Pulling into the garage, one of the squadron's cruisers came to a halt, hovering just a few feet off the asphalt before touching down gently. The top of the vehicle then unlatched itself prior to peeling back to let out a certain task force officer. Stepping out, Evren brushed aside the pale strands of hair that managed to fall in his face before crossing the lot. Hearing the hurried footsteps coming up behind him, the man tossed the keys in that direction without sparing the lower ranking officer a single glance. And as his hair fell in his face once more, mismatched eyes noted the drying blood that was giving his hair a slight pinkish tint.
"Hey, Princess."
Sliding his hand down to the butt of his gun, Evren pulled it from its holster, turning quickly to his left. Seeing the barrel of another firearm pointed at him, the man merely lowered his after a few moments of observation.
"I told you not to call me that," he said, putting the weapon away as he preceded forward.
"You're late and slow on the draw," the raven stated as he put his gun away/
"Yes for a physical I don't need," he said, ignoring the other's last comment.
"It's not by choice."
Looking back at the man flanking him, Evren simply sighed in quiet frustration before feeling finger warm fingers brush against his cooler skin. Swatting the offending digits away, he eyed the narrowed red eyes glaring back at him before the black and gold-haired man lowered his hand back down to his holstered weapon.
"You didn't have to hit me," Tyson stated as he slid his hand up and into his pocket. "You have blood on your face. Did you kill someone?" He then looked over the man to see just the small smear of blood on the front of his uniform. "No, you're too clean for that."
"What are you implying?"
A smirk pulled at sharp features. "You don't have it in you to kill someone."
Withdrawing the firearm once more, Evren pointed it in the man's direction before lowering it since the man was nowhere to his left. Catching the lightest sound of footsteps behind him, he turned to see no one there either. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath before turning around, cocking his weapon. When he opened his eyes again, he stared at the gleam in the garnet-colored eyes before lowering the barrel to be at level with the other man's mouth.
"I could kill you now if I wanted," he said, pulling the hammer back.
The other merely opened his mouth and placed it on the cool metal. Watching the other's expression, he poked his tongue out and ran it over the barrel of the firearm. From there, his smirk broadened as he watched the shorter man pull his weapon away, mild disgust flashing in his blank, mismatched eyes; only those who knew what to look for could spot it.
"You're so gross."
"Princess, you haven't seen gross," Tyson stated with a chuckle.
Leaning in as the male continued to walk towards the doors, he edged close enough to run the tip of his tongue along the dried, reddish-brown smear marring the porcelain skin. He then took a quick step back to avoid a punch to the face, swiping his thumb along his bottom lip before licking it.
"Tyson."
"Princess?"
Catching what could've possibly been a faint blush creep along the paler man's face, the raven let loose an amused laugh. His voice then caught in his throat as one of Evren's fists connected with his stomach.
Stepping back, dark eyes met up with the mismatched ones, spotting the smallest sliver of satisfaction and amusement before the task officer turned away, leaving Tyson to stand alone in the garage.
Rubbing his stomach, the taller male chuckled to himself since he guessed that was the closest thing to a smile that he'd ever get from the other. "Damn bastard."
"Renyx!"
Tossing her bag aside as the door swung shut behind her, Will made her way across her workshop, hardly stopping as SHU hopped down from its screen perch to land on her shoulder. Pushing aside other cables, screens, and every other thing in her way, she then came to the center of the warehouse where they kept the couches, television, and other things of entertainment.
"How is he?"
"Well, he's heavy for a start. Didn't think his scrawny ass could be-"
"Renyx!"
"He hasn't woken up yet," he replied, "and I'm surprised your yelling hasn't helped either."
Glaring daggers at the redhead, Will fought back the tempting urge to whack him upside the head before she stepped around the couch to observe the teenager that was out cold. Kneeling down in front of him, the woman tilted Cal's head back carefully to take a look at his neck.
"I already wrapped it…" Renyx stated before rubbing the back of his neck as he watched his friend undo his work, "…though I guess it was still messy."
"No, it was fine. You did well at stopping the bleeding," she said as she took a look at the thin cuts littering his throat. "Look in my desk, third drawer on the left and bring me the first aid kit."
