*The scene opens in a dark bedroom, lit dimly by moonlight through a cracked window. A man, ALEXANDER, is leaning over a bed with a knife in hand. The camera pans to reveal a woman, SELENE, sleeping in the bed. Tears begin to pool in ALEXANDER’s eyes as he gazes at her. SIMON's hand touches his shoulder. ALEXANDER shudders, closing his eyes.*
SIMON: Don’t start this, Alexander. If you don’t do it, you know what I have to do.
*ALEXANDER shakes his head, tears streaming down his cheeks*
ALEXANDER: I love her, Simon. I can’t do this anymore, you’ve gone too far-
*ALEXANDER’s eyes become glossy, choking on his words. An unsettling gasp can be heard as SIMON presses a knife deep into ALEXANDER’s stomach. ALEXANDER slumps over on the bed, trembling atop of the sleeping SELENE. SIMON drags the bloody knife quietly away from ALEXANDER, his body shuddering once before lying lifeless*
SIMON: Weak.
*SELENE jolts up, awakened by her husband’s weight on top of her. She lets out a scream at the sight of ALEXANDER and the blood gushing relentlessly from his wound, staining the sheets red. Her head turns slowly to SIMON standing above him.*
SELENE: Simon…
*SIMON smirks lightly, looking back at the woman with cold, narrowed eyes.*
SELENE: I knew it. You monster.
SIMON: He was a coward, Selene. I should hope you understand.
*SELENE jerks out of bed, grabbing the knife from her husband’s cold hands. She yells and stabs SIMON in the shoulder, but not before he stabs her in the stomach. SELENE lets out a sharp breath and a gulp. She grabs ALEXANDER’s hand as she slumps over on the bed, lifeless next to her perished lover. SIMON staggers in pain, tearing a piece of the bedsheet to put pressure on his bloodied shoulder. He stumbles out of the bedroom, several Grimlands knights racing towards him.*
Grimlands Knight 1: Simon! What happened, my lord?!
SIMON:(Groaning in pain)Greendale attackers! They came in the night and murdered Selene and Alexander Clarke! I tried to stop them, hearing their cries for help, but as I arrived, I realized I was too late. Alex was dead, and they stabbed me as I attempted to save Selene. They escaped through the window before I could yell for help.
Grimlands Knight 2: My lord, you need medical attention at once!
Grimlands Knight 1: (Horrified as he walks into the murder scene)Alexander! Selene! They… they really are dead.

*Maneater by Nelly Furtado starts to play as the black screen fades into a metal boot being fastened by PETRA. The camera pans up as she attaches an arm plate and straps a sheath around her waist. The lyrics begin as the camera zooms out, and PETRA is seen walking towards a mirror, tying her hair back in a low braided bun. She takes her sword and puts it in the sheath, walking out of her room.*
*The song fades out as PETRA steps onto a training ground, filled with other knights*
FRANCIS: (Whistles) You got a boyfriend? You should come over to my place!
PETRA: (Scoffs) Like I would ever want to be in the same room as that mullet.
FRANCIS’ FRIENDS:(Laughing at FRANCIS)
*SIMON calls over PETRA from a corner in the grounds*
SIMON: Petra! You’ll be sparring with Francis today.
PETRA: Ugh, Francis?! You know I hate him.
SIMON: All the better for you to spar with.
PETRA: I guess. (Rolls her eyes)
*PETRA walks over to get a practice sword from a rack and prepares her shield in the sparring grounds. FRANCIS walks over confidently, snickering.*
FRANCIS: This is gonna be way too easy.
PETRA: For me.
SIMON: Begin!
*FRANCIS charges toward PETRA, sword raised and ready. He strikes as PETRA casually moves out of the way, leaving FRANCIS to dive headfirst into the dirt. The other knights howl with laughter as FRANCIS gets up, angered and embarrassed, his face caked in dirt. PETRA shrugs, smirking.*
PETRA: Don’t get too confident.
