AMIRA’S P.O.V.
My heart was once again burning, my stomach felt hollow, I could not read it any further. It had been 15 minutes from the time I stopped reading, anger and the feeling of betrayal left my heart long ago.
Though I badly wanted to read it further I could no longer swallow any more truth. I walked away and sat in the place where I sat about an hour ago when the Davis had come.
He left the papers on the table with a note. The note read:
“Dear Amira, I was more than a lawyer to Jacob and you are my sister, let me know if you need any help from me.”
I had a lot of things to figure out. So I got up and locked the door and started walking. My legs knew exactly where to go as I have been going there almost every week my life, Hanna’s House. Or should I know call it her fake house.
It was locked, obviously. I knew how to get in though, obviously again. I walked around the lawn and got inside the house via the kitchen door. No ever gets to know as this is covered with a lot of plants. As I entered many memories of her came to me. I was no longer angry but I was in fact worried where she would be. I don’t know these days there is so much going on I completely forget stuff.
I walked towards her bedroom in search of some clues. It was the same as the last time I came in, same peach colour wall with a many pictures of mainly her and myself. I sat on her bed and looked at the pictures, it is wonderful how pictures can tell so many things. Tears scrolled down, but I was not going to give up I was going to find her, bring me Hanna back to me. I got up and searched her closets and her table. I could find nothing, literally nothing.
As I was walking out, my eyes met something abnormal. Since it has been many days since anyone had been there, the whole place was covered with dust particles. And thus I found some fingerprints in her bookshelf. The whole area was covered with dust, and except this one area. It seemed like someone very recently had used this book. I pull the book out and it was Hamlet of William Shakespeare. Hanna used to have a great love for classics and that explains why the book was kept there. But other than that why would anyone come and read hamlet and go. I grabbed the book and left for other rooms.
Nothing, everything seemed normal. As I entered the living room, I found the window wide open and it had footprints.
Someone had definitely come here. As the investigation is on, they checked this place once and that too long back, so it is nearly not possible they had seen this. I quickly grabbed my phone and scrolled down my contacts list, and there stood Dect. Pentasia. I quickly hit call, and soon she attend the call.
“Hello, this is Amira.”
“I Know, is everything okay?” Pentasia said.
“Dect. I want you to see something, please come to Hanna’s house. I hope you know where it is.”
“Yeah okay, I will be there is 5.”
She said before the line went dead. After 5 minutes she was there and knocked, and then I went and welcomed her. She did not say anything, she just followed my lead and stopped as soon as she saw the footmarks.
She examined the whole area and then said as fast as a bullet. “It definitely has to be two people, I stood here the entire time guarding and the other went straight to that room.” She said pointing at Hanna’s room.
“That room is Hanna’s Room.” I said, astonished how smart she was to come up with a theory that fast.
“But it is defiantly not robbery. They came for one thing, not for the money.” She said looking at the ground. And then she looked at me, “What were you doing here?” she said. “I just felt that we might find something useful here.”
She nodded and walked towards the room, and examined every bit. And then as she reached the bookshelf, she said, “A Book is missing. Maybe that what they came for.” I knew she was somewhat right. I handed over the book and told her the entire story of the mark in the bookshelf. She simple nodded grabbing the book in my hand and started examining it.
“There is nothing in it.” I said. “No, it seems you have not observed it properly.” She says her eyes still in the book.
“This book does not belong to Hanna, it belongs to the Newham Library, and the most interesting part is. It has crossed its due date.” She said. I felt that crossing of due date is normal but as I was about to say something, she continued, “It’s due for 16 years, and the day it had to be returned, the whole library was burnt. That’s why these pages are partially burnt.”
16 years ago, that’s when Jacob parents were killed. I grabbed the book and my doubts were cleared they were related. The day his parents were killed and the day this had to be returned was the same day
were they related?