Getting onto his feet, the man did as told, but not before sparing his other friend a glance. Reaching said desk, the redhead reached into the drawer, pulling out a white box marked with a large red cross. As he went to close the compartment, however, he noticed the concealed firearm poking out from beneath a few files. Looking back at the woman tending to the other, Renyx closed it carefully before making his way back over to the pair.
"Thanks," Will said as she was handed the container. "Um, maybe you should call, Mr. Lefay."
"What, why?"
"Tell him-"
"That Calix was attacked by a psychotic task officer and that he's now laying out code in a warehouse somewhere in the old Polaris? Yeah, I don't think so, lady. You can tell him."
"Stop being stupid," she hissed as she went through the kit, pulling out a bottle of antiseptic then gauze. "You seriously have to learn when to shut up and let me finish." Brown eyes shifted to look at the yellowish-brown ones before focusing back on the supplies. "I was going to say, call Mr. Lefay so you can at least say Calix is going to stay at your place."
"We're both grown men," he said quickly. "We're not having a sleepover!"
The woman pinched the bridge of her nose. "You have til the count of three. One." SHU, the little bot perched on her shoulder, hopped off and scurried onto the man's pant leg. "Two."
"I'm going, I'm going!" Renyx said, throwing up his hands as he hurried out the room.
Rifling through the raven's bag, he pulled out the silvery sphere before hurrying outside. Looking around for a decent spot, he then scrolled along the object's surface before coming across the name he was looking for.
It was always a mystery why the teen just didn't call the man 'dad'.
"Hello?"
"Oh, hi, Mr. Lefay."
The man showing on the screen tilted his head slightly to the side. "…Anthony?"
"Please, call me Renyx," he said, shaking his head inwardly.
Damn, he didn't like his first name.
"Ok, Renyx? May I ask why you're calling from Cal's holocell?"
"Uh…"
"Is Cal alright?"
Hearing the man's anxiousness, Renyx merely smiled. "Yeah, the kid's fine. He's…in the bathroom at the moment."
"Oh dear. He hasn't become sicker has he?"
"Sick-no ,no, no. He's just had to go take a leak."
"…ok? So, what is the purpose of this call exactly?
"Oh, um, can Cal stay the night at my place today?"
"Excuse me?" Malecai asked. "Like a sleepover?"
"Yes."
"No." The man had never allowed the teen to spend the night anywhere. It was just too dangerous to let Calix go like that. "He has to come back home."
"Sir-"
"He has to come home," Mal pressed.
"Sir, with all due respect, you're usually not home during the weekend. Wouldn't it be better for Cal to wake up with someone there?" Renyx asked. "I mean, I can have you call him if you'd be that worried about him."
"No."
"Sir, please? He's nineteen years old." It was weird asking, fighting, for the younger male to stay at his place. "He'll be ok. Nothing bad will happen to him," Renyx said.
"Ren-"
"You have my word."
Hearing his name being called from the background, the man looked over his shoulder before his grey eyes focused on the ochre-colored ones. "Fine, ok, but take care of him."
"Of course," the redhead said. "I'll have him call you later."
"Alright, but I have to go now."
"Right, you're a very busy, busy man. Hasta la bye bye," Renyx said with his own goofy grin before the line went blank.
Tucking the little device into his pocket, the man paused as he felt something crawling up his arm. Looking down, he noticed the little bot that was making its way up to his shoulder. Once it was perched there, the man stroked the top of its head with a finger as he entered a side door.
"How'd it go?"
Renyx gave a one-shouldered shrug. "He said CL could stay."
"Good, good," Will said as she finished tying the knot in the raven's bandages.
"So, how's he doing?" he asked as he made his way over.
"Well, I cleaned his wounds."
"That's a good thing, yes?" The woman just sat there. "Will, that's a good thing, right?"
"Well, yes, it's just that he hasn't woken up yet…"
"Did you do this to them too?"
Red eyes shifted upwards to meet the mismatched pair of eyes watching him from over Evren's shoulder. "What?"
"Why the hell are you in here?" the paler man asked as he set aside his uniform.