FRANCIS: (Growling) I was just warming up.
*FRANCIS charges toward PETRA once more, this time from the side. PETRA grabs his shoulder and jumps over FRANCIS, leaving him in the dirt again.*
PETRA: So was that a warm up too?
*FRANCIS mutters under his breath, wiping dirt from his face and hair. This time PETRA charges first, sliding under FRANCIS and clashing her sword against his back. A buzzer goes off, and the other knights laugh at FRANCIS and congratulate PETRA. FRANCIS glares at her from off the sparring ground, grumbling.*
FRANCIS: I’ll get you back for this! Just you wait.
PETRA: Sure.
*SIMON makes his way to the crowd, waving to PETRA.*
SIMON: Petra! You’ve done great. I would expect no less, seeing as how you took after me.
PETRA: (Proud) How could I not? You’re the best swordsman around!
SIMON: (Chuckling) You flatter me, Petra.
*PETRA smiles and leaves the grounds to put away her sparring gear.*
SIMON:(In the background)Ralph and Finnegan! You’re up next!

*The scene opens with STEPHEN and ELEANOR facing the screen, a look of disappointment on their expressions. The silence is loud as the screen switches to show CHARLOTTE, looking back at the camera uncomfortably.*
ELEANOR: How did this happen? We expected better from you, Charlotte.
*CHARLOTTE shrugs uncomfortably, looking back at her parents.*
STEPHEN: I don’t know what’s been getting into you lately. In the garden after your curfew? An attempted escape? We aren’t mad, we just want to know why.
CHARLOTTE: Um. I-I don’t know…
*An uncomfortable silence is shared between the family as ELEANOR and STEPHEN look back at their daughter.*
CHARLOTTE: I just wanted to know what was out there, I guess…
STEPHEN: (Sighing, turning away) We knew this would happen eventually.
ELEANOR: (Placing her hand on her husband's back, comforting him)I know. Charlotte… we’ve told you this many times!(Turning back towards her daughter)There is nothing to see out there but danger! There are bad people, Charlotte. There are bad people that want to take you away from us! To kill you! Honey, the world is not unicorns and rainbows. We’re just trying to keep you safe.
CHARLOTTE:(Looking down at her hands)I know.
ELEANOR:(Kneeling down and tracing her daughter’s face) I know you know better than this. For you to go outside is simply suicide. Don’t you remember what happened to your grandparents…
CHARLOTTE:(Looking down)Mom, you don’t have to talk about it.
ELEANOR: *Tears in her eyes* My parents died for no reason other than they were royals. I don’t want the same thing to happen to you. They already attempted to get your father and I, there’s no doubt you’re next.(Camera pans to show STEPHEN’s missing arm)
CHARLOTTE: Mom, I know… Please don’t-
ELEANOR: Your father and I barely made it out alive, honey. We’re only like this because we love you, understand?
*CHARLOTTE nods, and stands up, hand on her mothers shoulder.*
CHARLOTTE: I love you, mom. I understand.
*ELEANOR nods, and turns back toward STEPHEN. The couple leave the room, and CHARLOTTE hurries down the hallway. On her way down, JACK comes around the corner, distracted by a book, not seeing CHARLOTTE headed towards him. CHARLOTTE turns her head to see if she’s being followed, and the two crash into each other, falling on the floor.*
CHARLOTTE: Jack! What are you doing?!
JACK: It’s my free hour, I was going to the library! What are you doing?
CHARLOTTE: Well, I just got done being scolded by my parents for my attempt at sneaking out yesterday. So much for seeing the world, all I got was a lecture on how my grandparents died and all of that again.
JACK: Sounds fun.
CHARLOTTE: Oh, extremely.
JACK: How did you get caught, anyway?
CHARLOTTE: I nearly fell off the gate! Of course the guards heard my scream and came running. I tried to make up something about getting kidnapped but they didn’t buy it.
