The night was cold and dark, the wind blowing harshly as the seasons prepared to transition into Winter.

Talyn Harper waited on the rooftop, eyes narrowed in suspicion. She watched the female figure go down the street, a cloak flowing behind her gently.

Talyn stood crouched on the rooftop, in the ruins of the old the city, where the woman kept walking on idly by. Her heels clicked on the street loudly, echoing with each step she took.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA1RD5a2ZUAp
"I see her," Talyn whispered into her earpiece, her brown jacket flapping and snapping in the wind.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAGzEaFHwoXr
"Good," Iris said in the earpiece. "Shes in the old city then?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAXMBpchHaXh
"Yeah," Talyn whispered." She's going into a house," she added, as the woman broke off a doorknob with the slash of a blade, gleaming in the moonlight. The woman glanced around, eyes narrowed.
697Please respect copyright.PENANABDMYXn6lhg
"Go after her. Clint and Will are ready to go."
697Please respect copyright.PENANAEi2hf5E5x8
"Mkay. " She took her bow in her hands and leapt off the roof with such agility, landing with her knees bent before straightening up, as the woman's tail from her coats vanished into the house.
"I wish you were here."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA0Ea8DHZ0Rt
"Me too." Iris sighed heavily. "But Diana's out on another hunt, and someone's gotta make sure everything's well and research. I can't wait till Melanie comes back home."
697Please respect copyright.PENANAhVaZ52WgQx
Talyn paused for a moment. "Why can't Will do it?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAtgRna9Vb1c
"Are you kidding? He'd talk your ear off." Iris gave a short laugh. Talyn smiled a little, despite her nerves bouncing around in her stomach. She hated the feeling, and usually Iris was with her, so now she was more nervous than ever.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAOHIiWgGdus
"You're not wrong." Talyn frowned, huffing. "Well, im going in, so, I'll talk to you later, Iris."
697Please respect copyright.PENANAtydB72RZNx
"Good luck, and be careful."
There was a beep, meaning that the connection had been broken. Talyn looked back up at the tiny house.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAYwDSqNJtNW
Talyn went after the woman, an arrow now in place, ready to fire. She could hear the woman's heels in the hallway, and the wind blew the door shut with a slam, making Talyn flinch as she slipped inside.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAH5fd8x4mYM
The place was small, but clean, with no lights on at all. Talyn squinted through the dark.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAcQRZjhyuPH
The woman crept to one of the bedrooms, going through the nice, clean, kitchen, to one of the bedrooms.
Talyn stayed crouched by the table, watching the woman turn the knob and peek inside. She saw the woman smile, a smile that sent shivers down Talyn's spine. Dropping her cloak behind her, revealing black armor, and large, sharp blades connected to the arm pieces, the woman's grin widened. She was about to step in. "Oh.. This will be a treat," she hissed under her breath, barely audible.

And then Talyn's arrow hit her arm. The woman froze, didn't even flinch, looking at the arrow.
"You didn't think I'd notice you sneaking in?" Her face slipped into anger. She ripped the arrow out, turning towards Talyn, who straightened up and smiled nervously.
"Oops..Hi?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANACUgMa2PdwM
The woman snarled, flashing her white teeth at Talyn, and lunging at her. Talyn dove to the side, rolling back onto her feet and loading another arrow. The woman slammed into one of the cabinets, glass plates shattering like rain onto the floor. The woman shook her head, her eyes glowing yellow as she stood up, looking pissed.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAjGP5NiLQsO
"Uh-oh," Talyn said. a small girl had stepped out of the room the woman had peeked inside of, eyes wide, and her mom had stepped out of her own room as well, looking just as confused and frightened. "What the hell?" The mom whispered, staring.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAFbIlhrhZwa
"HEY MAYBE WE CAN WORK THIS OUT LIKE CIVIL PEOPLE?!" Talyn shrieked.
She shot the arrow at the woman, missing barely as the arrow whizzed past the woman's ear as she moved her head. Then she noticed the mom and her little girl.

The woman then focused on the girl and her mom, smirking slightly, before lunging back at them. Talyn stepped in front of them quickly as the mom yanked the girl back out of the way into the bedroom.

"Lock the door!" Talyn shouted at them, the door slamming shut and locking with a click as the woman slammed into her and the two tumbled into the hall way, knocking off a picture. The woman hissed at her.

