's because you think a kobold is more valued because they are like people being able to think and have ideologies ? "
She nodded " It seems you are willing to accept this challenge , but do you plan to do it because you wish to show mercy ? " ' This is hard ' Yuni drew some food , specifically things like meat and some apples .
" I see you worry if you should show mercy to them " Yuni nodded " We indeed raise livestock to be slaughtered , plants to be cut down . But if you don't do most of the killing , you will crumble the delicate balance of nature . it's the law of the jungle "
' Oh that's right ' " Mercy is a very vague word , we show mercy by relieving a king of his crown whose weight has weakened his spirit , Killing a person who has suffered enough is mercy and so continuing the cycle of killing is still mercy , without death life can't be fed "
' How insightful ' Yuni wrote some words and hands it out ' Looks like this player is ready ' a symbol of wings with a golden halo appears behind her head and she heads out ' I'm pretty ready for this tutorial stage , but the one thing I'm curious about is where did those kids get such an insightful priest ? '
She checks the time until the tutorial stage and goes out on a quest . while she goes out doing quest several people were entering the village many which survived due to luck .
A week later , she looks at the streets riddled with some beggars ' They usually don't kidnap weak people like these , but then they don't make challenges like Mercy either . Are they playing mind games on me ? '
While she is trying to see through her children , she threw some quest papers to the beggars ' Give money to a beggar and they feed themselves for a day , teach them how to make money , then they're no longer a beggar '
She watched her mercy challenge progress bar ' It's pretty slow , but it is cheaper than giving gold coins ' She continues to toss out sheets of quest papers that she had gathered from the NPC's which allowed her to give the beggars something to do instead of going out to hunt or train .
' Now I need to do some quest ' she takes a hunting quest paper from the mission board and leaves again while Haggis was still confused by her affiliation .
' She has only been challenging herself with the challenges she already have , avoiding any poison or elixir , doing training sessions , learning to use sign magic to form words , a new casting system and just now became some sort of messiah and where did she find those kinds of chores ? '
' What is this stalker doing ? ' she couldn't feel a strange feeling over her , thinking it was likely her cosmetics challenge forcing her information to everyone's faces the moment they wished to know a thing about her .
' It seems like he wants to know more about my life but he should be paying up shouldn't he ? ' Yuni enters the forest and Haggis follows her ' I mean it's not a problem if he's just stalking me I don't feel any other intent other than curiosity and not the dangerous one just investigative curiosity ... but what are they investigating '
' What is her deal ? She is getting harder and harder to trail ' Yuni does some hand movements and creates a text that floats in the air "You there , why are you following me ?" Haggis quickly distanced himself , but couldn't sense any killing intent .

She grabs a diary , taking a few more with her and pays . She returns to the inn and has some meal while overhearing the news of the disadvantages of doing quest in groups ' It's just the same thing everyday . Traitors , reward division and nepotism , glad I go solo '
While she was enjoying the extra perks of Solo , the first stage loads ' Finally it's here ' she goes to buy many necessary items from the shop and finally enters the game .