JACK: (Snickering) I’m surprised your parents didn’t punish you at all.
CHARLOTTE: Sitting through my mother crying was punishment enough, trust me. I just wanted that over with.
JACK: That sounds like torture.
*CHARLOTTE nods, rolling her eyes.*
CHARLOTTE: (Eying the book JACK is holding) What’s this week’s novel?
JACK: The art of war by Sun Tzu. It’s an ancient Chinese treatise on military that has really impressed me thus far. I think Sun really captures the essence of war in a way I never thought of! A great line is- you didn’t really want to know, did you?
CHARLOTTE: It’s sweet that you ramble on as if I care. (laughs)
JACK: (Laughing)Maybe one day I’ll find a book that would actually interest you.
CHARLOTTE: Yeah, good luck with that. I hate reading almost as much as my parents lectures.
JACK: Books are an extremely important role in a person's life! They introduce you to imagination itself, I would say. Best of all, they really teach you about the outside world.
CHARLOTTE: Is that so? I’d say I'm a visual learner in that department.
JACK: Of course, hence your regular escape attempts.
CHARLOTTE:(Laughs) Sure, you can read and hear all about it, but ultimately it doesn't compare to seeing it for yourself.
JACK: Makes sense. As one of my favorite authors, Joshua Gates, would say: “Seeing the world is a prerequisite to understanding one’s place in it.”
CHARLOTTE: Wise words. Maybe one day I’ll see enough to understand my place in it.
JACK: Maybe one day one of your “master” escape plans will actually work.
CHARLOTTE: Well if you helped me maybe they would, Mr. I Know Everything!(shoves JACK playfully)
JACK: Oh, I wouldn’t dare get in the way of your oh so powerful destiny to discover yourself!(shoves CHARLOTTE back)
CHARLOTTE: (Laughing) Sure. You just don’t want me to leave you here in this miserable prison.
JACK: Possibly.
CHARLOTTE: Don’t think I don't see right through you, Jack Bailey.
JACK: Well, you’ve been my best friend for 7 years, I would expect no less.
CHARLOTTE:(laughs)Well, my best friend of 7 years, I now must leave you to attend to this week’s escape plan.
JACK: Oh no, however will I survive? Just me and my war book to keep me company.
CHARLOTTE: How tragic! A best friend leaving a slightly lamer best friend for an escape from the castle.
JACK:(Pretends to cry) Leave me now! I will never recover from my immense despair.
CHARLOTTE:(Walking down the hallway, rolling her eyes)You’re such a nerd.
*CHARLOTTE enters her bedroom, a large room with a queen size bed in the center. She sits at an alcove, gazing out the window facing the castle gardens. She takes out a notebook hidden inside the pillow underneath. She pulls out an ink pen and labels the page: “ESCAPE: ATTEMPT #7.”

*King HARRY walks into the training ground, the knights bowing down and making a path for him as he walks over to SIMON, who bows as the king stands before him.*
HARRY: Simon! I see your knights have progressed well. I was lucky enough to catch the end of that last duel. Very entertaining. Very impressive.
SIMON: Thank you, my king. I like to think my knights have come a long way.
HARRY: Mhm. That girl, the one who won. What was her name?
SIMON: Petra, my king.
HARRY: Stand up now, can’t we talk like friends? And cut out all that “my king” stuff, I'm just like the rest of you.
SIMON: (eyeing HARRY’s jewels and fancy clothes, and his guards) Yes. Just like the rest of us. (stands)
HARRY: Yes. Now, Petra. I would like to see her.
SIMON: (Yelling) Petra! The king requests your presence.
*PETRA walks nervously over to SIMON and HARRY, bowing before the king.*
HARRY: Get up now, I’d like to see you.
*PETRA stands up, facing the king. HARRY takes a long look at her before speaking.*
HARRY: You excelled. You fought with such ease, such patience, such gracefulness. That was truly something. You’re very talented, you know that?