She raised one arm, and brought the blade down. Talyn moved her head out of the way, the blade striking right beside her ear.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAPcTVrodQma
"Tch." The woman brought her other arm, slashing, as Talyn blocked with her bow, her arms shaking as she struggled to keep the blade away from her throat.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAbPtJljNKp2
The woman sniffed, still grinning like she was insane. "A child's soul," she said. "How sweet.."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA3jwwt2uWxb
Talyn grit her teeth, wiggling a little, positioning her feet under the womans belly and launching her off. She shrieked, skidding on all fours, the blades digging into the wooden floor. She growled, eyes glowing a brighter yellow, almost orange.

Talyn was back on her feet, shooting another arrow, which struck the woman's thigh but didn't slow her down.
The woman slashed and kicked at Talyn quickly, looking furious.
Talyn was dodging, and blocking the best she could, eyes wide.
The woman then lashed out, sweeping one leg under Talyn's.

She fell, hard, onto her shoulder. The woman shrieked with laughter as if it was the funniest thing she had ever seen. She went in to stab Talyn- Talyn wouldn't have enough time to move-

And then the door slammed open and a boy ran in, two, short curved blades in each hand, grinning wildly.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA4Op3X0YYGg
"HAH!" He shouted. "GOTCHA!" he tackled the woman head-on sideways, and the blade barely grazed Talyn's chest.
Talyn moved out of the way, back in her feet in an instant.

The woman screamed at the top of her lungs, kicking and twisting. And then she elbowed him where the sun don't shine. "Filthy little-" She muttered angrily.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAAHDznFssA4
The grin vanished from his face and his eyes watered as she shoved him off, launching him into Talyn. The two slamming into a small table and knocking over a glass vase. Will landed on top of Talyn, clutching between his legs, gasping. Talyn rolled her eyes.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAepEZSxJofu
Talyn shoved Will off, wheezing, as the woman started towards them again. "Nice tr-..."- a silver blade stabbed through her stomach.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAQWtHHdfFFY
She stopped, looking down at the blade. Clint stood behind her, his sword through the woman's stomach. No one had seen or heard him come in in all the commotion.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAWgT678I92k
"Oh, dear," She muttered softly, looking at the red liquid stained on the blade. "What a surprise.. hmm.." She walked right out of the sword, turning to Clint. Her eyes had faded back into a silver color, no longer glowing.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAVKDCnSgRbR
Clint's eyes narrowed. "You're done." His voice was deep, but quiet. It was scary, and he didn't look too happy.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA0D4jukY4y9
"I'll be back for you," the woman whispered. "For your souls." She gave one last laugh, and then she vanished into thin air.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAK25i2Bn94H
Talyn stared, breathing heavily, helping Will up. "Thanks," She said to them.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAyStfWNW5Xv
"No problem," Clint said. "You guys okay?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANA93HC7rVkbE
"Never better," Will said, taking a deep breath. "Jeez.."
697Please respect copyright.PENANAL2WXHvUL34
"What the hell was that?!" the mom stepped out, with her little girl clinging to her arm, looking terrified. "WHo are you?!"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAMu2LSnSPvo
"We don't exactly know miss," Clint said. "But she's a monster, and we deal with the monsters. And this is our team. Talyn, Will, and me, Clint. There's also Iris." He didn't show any emotion.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAAq5jkYRkkG
The mother just stared. But then she sighed. "I don't know why we moved here.. Always heard it was dangerous," she muttered quietly. "T-Thank you.." The little girl clutched to her shirt and refused to look at them.
697Please respect copyright.PENANANTlYEmewtt
"Sorry about the mess ma'am." Talyn frowned, looking at the deep gouge marks, the arrow in the wall, the blood and the shattered glass in the kitchen. "We'll help you pick up."

