We all laughed during breakfast, even Everett, who wasn't talking about aliens. The sun shined through the window letting in rays of peacefulness. It was nice to see everybody smiling. Soon Everett would be going home. I couldn't help but notice him and Marissa holding hands under the dining room table. Jemma even ate some food and September actually talked.
The speakers sounded. "Visiting hours!" Sylvia said.
I ran to the door and my dad walked in. "Daddy!" I said, hugging him.
"Who are you and what have you done with my daughter?" He laughed.
"You're daughter is evolving to daughter 2.0." I said.
I led him to the great room where we sat down and talked about how I have been doing. He said I am a completely different person. I told him about all the crazy breakdowns and Tuberculosis. I brought up September and his brother and my soy sauce plan. I talked about getting Jemma to eat. I even told him I read some of the Bible, not that he believed me. Once again, me and my father were bonding and it felt like everything was returning to normal. He didn't try to push any responsibilities on me or talk about work. He just sat and talked and laughed.
"This building looks like it's rotting." He commented.
"It literally makes you more suicidal." I grinned.
"It's not funny." He replied. "But I will let that one go."
It was hard saying goodbye to my dad. I feel like I may not ever get out of here.
I decided to take a nap during lunch and was rudely awoken to a loud screech.
"She's gone!" Marissa screamed. I jumped out of bed and ran down the hall to find Everett hugging Marissa who was screaming and crying.
"Whats going on?" I asked.
"Tuberculosis is gone!" She yelled back at me.
"Oh. Hell. No." I said. Stomping towards the from desk. September ran after me.
"Calm down, please." He said.
"Who did this?" I yelled at the nurses. "Who took the panda?"
Sylvia stepped out from behind the desk "I'm going to have to ask you to calm down, Violet."
"No!" I hit the glass wall dividing the worked from the great room. "Tell me who did this!" My heart was filled with rage and nothing was going to stop me.
"Daniel! I yelled at one of the nurses. It was you, wasn't it?" I glared into his soul. He led me into the hallway.
"You need to calm down, Miss Varella." He said.
"Do you have the damn panda?"
"Yes, I do. It was recommended that we take it away."
"Give it the fuck back, right now!" I screamed.
That was it. That was the moment that I completely lost. I can't remember everything I screamed, but fury flooded out of me. Next this I know, the nurse swings his fist right into my temple and I stumble over. I couldn't feel my head throbbing and my eyes began to roll into the back of my head.
"No!" September yelled. It was the first time I'd ever heard him raise his voice. He leaped forward and instantly began hitting Daniel. First, in the back of the head. He got him pinned on the ground.
"September, stop!" I begged. Second, he punched him in the eye. Daniel cried for help. Security arrived and tried tackling September, but they couldn't get his fit of rage to end. Third, September hit him with force, directly in the mouth, taking his teeth with him as he lifted him arm back into the air. "Please!" I screamed. Jemma ran towards me and dragged me away from the violence. I felt as if this battle would never end. Fourth hit, in the jaw. The fight continued until Daniel's blood covered the floor. I could almost hear the impact of the strong hits against Daniel's bones. Jemma covered my eyes and held me close as they sedated September. He dripped with sweat until he fell on the floor, unconscious. I held in all my tears.
I stayed up all night sitting on the outside of the door of the room that September was locked in, gripping my stomach which ached from stress.
