Chapter 017
Beeihae Shinnshiow
Shinnshiow moved nimbly. His friends' two pairs of eyes watched carefully what he was doing.
"Eh? Can you get out of bed already?" Iren looked at him with a worried look. He looked really worried.
"Of course I can walk now. Didn't the doctor tell you?"
Iren and Yihshyong looked at each other. They looked back at Shinnshiow with furrowed brows.
"The doctor said that you are progressing very fast. But we don't think it's this fast." Iren's voice sounded surprised.
Then Shinnshiow told everything that happened after he woke up from his sleep. Yihshyong and Iren listened attentively.
"What do you think?" Shinnshiow wanted to hear what his friends thought.
"Hmmm..." Yihshyong nodded. His voice was full of doubt. "There's always an explanation for everything. But we have to be careful in making assumptions. There's always the possibility that your immune system is excellent. It's also possible that the poisoning you've experienced was only mild. So, we don't know for sure what causes your recovery to be extraordinarily fast like this. Consuming a super drug that was given in secret by a mysterious person was only one possibility. Although I think the possibility is not too big."
"That's right! I don't think it's just not that big. It doesn't even make sense. Why would someone sneak into this hospital to give you some kind of super drug?" Iren seemed to agree with Yihshyong as well.
Shinnshiow looked at his two friends. "This may sound fanciful to you. But if you think about it, haven't the things that have been happening around us made sense the past few days?"
"I know what you meant." Yihshyong nodded. "But what you just told me about is just your conjecture. There isn't any evidence to support that. The violations that have occurred in this place cannot form the basis of your suspicions. The violations were just accidents. There was no element of intent. Meanwhile, what you said clearly involved elements from the outside. Sorry if I have to say this. But I think you and the nurse are delusional too much."
Shinnshiow realized that his two friends did not support the suspicions that had arisen in his mind. He decided to no longer prolong the conversation about it.
I think I'd better discuss this with Dahge later.
"Okay! Maybe you're right. I'm really exaggerating. Maybe, this kind of thinking is just one of the side effects of the poison."
Iren and Yihshyong nodded at Shinnshiow's words.
"Let's make it like this." Shinnshiow diverted the conversation to another topic. "Now you guys just watch over me. I'll try to get some exercise."
Yihshyong's face changed. "I don't think the doctor will agree to this. Don't rush it."
Ignoring Yihshyong's words, Shinnshiow immediately did a push-up. After that, he did other movements. Iren and Yihshyong only shook their heads several times. They weren't trying to prevent Shinnshiow.
Fifteen minutes later, Shinnshiow stopped doing the exercises. He felt tired.
"I told you that recovery takes time." Yihshyong said as he led Shinnshiow back to the bed. "You just rest."
Just as Shinnshiow was back on the bed, the bedroom door opened. Two nurses appeared. They brought food to Shinnshiow.
"Ah!" Shinnshiow cheered happily. "What a coincidence. I'm already very hungry!"
"What time is it?" Iren rose from his seat. "Why are you delivering dinner? It's not time yet."
"The doctor ordered us to give Mr. Beeihae dinner early. He said that Mr. Beeihae needed calorie and nutrition intake immediately."
"Then what we should do if he is hungry again later tonight?" Yihshyong seemed to be very interested in hearing the answers from the nurses.
"We don't know yet, Sir. But it is possible that there will be more food rations."
"Shouldn't it be regulated how much food should enter the patient's body every day?" asked Iren.
"That's right, Sir! But the condition of each patient is different. The doctor said earlier that there was an accelerated growth of cells in Mr. Beeihae's body, so he needs sufficient intake to make the cells grow perfectly."
This hospital is extraordinary. The regulations that apply are not at all the things that are usually done elsewhere.
Yihshyong and Iren looked at each other. They both said nothing more.
"Cell growth acceleration? What does that mean?" Yihshyong asked the wall when the two nurses had left the room.
"Maybe it means that some of the cells in Shinnshiow's body divide rapidly as a way to restore his body's condition," said Iren.
"Isn't that even dangerous? Cells that grow rapidly won't they actually suck up the intake that comes in so that the performance of the body's organs is disrupted?"
"That is if the cells multiply without control," said Iren. "I think the doctors believe that this condition is only temporary."
Shinnshiow laughed at his two friends, who looked confused. He was eating voraciously.
"That looks delicious," said Iren.
Shinnshiow nodded happily. "Didn't you buy food earlier?"
"It's still afternoon," Yihshyong replied. "We plan to get food in about an hour or a half."
"Why don't you just buy it now? I'm sure, as soon as you see me eat, you guys will feel hungry."
