The Essence of Fear Pt 1.
Chapter 1
The city of Arimore is supposed to be your normal everyday city but my friends and I know it is nothing short of a war zone. Hi, I’m Alya, and my story starts about three years ago. We moved after my parents got a divorce, all because my dad caught with another woman, or so I was told. We then moved here. After a couple of days, we had finally finished unpacking everything we brought with us and finally had this new place feel like home. It was then, just as I was hanging a poster near my window when I noticed two boys, staring at me while riding their bikes. One of them wore glasses, carried a satchel, and had a blue and white flannel shirt on with light brown shorts on and brown work boots to complete his outfit. The other sported a white and red T-shirt over faded jeans and wrapped it all up with a digital watch.
As I looked on from my window, my mother, without hesitation, told me to go and play with them in hopes of gaining a few friends. Quite frankly, after everything that had happened leading up to us moving, I thought it would be a great idea to play with some new kids, even though deep down I knew that I was the new kid in their eyes. But, I’m not worried about that. Maybe they could show me around town. Maybe this is just the thing I need to distract myself from what went on with my parents.
Anxiously, I opened the garage and grabbed my bike. Could this garage door be any slower opening? Finally the garage door motor stops. I get the first real glimpse of my new street. By the time I coasted down the driveway, the two boys were waiting for me at the curb. We all introduced ourselves. Both boys instantly seemed easy to get along with. After a few minutes of back story and conversation, we decided to pedal out and tour the surrounding area. While riding to the outskirts of town we wound up near a forest that stretched as far as the eye could see. We hopped off our bikes and pushed them alongside us until we came across what seemed to be a place very secretive these guys knew very well about. I couldn’t believe it, these kids had their own hideout. We set our bikes down and went inside. This place was awesome, I only wish I had something like this back home when things started getting bad at our old house. Anyways, we took turns telling stories and jokes, my side had never hurt so much from laughing so hard. All of ours did. I was still cracking up at something they said when I noticed that I was the only one still laughing. I gathered myself just as the hideout became silent. Both of them just stared at me with serious faces. They then looked at each other before I knew it, their eyes were once again fixed on me.
Ben, the boy with glasses and the satchel broke the silence and said in a serious tone, “Can you keep a secret?” I said in response, “Sure!” what’s the secret?” Almost at the exact same time, both boys said, “We found a spaceship?” Me, not being too sure if they were just pulling my leg replied,” Like… aliens and all that junk ?” They both looked at me and nodded. “ You want to see? Then follow me” said Erik almost demandingly. We all rushed to our feet, left our bikes behind, and started walking. We walked for about half an hour before we arrived at what looked like a mountain formed of metal. I thought it kind of weird that a mountain would have strange markings on it, like something you would see in a creepy sci-fi movie. Erik, as if he had done this a million times before, placed his hand against what looked like a handprint. A glowing stream of purple light spread down his palm and lit up the rest of the metal on the ship. A door slowly opens getting caught on more metal each second causing it to frequently squeak. The two boys walk into the ships as if it were their own personal abode. I follow behind them, I slowly step inside the giant vessel.”Woah” I exclaimed in amazement.”Shouldn’t we tell the cops?” I asked concerningly “We’ve tried, but they think we’re just making everything up,” replied Ben. We ventured throughout the ship admiring the technology.”We found this ship four years ago, there has been no sign of life” said Ben.”Only this purple goo”.We walk up a piece of rotting metal that contains a console with multi-colored buttons. I touch every button, I gaze upon one green button that was hidden on the side of the panel, I press it. The lights of the ship suddenly light up. Both of the boys look up in amazement.”We’ve never been able to turn on the lights of the vessel, how did you do that?”.”I just pressed this mysterious looking green button on the console”.”We’ve pressed every button on this console, how did you find that button?”I don't know, guess I was just lucky”. They both looked at me in amazement. A tube in front of the console starts to make sounds. The iced tube in front of the console starts to defrost. The glass rolls down. A lifeform consumed by fog wraps its clawed fingers around the outer layer of the tube. A head slowly emerges from the fog, the room goes silent. An Armored black metallic skinned entity comes from the tube with a thin layer of ice surrounding it. We run outside and hide around the door and slowly peek into the room.” How could this happen, we’ve checked this whole place out?”, whispers Ben in confusion. The monster stumbles out of the containment tube breathing heavily.”I have something I need to tell you.” says Ben” I forgot to check inside a small box marked hunter, I didn’t think it was important, I thought it was someone else that was named hunter that had been here before us. So I chucked it in the tube and closed it to hold onto it.” Why didn’t you tell me?!” says Ben” I didn’t think you would be interested, I thought it was just an empty box; I didn’t feel as heavy as if there was something in it.” The alien looks around the ship than sees us looking in through the door. The alien makes sounds that are unfamiliar to the boys and I. It makes hand gestures as if it were telling us to come in. I slowly step in and tell the boys to follamazed. The alien makes clicking noises as we step closer and closer. He walks over to the console and touches three keys. The computer runs the code he types in and up pops a hologram of a woman in bright purple lighting.”Please say language for translation,'' says the computer woman.”Uhh, English?” I say in confusion. A loading bar comes across