PETRA: Thank you… I’m honored.
HARRY: That’s king to you.
PETRA: O-Oh I’m so sorry, king-
HARRY: No no, i’m only kidding. Call me what you wish, Petra. I’m impressed with your skill. I’m honored to have you protecting this kingdom.
PETRA: Thank you, so much.
HARRY: Of course. Now, Simon! You are the one that took her in, are you not? After Alexander and Selene passed. Absolute tragedy.
SIMON: Yes, I am. I took her in after their death, taken much too soon. Wonderful people. I raised Petra as my own, along with my daughter, Lydia.
HARRY: Well clearly you did exceptionally. Lydia, you say?
SIMON: Yes, she is a highly trained mercenary. If you thought Petra was impressive, well, just wait till you see her.
*PETRA looks at the ground, annoyed*
SIMON: Oh, you can go now, Petra.
*PETRA leaves, sitting down against a rock.*
SIMON: Lydia is absolutely amazing in her fighting skills, just wait till you see her for yourself. She should be coming back from a job today, actually.
HARRY: I would love to see her.
SIMON: Trust me, you would. She is quite something.

*LYDIA walks through a crowd, analyzing everyone she sees. People move out of the way as she walks past, knowing her importance. A man is spotted hiding in a cape. He pushes through the crowd, attempting to escape her. LYDIA catches his eye as he looks back at her, picking up his pace at the eye contact. LYDIA breaks into a sprint after him as Istanbul by They Might Be Giants begins to play. LYDIA runs through the street, pushing people out of the way to reach her target. The man darts into an alleyway. LYDIA jumps up on a ladder, running across the balconies above him. She jumps down in front of him, the man quickly turning around and running the other direction. LYDIA dashes after him, getting closer as the man grows tired. Seeing her opportunity, she tosses a dagger, landing directly in front of him. The man stops abruptly, and LYDIA throws a sword, landing directly in his back. The man slumps over on the ground, blood spilling from his wound. LYDIA walks over to him, rolling him onto his back with her foot.*
LYDIA: Well, that’s the last time you’ll be stealing anything.
*LYDIA slashes the man’s hands off with her sword, and the song continues as she mounts her horse and rides off into the distance.*

*LYDIA enters the castle, followed by 2 guards. HARRY and SIMON await her at the entrance.*
LYDIA: I see I've been expected. (bows)
HARRY: Lydia! Yes, we’ve been eagerly awaiting your arrival. Simon has told me great things about you, and I would love to see you in action. I request a spar with Petra.
SIMON: With Petra?
HARRY: Yes, I'd find it most interesting.
SIMON: I suppose it would be. Are you up for it, Lydia?
LYDIA: Sorry to disappoint you both, but I've been away from home for two weeks on jobs and I’d really like to be in the comfort of my own home. But sure, I'd be willing to spar another time.
*LYDIA walks past SIMON and HARRY, walking past the camera.*
SIMON: My greatest apologies, I don’t know what’s gotten into her…
HARRY: Oh, don’t worry! It’s really no issue. I believe I have a meeting I was supposed to attend today anyhow, seems like I always do.
SIMON: Oh! Well then, I suppose you should attend that.
HARRY: I suppose. I could have them wait if I really wanted to. (Shrugs)
*HARRY walks away past the camera, leaving SIMON standing in the castle doorway. He hurriedly rushes into a hallway, the camera following him as he unlocks a door and quickly slips inside.*
*SIMON approaches a desk inside his bedroom, opening a drawer. The drawer contents are messy, but one item stands out from the rest. It’s a knife, the same one he used to kill ALEXANDER and SELENE. SIMON takes out a pad of paper and sits down at the desk, closing the drawer. He takes out an ink pen and begins to write: *Voice over reads aloud*
SIMON VOICE OVER: My dearest Clara, Today has been quite something. The king wants to see Petra and Lydia duel, can you believe that? I must be honest, I'm not quite sure who will win. They are both extremely powerful. However, we need them both as strong as they can be for what's about to come. I feel I’ve truly been able to read King Harry today. He is young. Naive. Manipulable. He could easily be controlled. If I can get the king on my side, everything changes. My plan can finally be put into action. I’m confident you’ll be most proud to see what I’ve accomplished, my dear. When this world is finally as it should be. I hope you’re doing well. All my love, Simon.