Yihshyong rose from his seat. He turned to Iren. "You stay here looking after Shinnshiow. I'll buy food for us."
"Don't take too long," said Iren.
Yihshyong nodded. He did not go long. Half an hour later, he was back with a plastic bag filled with food packages. He laughed when he saw Iren, who already looked suffering.
"You two better eat now," Shinnshiow said. "Renge's face is already like this. I'm worried that if his stomach isn't filled soon, he might faint."
Immediately, Yihshyong opened the package he was carrying. They then ate voraciously.
After that, the three of them watched television in the room. Exactly two hours after the completion of the thorough inspection of Shinnshiow, the bedroom door opened again.
There were five people who entered the room. They were two doctors, two nurses and Tsaehorng.
"Eh! You're back again," Yihshyong shouted.
"That's right, Uncle! Earlier, the hospital contacted me via the pager. Other than there had been a significant change in Uncle Beeihae's condition, they didn't really say in detail what had happened. Because I was worried, so after finishing some business, as soon as possible I came back here. Apparently Uncle Beeihae's condition has improved."
"Good evening, Doctor." Shinnshiow smiled.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Beeihae." The two doctors answered in unison greetings from Shinnshiow. The younger doctor approached Shinnshiow. He smiled. His face was so bright.
"The examination results showed that Mr. Beeihae was in excellent condition. Very different from when he came here this morning."
"So I have recovered, Doctor?"
"Of course you haven't recovered one hundred percent. You still have to rest a lot. Don't do tiring physical activities."
"What about the acceleration of cell growth that the doctor told the nurse earlier?" Iren looked very curious.
The older doctor turned to the younger doctor. Shinnshiow suspected that the fact should not have been casually disclosed by doctors.
"Yes, it is part of the recovery process. So usually in the recovery process, there is cell growth in an attempt to replace the damaged cells. In Mr. Beeihae's case, the attempt to replace these damaged cells was way faster than normal. "
"Is it harmless, Doctor?" This time, it was Yihshyong who opened his mouth.
"No, Sir!" The older doctor took over to answer Yihshyong's questions. "Thing like this, although rare, it doesn't mean never happen. I'm not saying that there won't be problems or complications. However, of cases like this that have occurred, there has never been a patient whose condition has worsened. Of course, we must continuously monitor the developments from day to day. One week from now, there must be another examination to see if the cells are developing normally. We don't want those cells still growing at an incredible rate after you recover. That situation was extremely dangerous. If the growth is out of control, then we have to take some medical measures."
Shinnshiow listened to the doctor's description seriously. The doctor's words made him a bit worried. But he still tried to always think positively. Everything must have a way out. Even if there was none, still as a human being, he was obliged to try. If he had done all he could, whatever the result, then there was nothing to regret.
"So what now, Doctor?" Yihshyong asked.
"Mr. Beeihae is fine. I think he just needs to rest here for two or three days."
"Is it okay if I go home now?" Shinnshiow asked.
"I think it's still too early, Sir!" The younger doctor's face turned pale.
"You said earlier that I'm fine. The recovery process is ongoing. I just need a thorough examination like before, one week from now."
The younger doctor turned to the older doctor. The answer he received was a resounding nod.
"All right, Sir! But during one week at home, you can't do strenuous physical activities. Don't exercise. If you only stretch your muscles lightly, of course it's fine as long as you don't overdo it. But, don't take more than ten minutes every day. There must be someone who guarantees that you will follow all the provisions."
Shinnshiow looked at Yihshyong and Iren.
One of them has to say something!
"I will guarantee it, Mr. Doctor," said Iren. "I'll be watching him closely."
"Alright, Sir!" said the doctor.
"Don't forget to eat nutritious food. And the amount must be large. Cell growth is fast. It needs enough fuel," said the other doctor.
"That's all, Sir," said the younger doctor to Iren. "Please, now come with me to hear in detail the things to do and things not to do."
"Can we solve the paperwork now, Sir?" Tsaehorng asked.
"Yes, Sir," said the doctor. "Sir, please follow this nurse." The doctor pointed at one of the nurses. "Nurse, would you please escort Mr. Mingju to that room?"
The nurse nodded. He motioned for Tsaehorng to follow him.
After the doctors, nurses, Iren, and Tsaehorng left the room. Shinnshiow got off the bed. He sat beside Yihshyong, who was busy watching television.
Yihshyong turned his head. "What's wrong? Just rest in bed, please."
"Songfei hasn't been found yet. I want to join in looking for his."
"We can't let you do that, absolutely! Have you forgotten what the doctor just said?"
"I understand that. But that doesn't mean I can't do anything. I can just sit in the car while you guys follow the lead you get."
"Whose car?"
