Things that might inspire you to write

I don't just mean the typical "oh I love teen werewolf drama so I will write a teen wolf drama" (No offence to anyone, just example) I mean like a view changing event that you have seen or read or learnt about that made you really think about life itself.

For me it I remember reading an article about depression and manipulation, It was 1 year before It really hit me. My first thought was "Wow that's horrible, how could that happen?" but It never changed my life until a friend of mine was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, it shook her world and I began seeing things from a different view.  [Edit: Had to take this part out because it Triggers. :( ] I became inspired to write a story which really displays what people, friends, families can feel like.

What has inspired you? It can be something good... something less cheery, maybe something that happened to you or a friend or neither! What is your Deeper inspiration?

depression and abuse-the story of my life. I write to escape what i knew. To find peace and hope in the darkness. To prove i survived and to prove to myself i'm still living

That's amazing that books open a portal to a safe haven! Writing is truly an art.

I write for pain, joy, and what others would call mundane. I constantly hear or see pain in my friend's lives or even my own. Joy, because people need to laugh and it's just struggling to come out of my words. The mundane, because people miss the beauty in something so small like the old swing, the long drives, the tears you shed when alone, the fur on a kitten, the beautiful voice of your friend, and that little sticky note hanging on your desk, reminding you of why poodle is a weird name for a dog. This is inspiration, and why I write.

Although I do have an interest in history, particularly the first and second world war, I never truly understood the hardships the people I read about went through. It wasn't until I was much older and had gone through some tough times myself did I begin to realize how awful things must have been for many of the people who had lived in the past (like the soldiers in the trenches of WW1 or even the people lived through the Great Depression for example). While I never experienced the things the people I mentioned above did; I began to get a better understanding of the pain and anguish I read about, it no longer seemed distant to me.
One of the reasons why I write so much historical fiction (besides my passion for it) is that I can put myself and a reader into the shoes of people who lived in the past. To be able to find a connection with generations previous is an amazing thing to behold. Writing is also an escape. If I can focus on the problems of my characters for a few moments in time than I find I can cope much easier with whatever challenges I face.

I am inspired to write about topics that aren't often spoken about in writing (meaning I write about some topics such as persecution, life or depression a bit differently than other writers tend to do sometimes), such as the importance of life (I am very much someone who is pro-life, so I write about it a lot.), or persecution, war, redemption, spiritual warfare, depression, purity, death, and many other topics.
I also take situations that either friends or myself have gone through, and write about them.
(An example of this is my story, Lion.)
I am inspired by many genres of writing, especially psychological, supernatural, dystopia, romance or tragedy.
I also like taking dull things and roles like and creating a lesson from them (so like Pencil Melody, but a bit different XD).
I am also inspired by the Bible, and allegory.
I enjoy writing about my faith.
One question though.
Anyone else inspired by music?

Music serves as a big inspiration for my writing too.

My own personal experiences inspire me to write. I suffer from constant Anxiety so I use the events that I go through with that to create my own characters and plots. That's just one example though.

My stories are usually 10% of my personal emotions and 90% of imagination and gibberish. I have no reason for this other than 'reality is stranger than fiction'--it takes effort to translate real life emotions onto paper, where everyone who reads it may feel the same. Thus, I usually grab bits and pieces of my personal life and slap those characteristics onto my characters and put them in the worst scenarios I can think of.