the screen on the console, it slowly reaches 100%. The monster looks at me and says “ This is the language you humans speak, am I correct?” the alien says in a tone that sounds like an 80’s song tone. My jaw drops, and I am amazed at how he has just learned to speak our language in just a few seconds. “How did you do that?” says Ben in shock.”Interdimensional translator” the alien replies.”My name is Hyperion, I’m a transdimensional bounty hunter. I came here 6 years ago because they had caught one of the other bounty hunters from my planet before my ship was shot down by a U.S. military base 20 miles from here.”Well then, we better get going if we want to make it there by tomorrow.”How are we going to get there, we can’t just ride there with our bikes, we’d be worn out.”I’ve got just the thing, follow me”, said Hyperion.We go into the ship, he puts his hand on a panel like the one on the front door of the ship,” The door opens. “This is the weapons vault, it holds all of my weapons I have used since I started bounty hunting.” he says. He picks up a satchel lying on the box next to the door. He walks to a crate that looked like a giant toolbox, like the ones from an auto body shop.He reads the marked labels leading down to a drawer that is labeled “Jet-X1”.He opens it, and there are six miniaturized jets lying there. He places one by one by one into his satchel.He then opens the next drawer up revealing a sword covered in a sheath, he picks up the sheathed sword and pulls off the sheath to reveal a long white blade surrounded by green mystical energy.He then puts the blade back in the sheath and straps it onto his back.He opens the drawer right above the one that held the sword. There are two karambit blue energy-charged blades, Hyperion picks up the daggers and puts them in their holsters. Besides the area where the karambit’s were, there are dark blue prism shurikens; he puts them on his belt buckle.Finally, he reaches the biggest drawer at the bottom of the container.He gets down on his knees and prays, after a few short seconds he looks up and opens the drawer to pull out a large black blue and green plasma gun with gold bits on some parts and a dark purple pistol lying beside it. He puts a strap on the plasma gun and puts it over his head. He then puts the pistol into his holster on his thigh.”Let’s go” he says as though he wasn’t taking a lot of time gathering all those weapons.We then all walk out of the ship grab our bikes and walk them to the street. Hyperion puts 2 Jet-X1’s on the back wheels of our bikes.Hyperion then hops on the back of my bike and we petal for a few seconds then he presses a button on his hist remote control on his wrist gauntlet and the boosters suddenly kick in. We go so fast it makes my eyes water.We get there within 5 minutes of leaving the ship.The Military base has three building two small domes and one giant dome filled with scientists and a glowing glowing orb.We slowly go down the hill to the access door in one of the small domes.Hyperion slices the door with his green energy sword. I pull the door open and we go inside.As we sneak across the lab I come across a room marked test experiments.”Hey guys,'' I whisper,” I think I found something ``.I slowly opened the door to reveal 3 test tubes, each with a different type of alien.”Woah, how did they get all of these alien civilians?” I asked in aww.”Not civilians… BOUNTIES.
Chapter 2
“Wait what do you mean bounty, like the targets of bounty hunters?” I asked in confusion” Precisely, but these bounties were collected” said Hyperion. I walk over to the test tubes and put my hand out to touch it. As my hand is about to touch the glass three guards bust in through the door and windows.”Halt, you are in violation of penal code G-327 Unauthorized entry of a Military compound, put your hands up now!”The boys and I put our hands in the air and huddle together on the floor as they warn us. Hyperion looks at the guards rather intimidatingly, slowly reaching for his pistol he unlatches the lock of his pistol case.”Final warning, stand down or we will be forced to open fire” says the guard rather angrily,” You first soldier” Hyperion replies. The room goes silent, I close my eyes and hear gunshot and lasers firing. After a few minutes the room goes quiet and all I hear is heavy breathing. I think to myself” Who won, did Hyperion get defeated or did he defeat the guards?” Then a familiar voice says “let’s go we have to find our bounty hunter friend”.I slowly open my eyes and to my surprise it was Hyperion.”Guy, it’s okay”, I said to the boys,” You can open your eyes now”.The boys open their eyes and say “Woah, are you ok? How did you do that? Are they… DEAD?”I only knocked them out” said Hyperion. A wave of relief comes over the boys and me. We all get up and go tie the guards to one of the support beams. We leave the room and venture through the halls to end up at the largest of the three domes. We end up at an I.D. authentification door. Hyperion slowly pulls a third of his sword out does a quick slash at the door and slowly puts his sword back in the sheath and slams it closed. The door then falls and slams to the floor with a loud bang. We walk through the cut-down door and appear to be standing in front of what looks to be a giant containment cell with a thin layer of ice surrounding it. I walk to one of the consoles closest to the cell and read the writing on the clipboard.It reads “Subject 2568983”.What is this I asked curiously and horrified.”There….(he stutters) bounty hunters.”Why do they have, how did they.Questions float in my mind one after another.”All of your questions will be answered soon”, says Hyperion with shakiness in his voice.I see buttons on the console, i think of pressing it .Red lights blare around us, a loud speaker exclaims “EMERGENY EMERGENCY CONTAINMENT FIELD BREACHED”.I quickly pull my hand away from the console.”What did you do”exclaimed Ben and Eric.” I didnt do anything”, as the room slowly started filling with guards.”I knew you’d come for them”, says a dark shadow from outside the door Hyperion cut with his energy sword.”The strange figure walk through the cut door,”Why Hyperion, I thought you would’ve told your little friends about me.””Hyperions face goes into a state of shock.”Hyperion what is it?” I ask. Hyperion replies “He...He’s t-...the one who made us crash….”
