Denali walked by his side and they both started into the night silently. As they walked, neither of them said a word, but ever so often one would steal a quick glance at the other. Denali would look up at Suba out of curiosity, wondering about who he was and where he came from. Suba would the look down at Denali, with a light smile of bemusement. He didn't know what, but there was something about her that really spiked his interests. Something both blunt and haunting, but he wasn't sure what it was.334Please respect copyright.PENANAW6oQASdqGm
They soon arrived at her small but pleasant apartment.334Please respect copyright.PENANApFRFx26Oqd
Denali paused a few feet from the steps of her apartment before turning to Suba.334Please respect copyright.PENANAJYCAIpC02K
"Alright, well thank you for saving me today. Have a good night." Although she didn't like thanking him, she knew it was the right thing to do. Suba smiled at her, almost nostalgically.334Please respect copyright.PENANABEZRh7jcbT
"We will be seeing a lot of each other." Denali rolled her eyes.334Please respect copyright.PENANA4tEHwQfuOQ
"Yippy" she said sarcastically.334Please respect copyright.PENANADmg1hwhRh7
" Well have a good night, don't let the monsters get you." She rolled her eyes again.334Please respect copyright.PENANAdcIRtfRcI7
"Hilarious."334Please respect copyright.PENANAvEDIFdIxu8
He gave her one more wide prideful smile before turning and walking into the darkness, seemingly vanishing at a point. Denali turned, and went up the stairs of her humble apartment. Once inside she had to go up three flights of stairs to get to her studio. It was a bit empty, simple, but that was how Denali liked it. She wasn’t really into having a bunch of stuff. That and being a young adult living in a city was next to impossible when it came to expenses.
After changing, Denali when to bed for the night. With her bed beside the one and only, large window in her apartment, she could stair up into the sky as she slept, while being hushed to sleep by the wind. While most people felt fearful of the night, as if it were the predator and they were the prey, Denali never felt this way. The night always gave her peace. It was quiet, still, everything right and good would rest, leaving time to rejuvenate, time to heal, and time to think. Instead of an unsuspecting monster, To Denali, night felt like a thoughtful mother. She was soft, kind, but firm. She spoke to all, and although not all would listen, she would still be there, time and time again.
Although the choice she had made that night, plagued her mind as she tried to sleep, eventually, the cool night air lawed her to sleep.334Please respect copyright.PENANArjKk10wgKP
Usually, Denali would sleep in, after working a late night, but something disturbed her early in the morning. As she slept, something begun to bother her, something uncomfortable. Stirring, Denali’s eyes slowly begun to open, unable to sleep any longer with that itchy feeling in the back of her head. Something loomed over her, but with sun coming in from behind it, it was impossible to make out the features of this object. Denali blinked, her eyes adjusting to the light to see what it was that had woken her up. In a few moments, the image soon became clear, revealing Suba, sitting on her windowsill, her window open, and with that usually prideful smile on his face.334Please respect copyright.PENANAZQJSqOIzSe
Denali blinked, not trusting her mind when she saw such a thing. But no, he was still there no matter how long she stared at him.334Please respect copyright.PENANAVJjOAmAAJM
Suba stood to his feet, almost immediately after she had looked at him and moved to the side of her bed hastily.334Please respect copyright.PENANABufV8hTPn4
“ Well? Do you sense something?” Denali simply couldn’t believe it.334Please respect copyright.PENANATpPEUx6FUK
“ W-what?” She gonked.334Please respect copyright.PENANATaCo37ZcLD
“ No! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM!?” She demanded sitting up so fast, she made herself dizzy. Suba shrugged, clearly unphased by her.334Please respect copyright.PENANAAM5NYfaXwU
“ I came to see if you have sensed anything yet.” Denali blinked at him, her mouth slightly open in shock.
“ No, I haven’t. How in the bloody hell did you get in here? I know I locked the door.” She muttered, starting to calm down as she leaned forward, and placed her head in her cupped hand.334Please respect copyright.PENANAzNVa5MYigk
“ Doors…” He muttered to himself, with a soft laugh, as if there was something funny about that concept.334Please respect copyright.PENANAnKmZl8GQ91
“ I came in through the window of course.” Denali looked up at him, and stared in disbelief.334Please respect copyright.PENANAldL0xJzEb9
“ The…WINDOW?” She repeated. Suba folded his arms, almost seeming annoyed with having to repeat himself.334Please respect copyright.PENANAaxY3cKl5vL
“ Yes...the window. Now are you SURE you haven’t sensed anything?” Denali let out an angry sigh, falling back into bed and turning away from Suba.334Please respect copyright.PENANA84XcZisfH0
“ I’m SURE. You will know when I sense something. Now go away so I can go back to sleep.” Suba huffed, but couldn’t reject her command. He might have been a monster himself, but he still had honor, and would not stay in a womans home if told to leave. Suba, folded his arms, and returned out the window from where he came, leaving just as silently as he came.