*The scene opens to the sound of metal forks clanging on plates, and a view of chicken, vegetables, and potatoes on a porcelain plate. CHARLOTTE tosses around the vegetables with her fork absently, but doesn’t eat anything.*
STEPHEN: Charlotte. Why aren’t you eating? The cook made this fine meal for us to eat as a family.
CHARLOTTE: Oh, I dunno, I guess I’m just not very hungry.(CHARLOTTE smiles, sneaking some of her food inside a bag in her lap.)
*ELEANOR looks at STEPHEN*
ELEANOR: Should we tell her?
*STEPHEN nods. CHARLOTTE looks back and forth at her parents*
ELEANOR: Charlotte, honey. Your father and I have made a decision.
*CHARLOTTE stares at her mother, saying nothing*
ELEANOR: We’ve decided it's time you marry. You’re 21 years old, a year older than the age I met your father. We have someone very respectable in mind.
CHARLOTTE: What? You can’t be serious.
ELEANOR: Prince Edward Stafford of Hillshire will be a perfect fit for you.
CHARLOTTE: (Looking at ELEANOR in shock) Marriage? I’m sure I would have found someone by now If you would let me go out of the castle, I don’t even know what this Edward looks like!
STEPHEN: This is why we made the decision for you. We know what is best for you. Edward will be a fine husband.
CHARLOTTE: And I'm assuming I’ll never know that until we’re at the altar?
ELEANOR: Why don’t you trust us, Charlotte? You never have. You’ve always been so secluded and quiet for as long as I can remember! What did we ever do to you?
CHARLOTTE: (Angrily) Oh, I don’t know! Maybe it’s because every time I try to speak up for myself, to do something for myself, you call me a rebel, and unfit to be your perfect little princess you have in your head! Maybe it’s because you barely let me look out a window, and never tell me anything about life outside of this miserable prison. You seriously can’t blame me for being the way I am. I’m honestly surprised I’ve talked this long without you butting in, I-
ELEANOR: That’s enough, Charlotte. Go to your room.
CHARLOTTE: (standing up) You do realize you’re doing exactly what I said is the reason I don’t trust you, right?
STEPHEN: Your room, Charlotte.
*CHARLOTTE stomps down the hallway in frustration. ELEANOR and STEPHEN remain at the table.*
ELEANOR: She’s ungrateful.
STEPHEN: She’s rebellious.
ELEANOR: She understands nothing about this world and thinks she knows everything.
*STEPHEN and ELEANOR bitterly resume eating their dinner.*

*Camera pans upside down to reveal the Stafford family eating dinner. JOSEPHINE and HENRY STAFFORD are seated at opposite sides of the table, while EDWARD and LUCY are across from each other. The family eats quietly.*
JOSEPHINE: Edward. Have you heard of Charlotte Windsor?
EDWARD: No, I haven’t.
JOSEPHINE: She seems like a nice girl. Very pretty. She’s from Greendale. She’s the princess.
EDWARD: Why are you telling me all of this?
HENRY: Get to the point, Josephine.
JOSEPHINE: (flustered) We want you to meet Charlotte. We think you two would be good together. We want you to get married.
EDWARD: W-What? Married? Already? But I’m only 20, I can’t get married yet, I-
HENRY: Edward, you’re plenty old enough. You’ve never had a girlfriend in your life, it’s about time you meet a nice girl.
LUCY: I don’t think he’s ever even talked to a girl besides mom and I. (laughs)
EDWARD: That’s not true!
LUCY: What girl?
