“Seriously, Puck?” I ask him with a nervous laugh. What makes him think that we started dating? I can see Kenza blushing out the corner of my eye.

I put my phone down on the floor beside me and look around my room before I get up to start packing. Without a word Kenza also gets up goes back to packing her pile of stuff on the bed.

I grab a bag out of my closet and just start throwing random clothes in it. After I finish that I go to the bathroom and pack all that I need from there.

We were packed and had everything loaded in the car before the hour was over.

Now we’re standing in the living with my parents talking about the rules and other stuff for while we’ll be gone. They were the basic rules plus some saying that we can’t go out past 11 and we must watch Alice.

“Bye Mom, Dad.” I say, trying to hurry us out so we could be there soon. “Thank you for letting us go.” I add on the end.

“Bye son. Don’t forget to call us when you get there and every so often so we know you guys are okay.” Dad says. That was one of the rules: we had to call every so often and let them know what’s been going on.

“We put some money into an account for you guys to get a hotel room and for food and whatever else you need.” Mom adds on. “Here’s the card to the account. Please don’t just blow this money fast. We may have money but we don’t have an unlimited amount. So please, spend it considerably.”

“Thank you! You guys are amazing!” I hurriedly thank them. I was so happy that they were allowing us to go and giving us so much responsibility. It was amazing.

Neither Alice nor Kenza were in the truck yet, they were still saying their goodbyes. Everyone had now come outside into the front yard. I left my door open so I could hear what was said between my parents and Kenza.

Kenza was standing there awkwardly, not knowing what to do till Mom pulled her into a hug. The surprise was clear on Kenza’s face as she was pulled in, then she slowly wrapped her arms around Mom also.

“I’m sorry for the way I was acting, sweetie.” Mom apologizes to her.

“No it’s not.” Mom says, stopping Kenza from saying that it’s okay. “I had no right to act that way towards you. My son was doing the right thing and helping out his friend who was in need. I’m proud of him for that. Even though I was not happy at first. I understand why he did it though.”

Kenza was speechless for a few moments. She went to pull away from the hug but Mom leaned in and whispered something in her ear. I couldn’t hear what she said but whatever it was it made Kenza blush and nod.

Next Dad also hugged Kenza. Giving a simple apology and wishing her good luck to be living in a one room hotel with me for as long as we were staying.

While Dad was talking to Kenza Mom had pulled Alice into a tight hug and told her to behave and to listen to me. She also double checked that Alice had everything she would need before giving her a huge kiss, on the cheek goodbye.

Kenza came and got in next to me in the passenger seat and we watched Alice say bye to Dad. I closed my door so I could talk to Kenza without any of them over hearing.

I made sure Alice was buckled up and then started to back out of the driveway. Mom and Dad stood on the front yard still, waving bye and Alice and Kenza were waving back. Kenza was still smirking at me.
