Chapter 003
Dongfang Jenqyih
With light steps, Dongfang Jenqyih walked out of the bedroom. He looked at the clock hanging on the wall.
Exactly nine in the morning. Meaning, I only slept for less than an hour!
Even though he was still sleepy, Jenqyih still remembered clearly that after leaving the police station, he arrived home at eight o'clock in the morning. The weather outside the house was so bright. But he wasn't the least bit interested in that. There was only one thing on his mind, which was to get some rest.
It was still clear in his mind that before, he and Yihshyong were handcuffed in a canoe in the middle of the lake. It took the police about twenty minutes to free them and bring them to the shore of the lake. After that, they had to go to the police station to testify and provide some information.
At the police station, they met Iren and Tsaehorng. The two men were also there to give statements to the police. Just like Jenqyih and Yihshyong, their two friends also looked so tired and sleepy.
They were not long at the police station. Actually, the police had not finished questioning them. But because the condition of the four of them could not be said to be good at all, the police allowed them to go home. The police believed that under such conditions, they likely would not be able to answer all the questions accurately.
Of course, they still had to provide information. The police only briefly postponed the things they had to do. Those officers promised to come to their house to continue the process. The police did not say exactly what time they would be arriving. Jenqyih and the other friends did not ask any further.
Police station at Yuehming was not that far from their house. However, that close distance felt like thousands of kilometers.Along the way, Jenqyih's neck drooped several times because it could no longer support his head.
When he got home, Jenqyih was half asleep. Even though he had heard Yihshyong and Tsaehorng said something to Chioujen and Jinqkang, he had not paid the slightest attention to what the two of them had said. In his mind, he just wanted to dart straight into the bedroom, where there was a bed with a very soft surface.
Jenqyih woke up because in his sleep he felt very thirsty. So, now he immediately headed to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Jenqyih was lucky because there was still a bottle of water on the table in the kitchen. In the refrigerator, there was still a lot of water. But Jenqyih didn't want to drink such cold water. At least, not in the morning like that.
After finishing drinking a glass of water, he returned to the dining room right away. Previously, when he left the room, Jenqyih had seen Chioujen sitting at their dining table. At first, he thought Chioujen was reading something. But now, when Jenqyih approached Chioujen, he realized Chioujen was asleep.
He must have not slept last night either!
Still with light and very careful steps, Jenqyih walked into the living room. He could hear the sound of the television. When he got there, Jinqkang was indeed on the couch. But the young man was not watching television. Just like Chioujen, he also fell asleep.
This kid must be exhausted. What happened to us was really none of his business. We shouldn't have made him like this. What a pity!
Jenqyih intended to sleep again. But before entering the bedroom, he wanted to go to the bathroom first. After finishing urinating, Jenqyih didn't want to rush out. He decided to sit in the bathroom for a while. His eyes still felt so heavy. Less than thirty seconds later, his head drooped.
Jenqyih didn't know how long he was there when he heard the sound of banging on the bathroom door from outside. The banging sound was so disturbing because it was so loud.
"Jenqyih! Jenqyih! Are you okay?"
It was Yihshyong's voice. It seemed he was awake, too. Jenqyih still didn't want to move from there. But the pounding on the door got louder. Reluctantly, he stood up. A split second later, he walked toward the bathroom door.
"Yihge! Please come out first!" This time, the voice that sounded so loud was Iren's voice. Her tone sounded exactly like that of someone who was anxious yet worried at the same time.
What is this? Why are they behaving like this? Is this house on fire?
Still with such a lazy movement, Jenqyih opened the bathroom door. As soon as the bathroom door opened, he could see faces looking up with concern. It turned out that Yihshyong and Iren were not the only ones standing at the door. Chioujen was also there.
"What's wrong with you guys? You've been screaming so early in the morning? You guys can wait a bit. I won't be in here long. At most, ten minutes I'll be out."
"We've been knocking gently for ten minutes. But you are not answering," said Chioujen.
"That's right, Uncle. We were anxious something had happened in the bathroom." A figure appeared from the side. Mingju Tsaehorng was also there.
Jenqyih looked around. He saw Jinqkang and Tsaehorng's driver. It turned out that everyone had gathered in front of the bathroom. The driver was in the house because Tsaehorng asked him to get a rest there. The young man was worried that something would happen in the middle of the road if the driver came home so tired.
"I just went into the bathroom. There's nothing for you to worry about!"
"What do you mean? What time did you go into the bathroom, anyway?" Yihshyong widened his eyes.
Jenqyih looked at the clock hanging on the wall. He was wide-eyed. It was nine forty minutes past.
How could I possibly sleep well in the bathroom?
"Turns out I fell asleep in the bathroom. Sorry! Sorry!"
That means, earlier I was exhausted and sleepy. I hope my body is strong. If I get sick, I am afraid everyone will be bothered!
"It's okay. The most important thing is that nothing bad had happened to you. We were so worried earlier." Yihshyong's tone was full of relief.
"Thank you all. I'm fine. I'm just still tired and sleepy," said Jenqyih. "All of you are awake. Are there any extraordinary things?"
"You're right. While you were in the bathroom, something important happened." Iren opened his mouth excitedly.
"What's important?" Jenqyih looked at everyone present there.
I had only briefly fallen asleep, but something important had happened. Hopefully, this is pleasant news.
