Carmine rushed through the town, eyes on the prize, a few paces away was Ari.
Soon, she knew the price would be hers, a Pecha berry covered in honey.
Thinking of the prize made her even more determined to win the race.
But.....that's when Herrah raced past her.
At that heartbreaking moment, an ear shattering screech rushed through her sensitive ears.
The smell of fresh blood flooded her nose.
Carmine, being the heroic idiot she was, raced towards the source of the screaming and blood.
Her eyes widened in shock and confusion as she realized who was causing all the panic.
"Nanu!", Carmine screamed.
Nanu, Ari's uncle, one of her friends was rampaging through the town.
Carmine knew him very well, but this Pokemon was nothing like the calm, honest, docile Pokemon she had come to admire.
Nanu was completely berserk, his brown paws soaked in blood,
Carmine looked at the dead bodies below Nanu's blood stained paws.
She let out a cry of despair as she looked at the scarred faces below him.
A few civilians laid below him, among those bodies was Herra's younger brother, and laying lifeless beside him was.....her own.....mother.
Her legs buckled below her, her eyes clouded with grief and despair.
'How could this awful nightmare be happening?', Carmine wondered, staring hazily at her mom's mutilated dead body.
Carmine was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice the, now, demented, homicidal Nanu running straight towards her.
She looked up, meeting Nanu's crazy stare.
His eyes...were red.
Instead of the kind blue-eyed stare she was used to, she was seeing boiling red eyes, they were glowing fiercely, not at all matching his light Leafeon body and Solgaleo mane.
Nanu lifted his paw, light reflecting off of his small claws.
Carmine begged her feet to move, but fear held them still, tears streamed down her fluffy white and blond face.
She closed her eyes and braced of her vision to go dark and her soul to fly away from her body.
Carmine's eyes flew open as she heard an ear splitting screech.
She looked up to see an Absol with fur like a Swirlixes candy and a stunning mane like a Pyroar.
Soon, he spoke in a deep voice.
"You alright, little lady?", his deep brown eyes stared at her.
"Uh, yeah, I-I'm fine", Carmine looked at what the strange Pokemon was standing on.
Carmine took in a deep breath as she saw Nanu with an oversized spear impaling his head.
She looked up again and saw that the odd Pokemon was gone.
Her vision was blurry as she turned around.
"Carmine!", she turned around at her name.
She saw Ari, Herrah, Mika, and Kia.
The voices of her faded in her ears.
Carmine watched numbly as Herra ran towards the dead body of her brother.
Black spots filled her vision.
Her mother's death remained in her mind, before the the world faded to black.