"Of course Tsaehorng's car. He will definitely not stop helping us until all the problems are solved."
"We can't use Tsaehorng like that."
"He doesn't mind himself. So we don't use him."
"Are you crazy or what? What if you get hurt?"
"In fact, the risk that I face will not be as big as yours. You are afraid that I will get hurt. Do you think you won't get hurt?"
"All right! But we have to discuss things like this with Dahge first."
"I know that. I hope Shyongge will support me in front of Dahge," said Shinnshiow.
"Okay! Now let's wait for Tsaehorng and Iren to come back here."
After that, Shinnshiow returned to bed while Yihshyong continued watching his favorite shows on television. They waited there for a long time until finally Tsaehorng and Iren came back together with several nurses. They brought a wheelchair.
At exactly nine o'clock in the evening, Beeihae Shinnshiow, Shimen Yihshyong, Nangong Iren, and Mingju Tsaehorng were already in the hospital lobby on the ground floor. Iren pushed the wheelchair. Shinnshiow sat in the wheelchair. They were getting ready to leave the hospital building. All administrative matters were in order.
"Uncles, you just need to wait at the front door of the building. I will go to the parking lot to tell the driver that we are ready to leave. Later, we will pick up all of you at the front door." Tsaehorng said that while moving away towards the back door of the building.
"Where are you going?" Shinnshiow was confused as to why Tsaehorng left through the back door of the building.
Tsaehorng stopped in his tracks. He turned and approached Shinnshiow. "The car park is behind this building, Uncle. So the car will turn around and pick you up at the front door."
"Why don't we go to the parking lot together?" Shinnshiow asked.
"I'm afraid Uncle will get tired."
"That's bullshit. I'm just sitting in a wheelchair."
"But we have to return the wheelchair. So it's better to leave the wheelchair at the front door than in the car park. This isn't a supermarket where we can take the shopping cart all the way to the car park and leave it there," said Iren.
"Whose wheelchair is this?" Yihshyong asked.
"This is my wheelchair, Uncle. This afternoon I asked the driver to bring this wheelchair from home."
"Then we don't need to go to the front door," said Yihshyong.
Without delay, the four of them then walked to the car park. The parking lot was so large that it took them about ten minutes before they reached the car.
"Good evening, Sir." Tsaehorng's driver greeted them with a bright face.
"Good evening," Tsaehorng replied. "Now we are heading to Pyngyuan to escort these gentlemen home."
"Yes, Sir!" The driver then opened the trunk of the car. Shinnshiow then stood up. Tsaehorng folded the wheelchair. The driver then approached them.
"Oh! Isn't that…!" Tsaehorng's driver pointed at a car speeding out of the parking lot.
Tsaehorng turned his head and stared at the car his driver was pointing at. His forehead creased.
"What is it?" Iren, who was ready to lead Shinnshiow into the car, stopped his steps.
"That's like the car I took this afternoon when I left here," said Tsaehorng.
"Where should the car be?" asked Iren.
"After dropping me off at the painting exhibition, the car took Uncle Dongfang home. I ordered the driver to stand guard there. So, if there is an emergency, then Uncle Dongfang or others can use the car."
"It does look a lot like your car," Yihshyong said. "But we can't see very close. So we can't be sure it's the same car."
"Did you see the license plate on that car?" Tsaehorng asked the driver.
"No, Sir! It's too far. But I'm sure it's your car."
"If that's true, it means that there are occupants of the house who used the car to come here. We didn't meet them. So it's possible that they visited Dahge," said Yihshyong.
"Didn't the doctor say before we went down to the lobby that Dahge was sleeping so we shouldn't have to say goodbye?" asked Iren.
"Maybe it's true that Dahge is resting. It could be that the person has visited him since earlier. He left Dahge's room after Dahge slept," said Yihshyong.
"We'll just ask, Sir, when we get there." The driver made a suggestion. He took the wheelchair that had been folded and then put it in the trunk.
Tsaehorng nodded. "Or, later Uncle Shimen can ask Uncle Duanmuh about this when he wakes up."
Yihshyong nodded. It seemed he also wanted to know more about this. "Soon after this, I'm going to Dahge's room."
Tsaehorng opened the left front door of the car. "Uncle Nangong, Uncle Beeihae, come on in right away."
Iren continued his steps that had stopped before. He carefully guided Shinnshiow into the car. Once inside, Shinnshiow and Iren waved at Yihshyong.
Yihshyong nodded. He returned the wave of Iren and Shinnshiow's hand. After the car started moving, Yihshyong was still standing there. From the rear window, Shinnshiow saw Yihshyong until their car pulled out of the parking lot and Yihshyong disappeared from his sight.