"Ahhhhhh, home sweet home," Will said as he walked through the door, immediately shrugging off his hoodie and hanging it on the coat rack.
697Please respect copyright.PENANArO2Id8IlNq
"Lets see what monstrosity Iris came up with for dinner," he whispered to Talyn and Clint.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA5V5MFBtw8R
"Hey," Talyn said, poking his stomach, which was exposed due to the croptop he wore underneath his hoodie. "Shes not that bad of a cook-" Her nose wrinkled as a putrid smell blew into her face.
She looked at Clint, who tried not to show a reaction as Iris came in, holding a pot of soup that was emitting the horrible smell.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA5yujtZYfjG
"Hey guys!" Iris said, grinning. "Dinner's ready, come sit down." She disappeared into the dining room once again.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAlylopxAzy1
Clint sighed. "Tastebuds..I am so sorry," he said, following Talyn and Will into the dining room.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAm4HmgFD9Ot
They sat down around the small table, two seats empty.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAAry0mDRcj5
Iris served them soup. "I know its not as good as Will's but.." She sat down, taking a spoonful. Her face twisted, and she slowly spit into the bowl again. "Mmm.. Nevermind. I'm never cooking again. Sorry guys."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA6ePTYHqCkR
Clint and Talyn both let out sighs of relief, in which Will kicked them both from under the table. Talyn and Clint winced and shot him a glare.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAJhbZYVccfv
Will smiled softly at Iris. "Its okay, Iris. Look- I'll just call Diana to pick us up a pizza." He stood up, walking off, as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
697Please respect copyright.PENANANmqPd0Lsm8
Clint and Talyn stood up, taking the bowls and pouring them down the sink, as Iris put away the silverware.

Diana bustled in soon later, her sword in her side and two boxes of pizza balanced on one hand.
697Please respect copyright.PENANABfSdswcOcj
"Diana!" Talyn cried, grinning.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAbuGCQzlKIO
"Food!" Will shrieked, taking the boxes from her hand and dashing into the table.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAEoA07KhTWl
"Not even a hello," Diana snickered watching Will before hugging Talyn. "How was it? Did you get her?" She asked, looking at Talyn, putting her coat on the rack.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAhHMjtJlZiY
Talyn hesitated. "Not exactly.. I'll tell you when we eat."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA3fA9A7wIOh
Diana sighed a little. "Aw, mkay. "
697Please respect copyright.PENANAQE4gYWNh7a
Iris appeared a minute later, hair in a towel hat. She hugged Diana. "Hey."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA7n8JjhIhAb
"I heard you and the kitchen are not made for each other?" Diana teased, smiling as they walked to go eat. Iris shrugged and Diana turned to the living room. "CLINT! ITS TIME FOR DINNER!" she shouted.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAKNActrtCfn
Clint was heard screaming back from the living room in which he played video games, currently in a boss fight. "IM GOING! WELCOME HOME DIANA!"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAxXqhb5QO1E
"THANK YOU!"
697Please respect copyright.PENANA7D93auAJxz
Iris rolled her eyes, snickering, as Talyn set down the paper plates, and Will got the caprisuns.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAB68kA2xl9q
They sat down as Clint came into the room, sulking. "I was so close.."
697Please respect copyright.PENANA2ekTl5kuUn
"Lemme help you," Talyn offered.
697Please respect copyright.PENANALw3PMH7IkV
"No. I refuse to let you help me," Clint said stubbornly, eyes narrowing.
697Please respect copyright.PENANApHNrlomtNN
"Suit yourself," Talyn shrugged, taking a big bite of pizza.
697Please respect copyright.PENANAsBcu6iPPKM
Diana raised an eyebrow. "How was your hunt then, Talyn?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAgkyqDDJEvv
"Uh- We didn't get her. Clint saved mine and Will's asses though. He stabbed her and she disappeared. She said she'd be back for our souls or something," Talyn hastily told her, shrugging.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA1lkxEDXL1i
Diana raised an eyebrow. "Hmm.. Souls?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANArQ3WakFp2s
"I'm doing more research tonight don't worry. But we really could've used Iris out there," Will said, and he took a swig of his juice. "When will Melanie be back from her parents?"
697Please respect copyright.PENANAWFAxdZeSUr
"Tomorrow," Diana said, smiling. "Then Talyn won't have to do ALL the research."
697Please respect copyright.PENANACbOo1DgP79
Iris grinned, taking another slice of pizza. "Thank god. Talking into an earpiece gets boring, honestly."
697Please respect copyright.PENANAaL7alBerni
Diana shrugged. "She loves it for whatever reason. "
697Please respect copyright.PENANA62mO2VB3FU
They spent the rest of dinner talking. Then Will and Clint were arguing back in forth about who should get the last slice of pizza, the one who saved the other from being cut into tiny pieces by a soul-eating woman, or the one who was the prettiest and hungriest. While they were distracted, Talyn took the last slice and ate it, both of which didnt notice until Diana collected the empty boxes and made to throw them away.
697Please respect copyright.PENANA3WEWmUBfXF
They refused to talk to Talyn for the rest of the night.