EDWARD: Um… (thinking) The servants.
*LUCY laughs*
JOSEPHINE: Lucy, that’s enough. Edward, you’ll be meeting with Charlotte tomorrow at noon.
EDWARD: Great…
LUCY: I’m done with my dinner. May I be excused?
HENRY: Yes, Lucy.
*LUCY leaves the table, disappearing into a hallway.*
EDWARD: Uh, me too?
HENRY: (Sighs) I guess.
*EDWARD follows LUCY out of the dining hall. LUCY goes down some stairs, down a hallway, and out two large doors to a small garden. A fountain is in the middle. LUCY sits down at it, admiring the glistening water and vibrant flowers that surround her. A rustling is heard from behind. She looks around, getting up to see where it’s coming from. A large thump is heard as BEN falls to the ground, landing in the grass right in front of LUCY.*
LUCY: (screams) Who are you?! What are you doing here??
BEN: (groaning as he gets up)What… Oh, I’m, uh… Albert, the window cleaner?
LUCY: (suspicious) Window cleaner? Did you fall from that window? (Looking up, eyeing the window above him)
BEN: Y-yes.
LUCY: Hmm. Where are your cleaning supplies? And you’re not in uniform.
BEN: Um, it’s my day off. I forgot my wallet.
LUCY: Well, The cleaning closet is on the other side of the castle, Albert.
BEN: Yes, I know, I just, uh, like walking through the castle.
LUCY: That was a test. You clearly don’t know where the cleaning closet is, Albert the window cleaner.
BEN: Oh, um… I’m new. It’s my first day.
LUCY: I thought it was your day off.
BEN: My first… my first day off.
LUCY: Riiighttt… And how could you have forgotten your wallet if you’ve never been inside the castle?
BEN: Oh, uhmm… (hesitates) fine, you got me. I’m not Albert the window cleaner.
LUCY: (smirks) And what were you doing trying to climb into the castle?
BEN: Um… stealing.
LUCY: Guards! This man was-
*BEN covers LUCY’s mouth, desperately explaining.*
BEN: Wait, please! Please don’t turn me in! I didn’t want to steal, my parents are fugitives, and they sent me to do this. Trust me, this wasn’t my decision! (Removing his hand from LUCY’s mouth)
LUCY: Yeah, right. Great story, thief. (Getting ready to shout again.)
BEN: No, I swear on my life it’s true! Please. You have to believe me.
LUCY: (Looking back at BEN, who looks desperate and upset)Fine. But if you try anything like that again, you’re done.
*BEN nods. LUCY sits back down at the fountain. BEN goes to sit down with her.*
LUCY: What did they want you to steal, anyway?
BEN: I don’t know. They’re criminals. You people are rich. Anything worth something.
LUCY: (shrugging) I guess that makes sense.
BEN: Who are you, anyway?
LUCY: (smiling)The princess.
BEN: Really? I should consider myself lucky. I’ve run right into the princess of Hillshire.
LUCY: You should consider yourself lucky the princess of Hillshire didn’t turn you over to her guards.
BEN: That too.
LUCY: (Laughs)Well what now? Do you go home empty handed? What will your parents do?
BEN: I suppose. They’ll be angry, definitely. We’ve been running low on money. We used to live in Chesterfield, but we had to move because the authorities were on to us.
LUCY: (Looking down at the grass)Oh.
BEN: (Getting up) Well, I guess I should face them now-
LUCY: Wait!
*BEN turns around to face LUCY. LUCY hesitates*
LUCY: Come with me.

*HARRY walks through the castle hallway alone, knocking on the door to SIMON’s room*
HARRY: Simon?
*SIMON flings open the door, ushering HARRY inside excitedly.*
SIMON: Ah, Harry! You came. Have a seat, have a seat.
*SIMON pulls out his desk chair for HARRY to sit in. HARRY sits down, facing SIMON expectantly *
SIMON: Harry, my friend. There is something very important I have been meaning to discuss with you. This is an idea of mine, an idea I think is very crucial to the future of the four kingdoms.