"Thought you'd appreciate the company, Princess."
Rolling his eyes as he brushed aside the longer strands of hair from his face, the man slid onto a metal table, almost doing well at hiding the shiver that ran down his spine. He hated the medical wing and he hated how cold it always was.
He also loathed the physicals he was subjected to.
Where the rest of his team had two a year, he was subject to one every two months, due to the director's discretion.
Why, he'd never know nor would he ask.
He trusted the man well enough to know he was looking out for his well-being as well as the others he led.
"Do you ever give company to Scarlet and Alexis as well?" Evren asked, shivering again.
He then tensed as he felt something hot pressed against his back. "If I said yes, would you be jealous?" was whispered in his ear.
Tilting his head a bit, the paler man stilled as he felt arms drape themselves along his shoulders. "Envy is beneath me," he declared.
"Princess," Tyson said as he rested his chin in the crook of the other male's neck, "you seriously have to get down from that high horse of yours."
"Excuse me?"
Crimson eyes shifted upwards to stare up at the turquoise-colored one that was showing. "I said to get the stick out of your ass."
"As your lead-"
Springing up, the raven gave the other a small peck before pulling away. Noting the faintest blush coloring porcelain skin, the man smirked inwardly as Evren averted his gaze. Chuckling to himself, Tyson moved his hand to tilt the other's chin up. Leaning in, he pressed a kiss to the side of his leader's neck, moving slowly up to his cheek. Turning the man's head to face him completely, the taller of two eased forward just a little more prior to coming to a stop altogether. His dark gaze then watched the other's face carefully.
The bluish-green color of Evren's eye was darker, guarded but his eyelid seemed to lower by a fraction. His controlled and quiet breaths came out just a tad quicker while his lips twitched ever so slightly.
Ty wasn't quite sure if he could call the other's expression anxious but, again, it was probably the closest response he'd get to see from the usually vacant face.
Smirking to himself, he leaned forward, giving the man a kiss before reeling back as he felt a sudden shock. Bringing a hand up to his mouth, he took a step back to see the smallest of smiles quirk Evren's mouth.
"That wasn't fucking funny," he uttered, still feeling the aftereffects of the officer's skill. "Why the hell do you still have those cables?"
Evren merely held up empty hands. "Don't have anything on me but my underwear."
Lowering his gaze just a tad more, Tyson gave an appreciative nod. "That you do."
"Would you get the hell out of here?"
"Shouldn't a princess be more polite?" the man asked before noticing the twitch along the corner of his teammate's eye. "Alright, alright," he said just as the door opened. "Lighten up and come spar with me afterwards, ok?"
Watching the man go, taking the warmth away with him, Evren rested his hands in his lap as the physician walked over, flipping through a file. "Evren."
"Sir."
The newcomer simply pointed down before looking up as he heard a sigh. "I'm sure you know what to do by now."
Sighing again, but much quieter than the previous, Evren lay down, feeling every inch of the cold metal table press against his exposed back. Seeing then feeling a stethoscope, the man inhaled deeply then exhaled, repeating the process for several seconds. He heard a hum though he never questioned on it.
He always had a slower beating heart when compared to the others.
Seeing a cuff in the man's grasp, Evren raised his arm up. Once secure and he began feeling air being pumped, the younger male took a deep breath once the thing started to slacken.
"78/45." Evren tilted his head in the physician's direction as he began to remove the apparatus. "It went up a bit."
"Hurray," he replied all but less than enthusiastically.
His blood pressure hardly changed, never exceeding 80/52.
"Up."
Doing as told, Evren placed his hands in his lap once more prior to opening his mouth. Closing it around a thermometer, he straightened as the man flashed a small light in each of his eye. Following the small beam for a moment, he then followed the man's finger prior to the device in his mouth going off.
His temperature had always been just a bit lower than that of an average person.
"Is there anything different?" Mismatched eyes focused on the man reading the thermometer. "Any changes since your last checkup? Queasiness, dizziness, sore throat or stomach pains?" Evren shook his head slowly. "Muscle spasms, trouble moving your limbs, or headaches?" Opening his mouth, the pale man then shook his head as he closed it. "You are aware that you have to tell me these things, correct?"
