The CAMERA SCANS a blank white hospital room. DRIPS from the faucet and a SLOW BEEPING from the heart monitor echo throughout the room. The CAMERA PAUSES on SOPHIE, who lies in bed, bandages wrapped around her head, sporting an oxygen massed, and puffed up, bruised, and scarred throughout.
CLOSE UP - BLACK ROSES
Sit atop a table, a bright red ribbon wrapping around the stems. Connected to the ribbon is a note.

Written in sloppy, though legible writing: "Get well soon, love. The World is with you."
CUT TO:
INT. HOSPITAL HALLWAY - AFTERNOON
Jerry, a middle-aged, graying man, sits on a bench, hands clasped in front of his lips and foot tapping in anxiety. He straightens slightly as nurses come into view, but they pass by him. He sighs, runs his hands through his hair, and looks up as doctor FREDRICK walks up to him, Styrofoam cup of coffee in hand.

Fredrick takes a sip of coffee. Closing his eyes, Jerry runs his hands through his hair, sniffing. A long silence follows, HEELS CLICKING against the hard floors dominating the time. Fredrick looks down at the exhausted man while Jerry intentionally avoids his gaze.
Fredrick takes a final drink and crushes his cup, throwing it towards a trash bin. He misses and makes no move to pick it up. Jerry fiddles with his fingers, glancing around wildly before shutting his eyes tightly. Suddenly, he bursts into tears, sobbing quietly and pinching the bridge of his nose. Fredrick quickly sits beside him and wraps an arm around his shoulders.