' I have another ally with me , but do I want to kill ? ' she looked over the details of mercy while everyone else drew their cards . The room brightened up , revealing every player's faces ' I'll check this later ' " So everyone is clear on what the rules are ? "
While everyone was busy talking to each other , Yuni could sense her fellow witch's anxiousness ' Make sense if you see my challenges ' " Can you prove you aren't one of the witches ? " They asked Yuni and she pointed at a status screen which appeared in front of everyone .
" Huh , doesn't that mean you are forced to be the villager ? " Yuni simply nodded "I can't get any skills from the system because of the challenge I have" " At least we can communicate with you " everyone reads the text Yuni made as they communicated .
" But this Solo challenge won't it be bad for us ? " "It's okay as long as my contributions don't reach beyond 50% you can keep your rewards without monopoly being triggered" the villagers were placed in a dilemma because they needed the reward .
"I can keep my mouth shut , to avoid racking up contributions , but if you feel like you can't survive , you can ask for my help" The witch , on the other hand was devising a plan and so everyone continued to try to prove that they are a villager and eventually they all returned to their designated houses .
Night fell and the villagers were forced to go to sleep while Yuni watched the Witch's house and saw them come out ' Perfect ' she pinned them down and subdued them before anything else could happen .
' There is no rule that says I have to kill , plus if I spare a murderer , the mercy challenge progresses much faster and there might be a hidden piece ' She takes them to her place and stuffed them in a secret compartment in the basement .
The next day " A villager is gone already " they start to discuss among themselves " We don't know each other very well yet , maybe we should just calm down and not risk losing another villager . "
They all looked at Yuni , who was watching them all calmly " You wouldn't have heard of anything at night right ? " ' Of course they would ask me , they know how good my stats are so it would make sense '
"I'm not sure what I heard , I am blind , I only heard the noises but not the right directions" ' Not proving any use could backfire on me ' Lily thought and she doesn't know that everyone here is a murderer , they all want to win .
She thinks of how easy it is to prove her innocence " But if we were to vote , how would we know they are a witch ? " " The game says it will tell you in a way when we vote , but I say we all skip " everyone agreed aware that they don't have enough information .
' It looks like they all want to keep the rewards but also avoid suspicion ' " Maybe we can stay awake ? " " Not sure if that is possible , when night falls , there is always a mist that forces us to sleep " ' But with that thing that she has she can stay awake hence why I asked her for information ' a villager thought .
Yuni just stayed silent , waiting for them to look at her and figure out her sobriety challenge . They did notice the challenge and gathered together " Do you think we should ask ? " " But if we ask , her contribution rate might increase " " So what ? We get to live and that's all I care about "
They all looked at her and asked " How did you get the sobriety challenge ? " Yuni tells them but also gives them a tip "But when I received the Mercy challenge , I had to go to a confession room , which required me to reflect on the things I killed before getting it you might have to go through something similar"
" Can you tell us how you got it ? " "It was a long process but with the help fo the priest I was able to get it I think by being forgiven that was what a confession room is for . In the first place , you need to have access to alcohol or something that can inflict a status effect to do it ... Maybe the more potions you have that do this , the more likely you get the challenge ?"
Yuni's guesses on the challenge conditions were a lot , but still useful and it can even be said that Yuni is helping her enemy however ' What would they think if I pulled out more poison than healing potions ' these thoughts coursed through all the murderers' minds .
" Do you have any alcohol ? " they asked Yuni as they compiled all of their potions while keeping a few poisons inside their inventories "Why would I have it with my challenge ? I have some juices but that doesn't count"
They could all tell how calm Yuni was thinking of how it was possible for her to simply stay awake because of the challenge " Then can you keep watch ? "
"I need rest too , how about this instead . I will help you all gain the challenge Sobriety . we don't rest at night and simply stay awake while in the morning we take turns to sleep ."
They all think about the benefits of the sobriety challenge ' I could be immune to poison and I won't need to build up tolerance ' such thoughts continued in there head while Yuni was thinking .
' Obviously Sobriety isn't just about that , even though it does make you slightly immune it doesn't work that well it just gives you a bit of resistance depending on the progress , you'll lose it automatically if you consume a powerful poison or elixir . But I don't need to tell them that yet . '
Yuni spent the day training everyone and only one villager was left without the sobriety challenge ' NO no no no the witches are going to target me for sure ' " Maybe we can be in the same house "
They tried , but it didn't work " No no no please help me " They all assumed they would be the next victim tomorrow , while Yuni was thinking of her mercy challenge .
' Cosmetics only shows the challenges I'm doing , but not the progress , so that means I can spare the villager and get my reward soon although it's weird that it's progressing so quickly is mercy hard to do in this game or are those kids just making me soft so I don't beat them up later ? '
Yuni walked to the house of a random villager with Sobriety and subdued them ' Now there are two people that are missing , but they'll think they are killed . At least I had confirmed that only the witch can enter other people's houses , I'm gonna have to do some incredible acting when they discover this later if I'm bad at this '
She takes down another one too , to keep the illusion of two witches being around and finally , morning came , everyone was groggy from the lack of sleep and noticed the two additional people that were gone .
" Two people this time " they all looked at the person who didn't have sobriety " No I'm not the Witch . I fell asleep too " " But we can't exactly prove with just that " ' Which is why I gave them a poison they couldn't detect '
Yuni looked at the hay at the center , happy to see that it was just the way she wanted to . The villager was voted out .

" So she was a witch , no wonder she put a lot of effort during the practice " ' glad that the game was cooperating , there won't be any villages tomorrow and no one will die today ' beneath the ashes of hay , the villager fell into a tunnel Yuni dug from her .