"I said that I was fine."
The doctor simply watched the man before he returned to flipping through his clipboard. "Very well…" he said as he set the thing down in exchange for a voltmeter. "Hands out."
Doing as instructed, Evren held his hands out, mild disdain flashing along his features before he grasped the prongs in front of him. Taking a steady breath, mismatched eyes watched the other man's expression carefully before averting his gaze as the doctor looked at him.
"Evren." Said person shifted. "Are you holding any wires?"
"No."
"Let go." Taking hold of the paler man's hands, the other studied them, finding them completely empty. "Grab it again."
Grabbing the prongs once again, Evren watched the man's expression before listening to the steadily increasing tics coming from the device.
"Why is it making that sound?"
"Evren, are you sure you're not carrying any wires on you?" The officer shook his head stiffly. "I want you to stand." Sliding off the table, the younger male tilted his head by a fraction, a silent question appearing on his face as he watched the other look him up and down. "Now, I want you to concentrate on just one thing. It doesn't matter what-well, try something... happy. Happy thoughts."
Thinking for a brief moment, Evren closed his eyes. Seeing the man's face remain blank as ever, leaving him unreadable as usual, the physician eyed the moving needle that was steadily making its way across the scale.
"Evren." The jade-colored eye made itself known. "What are you thinking about right now?"
"Puppies." He received a skeptic look before opening his turquoise-colored eye. "What?"
"Didn't think you were capable of a joke."
Averting his gaze, the officer looked towards the door. "I was thinking of punching a certain someone in the face."
"Punching someone?"
Evren nodded. "Yes, to punch him hard enough to make his legs buckle beneath him and have his breath caught in his throat." Mismatched eyes then focused on the man. "To have him speechless for at least a good five seconds. I think I'd find great pleasure in that."
"Let go."
Looking elsewhere again, the younger man released the device before stiffening as he felt a prick to his arm. Facing forward again, he watched as the physician filled a needle with his blood. Its color was excessively darker-the usual for him. Seeing another needle, however, the officer grimaced before feeling the point pierce his pale skin.
Turning his attention elsewhere, he chewed on the side of his cheek as the man took the second blood sample.
He already knew the man was going to take a series of samples. He'd usually start feeling slightly dizzy around the sixth though he did quite well at hiding it.
"If any chan-Evren, open your eyes." Feeling a tap on his cheek, the officer pulled away before one of his oddly-colored eyes came into view. "Are y-"
"I told you already that I was fine," Evren replied as he slid back onto the metal table. "Now, if that's all for today's checkup, you may leave."
"Ev-"
"Is there anything else you need to check?" The doctor shook his head. "Then leave."
"Just remember to let me know if-"
"-any changes occur," Evren finished as he watched the man make his way to the door. "Yeah, got it. You can leave now."
Once the other left, the officer rubbed his arm, smearing some of the dark red blood still welling there. Bringing his hand up to his face, he examined the appendage before dropping it back onto his lap.
He felt slightly lightheaded and decided it was probably best to go rest up.
"Ren, are you ok?!"
"Fuck."
Cradling the side of his head, Evren took a deep breath.
He didn't have time for this.
"It'll be ok. You don't have to be scared."
Did I say that? he thought as he recalled seeing large, dark eyes welling with tears. Who…?
"You have to come with me! You promised!"
It was a child but he still couldn't quite place a name, yet alone see his face clearly.
Pondering on that for a while, Evren tensed as he felt a phantom pain stabbing him in the backside. When it migrated to his front, he pressed his palm against it.
"Ren!"
They're…going to take care of… you from now on, ok?"
Did I say that? As the pain intensified, the man fell onto his knees. "Can't…"
"You promised! Come with me, Ren!"
No one ever called him that now.
"Can't…" He leaned forward, bowing his head. "I can't do that…"
A name.
It was at the tip of his tongue but he couldn't bring his thoughts to order when his head felt like it was being crushed beneath a sledgehammer.
"Ren!"
"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" he hissed, fisting a handful of hair.
"Evren, please?"