HARRY: Well, by all means Simon, tell me.
SIMON: Long ago, our nation was united. We were together as one, and we thrived. Money and happiness were plentiful. Though, because of power hungry rulers who wanted nothing more than control, we were divided. Divided into four nations. Greendale, Chesterfield, Hillshire, and the Grimlands. While Greendale thrived with riches and peace, The Grimlands suffered, and poverty was everywhere. My king, I’m sure you’ve noticed compared to other nations we are nothing. I want to rid this poverty and suffering for good. I want the nations to be united as one once more. I call it Amalgamus. The world I will create. However, to do this, I need your help. I need you to join me, Harry. I ask, please, help me create this paradise.
HARRY: Simon, this sounds… Great, but we can’t just take over the other nations so easily. They will not comply. To create this would mean an all out war.
SIMON: I’m willing to do whatever it takes, sir.
HARRY: So you’re saying we just declare war on these nations?
SIMON: We will attack Greendale first. It is the closest nation, although the strongest. But if they don’t see it coming, we can crush it.
HARRY: Crush it?
SIMON: Tear it down. Tear all the nations down until they are nothing. Burn them to the ground, rid the people. Then, we spread our kingdom, and create Amalgamus. No demanding government, just a simple paradise for all.
HARRY: Simon, I don’t know about this…
SIMON: Think, Harry. Surely, my king, you are not this dense. Paradise, or what we have now? It’s a simple question with a simple answer.
HARRY: I… Well, of course paradise but-
SIMON: See? That was simple. Now, what I need from you is to initiate the first step. We need to ambush Greendale as soon as we can.
HARRY: (Nods, looking back up at SIMON) As soon as we can. For the paradise.
*The camera pans to the hallway, where PETRA is leaned against the door, listening in on the conversation. As HARRY finishes his sentence she turns around, horrified. PETRA runs back to her room, slamming the door and leaning against it.*
PETRA: I must warn the other nations.
*PETRA grabs a backpack from her wall, and packs assorted items lying around. She slides her sword in her sheath and as she throws a rope down her window, Run Boy Run by Woodkid starts to play. PETRA climbs down the rope along the wall of the castle, and faces beyond the castle before she makes a dash for the woods. It’s dark outside, and PETRA running fades into a shot of LYDIA peering out her window, noticing PETRA.*
LYDIA: (squinting) Petra?
*LYDIA hurries out of her room, rushing down the castle stairs outside. She takes off after PETRA as the song continues, calling out. PETRA hears, but does not stop. LYDIA comes to a halt when PETRA doesn’t slow down, and returns to the castle, confused.*

*The scene opens to CHARLOTTE’s bedroom window, a rope being flung out of it. CHARLOTTE comes into view of the window as she ties the rope to a knob. She tugs on the rope to secure it, and begins climbing down. She reaches a tree about halfway down, and leaps onto it. From there, she jumps down, looking around in the hollow of the tree. From it, she takes out a flashlight and a bag, making her way across the garden. A tall stone wall is in her path. She takes out a rope ladder from the bag. She throws the ladder up, catching it on one of the ledges towards the top of the wall and begins to climb up.*
GREENDALE GUARD 1: So, I mean, yeah. I basically single-handedly defeated him- HEY! Is that Princess Charlotte?
*5 guards come rushing toward CHARLOTTE, and she speeds up as they get closer. She soon reaches the top, in shock that she has made it. The guards are still a distance away. She quickly flips the ladder to the other side and hurriedly climbs down. When the guards reach the wall she is already safely on the other side, and takes the ladder down as they call for backup. CHARLOTTE runs into the distance, attempting to lose the guards. Once they’re out of sight, she stops to catch her breath near a wall of bushes, just as PETRA crawls out of them. She stands up, and the two look at each other in awe.*
