‎"Dear diary..."

‎

‎This is how it all began.

‎

‎After Zara left, Aliya had no one.

‎So she started talking to her diary.

‎Not out loud — but with words only the pages could hear.

‎And those pages? They became her best friend.

‎

‎In 9th grade, while everyone else was laughing, playing, living…

‎Aliya was busy writing.

‎

‎Miss was teaching.

‎Zayan was laughing with his friends.

‎And Aliya was quietly writing in her notebook:

‎

‎"He didn’t look at me again today…

‎But it’s okay.

‎I live in a world next to his —

‎in my imagination."

‎

‎Her imagination felt more real than life.

‎In her mind, Zayan would ask,

‎“Are you okay, Aliya?”

‎And she would smile and say, “Yes…”

‎

‎But only in her daydreams.

‎

‎Lunch break.

‎Farah and Farhan were back at it — arguing like always.

‎

‎Farah: “You talk too much nonsense.”

‎Farhan: “And you act like a boring documentary.”

‎

‎Everyone laughed.

‎Aliya smiled too.

‎But not truly — her real smile was hidden, written between lines in her diary.

‎

‎That night, she wrote:

‎

‎"In my world…

‎Farah and Farhan are just side characters.

‎Zayan talks to me.

‎He cares.

‎He stays."

‎

‎One day, Miss saw her diary — just the cover.

‎She smiled and said,

‎“You’ll be a writer someday, Aliya.”

‎

‎Aliya gave a soft smile.

‎But when she went home that night, she wrote:

‎

‎"Do real writers write for the world?

‎Or do they write for one person

‎who will never read it?"

‎

‎That day, she gave her diary a name:

‎"Behind the Mask."

‎Because that’s how she felt.

‎Always hiding.

‎Always smiling from the outside.

‎But crying inside — on every page.

‎

‎Her diary was her best friend.

‎Her secret.

‎Her only place to be real.

‎

‎Will Zayan ever read it?

‎Will he ever know…

‎that the quiet girl he never noticed

‎was writing a story — just for him?

‎