"Shut up!"
"Princess."
"Ren…please? Come with me! Don't leave me alone!"
"C-can't…"
"Please, Ren…"
"Evren."
"Name…what is it?" he breathed, holding the tresses tighter. "I…know it's important…but-"
"Evren."
"Please!" the child had cried.
Tears were falling down the kid's face by that point but the cop didn't move.
He felt too heavy.
He was feeling cold.
Exhaustion was setting in.
"Ren!"
"Ren!"
Feeling warmth beneath his chin, Evren slowly brought his head up. Something touching his hand had him loosening his hold on his hair. Cracking his eyes open, they drifted up bit by bit until they were peering up at the gold and black-haired man. His ears picked up on quickened breaths though his team member seemed to be composed, a bit curious but collected. He then picked up on what sounded like a heartbeat.
It was somewhat fast, not really if compared to that of a civilian.
"Hey."
Opening his eyes fully this time, Evren slowly slid his hand down his face before his chin held higher. Again, he heard the quickened breaths prior to realizing that they were his own. The heartbeat he heard belonged to him as well.
"Name…I know it…"
"Evren," Tyson said as he ran the pad of his thumb along the dried blood marring white skin, "can't you be left alone for even an hour?"
"I'll protect you." He remembered saying that to a young boy. "Nothing bad will happen." He remembered a hesitant smile. "I'll protect you."
"Hey," the other called; taking hold of the other's bloodied hand, "what's wrong?" He scowled when he didn't receive a retort. "Evren?"
"His name…"
Running his thumb along the back of the other's hand, Tyson inclined his head by a fraction. "You really are something else, Princess," he said before pressing a small kiss to the soft skin. "Now, let's get you back to your room so you can take an aspirin."
When his leader made no reaction, the raven eyed the daintier-looking hand in his own. Eyeing how the long, slender fingers twitched now and then, Tyson pressed another kiss to the back of the appendage before running his tongue along the dried blood there.
It wasn't the paler man's.
He learned Evren's taste from their sparring, that and because of an unrelated incident involving another one of their teammates.
The blood on his person was not of his own.
Scrubbing a hand down his face, Evren pulled his other hand away. A dull throbbing in the side of his head had him clenching his jaw though he managed to contain any sounds of discomfort as he exhaled steadily. Opening his eyes slowly, he focused on willing the pain in his back and abdomen to go away before brushing aside the colorless strands that hung in his line of vision.
Seeing how his subordinate was closer than deemed necessary, Evren shoved him away before getting to his feet. Turning to take his leave, he paused as the other grabbed his hand and he nearly uttered a sound as he was pulled back down to be at the other's level. Glaring at the man, he soon got back onto his feet, merely to be pulled down once more.
If looks could kill, Tyson would've been six feet under by now.
"Let go."
"Not until you tell me what was wrong…or until you give me a kiss."
"Why the hell would I do either?" Evren questioned.
"Why indeed," he replied before grasping the man's chin.
Watching the barest shade a pink tinting porcelain skin, the raven leaned forward giving the other male a kiss. He ignored his leader's tensing as he tried to pull away, no success to be shown. And having his head tilted back to the slightest degree, Evren tried to turn his head, again, failing as a result.
Amused by the struggling, Tyson finally pulled away when Evren had stopped moving completely. Placing a bit of distance between them, he then looked at the other's darkened eyes before noticing the way his lips parted in an almost speechless manner. Being content with that, the taller man began to lean in again before catching the other as he leaned back. Smirking at the reaction, the raven would admit surprise as a fist collided with his nose.
"Ow! What the fuck, Evren?!" he hissed as he scooted away, hand pressed to his nose as it began to leak blood. "What the hell was that for?!"
The smallest of smiles caught red eyes before the man's lips flattened. "Well, I'm feeling a bit happier now," Evren replied as he got to his feet."
Swiping his thumb along his bottom lip, he licked off the blood he had gotten there. Sparing the man on the floor a glance, Evren grabbed his uniform before walking out of the office and off to his private quarters.
Gingerly rubbing his nose, Tyson tilted his head back to stem the blood flow. "You really are something else, Princess."
