There was a young little girl who loved black birds, every day she would wake up early just to see the black birds on the tree branch, that right next her window. She enjoyed their singing, the glow in their eyes and the many conversations she had with them. There were three birds, the biggest one she called Prince, the mother bird she called Cindy and the baby bird she called Pinklett. All named from the characters of her favorite cartoons. Ashley would take her story books and read aloud to her birds in an expressionate tone just as how she heard Mrs Baker read to the class.
It was in the summer of 1999, that Elaine was told there would be a storm heading for the state of Connecticut where they lived. It was all that was being broadcast on the news channel and on the lips of the neighbors. On that fateful day of August 30 1999, the skies were overcast, the winds were whistling and their was a frantic panic to get all emergency supplies ready. Elaine's greatest fear was for her friends, Prince, Cindy and Pinklett. She hugged her teddy as overwhelming fear gripped her. The rains came showering down , harder than she could ever remember hearing. Then came the lightening and thunder. The storm sounded so angry, Elaine was so horrified, she only found comfort in her mother's arms.
'Elaine! Elaine!, wake up," Mrs Brown said. Mommy, are my birds safe? Is the storm over, Elaine exclaimed in a frightening and worried tone. " There was no storm, it was only a dream," Mrs Brown said as she kissed Elaine on her left cheek.