"Now let's sit down at the dining table first," said Yihshyong. "Let's discuss the recent developments."
The seven of them, including Tsaehorng's driver, then sat down on the chairs in the dining room.
"About ten minutes past nine, the police called us." Yihshyong started his speech.
"Do they want to come here now to question us?" Jenqyih frowned. "Isn't it still too early? I'm still sleepy. You could ask them to come in the afternoon or evening."
Could they not wait until a few more hours? This is really annoying.
Yihshyong shook his head vigorously. "Not that problem!"
"Shinnshiow has been found!" Iren said in a firm voice.
Jenqyih immediately straightened up. "Really! That's wonderful. Where is he now?" Jenqyih asked excitedly.
"He is lying in the hospital unconscious. The police could not question him either." This time, it was Chioujen who answered. "Earlier, the police only had a chance to talk to me a little."
"The police only had a moment to talk to you?" Jenqyih looked at Chioujen. He was a bit confused by the sentence that sounded a bit ambiguous. "Really? Who was on the phone?"
"I took the call." Chioujen nodded. "But I don't know much yet."
"What's the complete story?" Jenqyih looked at everyone in surprise.
"Earlier, Chioujen received a call from the police. After the police said that Shinnshiow had met them, they immediately asked to speak to me. Then Chioujen woke me up straight away," said Yihshyong.
"So we all haven't heard what the police said to Shyongge either," said Iren.
"As usual, this time, the police also didn't give us really obvious information. They just told us that earlier, at half-past nine, someone took Shinnshiow to the emergency department of a hospital. At that time, Shinnshiow was already unconscious. Soon after, the person who brought Shinnshiow left the hospital immediately."
"Did that person find Shinnshiow lying unconscious in the middle of the road?" Jenqyih was so curious. "Who exactly is that person?"
"That guy didn't say anything about who he was or where he had found Shinnshiow."
"Why did that person just leave without giving his identity?" Iren looked at Yihshyong.
"Maybe he's busy. He has to leave soon because he has other things he has to do soon," Jinqkang said.
"Or it could also be because he doesn't want to be a witness," Tsaehorng said. "Many people think it is a hassle."
"There is still another possibility." Chioujen frowned. "He could be afraid of being caught because that person is actually part of a kidnapping ring."
"You guys are right." Yihshyong nodded. "Those possibilities are worth considering. I think the police must have started tracking the guy down."
"Wait a minute! There's something I don't understand," Jenqyih said. "How did the police know Shinnshiow was there so quickly?"
"This is a bit odd," said Yihshyong. "The person who delivered him said that the person he brought was called Beeihae Shinnshiow."
"Oddly, in what way, Sir?" Tsaehorng's driver, who had been silent all along, suddenly opened his mouth too.
"If that person was afraid of being caught, then he wouldn't say right away about Shinnshiow's identity. It would be safer if he only said that he found Shinnshiow in the middle of the street. Wouldn't it be better if, after leaving the hospital, then he called the police to say that they had released Shinnshiow and were currently in the hospital?"
"So according to Shyongge, that person isn't part of the criminal gang, yet he knows Shinnshiow?" Asked Iren.
"I don't know. At the moment, it's still a possibility." Yihshyong clenched his fists. His face was so serious.
"Then when are we going to the hospital?" Asked Jenqyih.
"The police said they would let us know when Shinnshiow regained consciousness."
"Don't we have to wait until he wakes up first and then come to see him?" Iren's voice sounded a little irritated.
"Maybe the police are just thinking in a practical way. I don't think the police will mind if we come to see Shinnshiow now. But we won't be able to talk to him," Yihshyong said.
"Did the police also talk about when they would be here to question us?" Asked Iren.
"Yes. The police said after lunch they would be here. Just after one o'clock."
There was the sound of a car stopping in front of the house.
"Who's that?" Jenqyih turned around.
"Sorry, Uncle. Earlier at the police station, I was able to call some of my employees. I had them come here at ten o'clock to bring us a change of clothes and some food. I didn't expect them to be a bit earlier. It's not ten o'clock yet."
"That's great! I'm so hungry already." Iren cheered while clapping. "I think, of all of us, only Chioujen and Jinqkang have had breakfast."
"Earlier at the police station, you were not given food?" Chioujen asked.
"They served us only syrup and biscuits." Jenqyih laughed. "So right now I'm starving."
"What did you have for breakfast?" Iren directed his eyes towards Jinqkang and Chioujen.
"We ate the food that you brought," said Jinqkang. "There were five packages earlier. We ate two packages. So there are still three packages that are still sealed."
"Ah! Of course! I even forgot about that!" Iren laughed.
Jenqyih was surprised. "Did you come home with food? When did you buy food? I saw nothing at all? I don't think there's any way you two stopped to buy food on your way to the police station."
"At three in the morning, we had time to eat food sold by mobile food vendors. After that, we bought several packs to take home. Uncle didn't see it because when we arrived at the police station, we left the food in the car. We didn't bring them into the police station," said Tsaehorng. "We thought it would be odd if we walked into the police station with food."
Yihshyong nodded. "I understand. But that means you shouldn't have to ask your staff to come over with food."
"I'm afraid it's not enough, Uncle." Tsaehorng smiled. "Uncles here really like to eat. So, I thought, the more, of course, the better."
Jenqyih laughed. "You are right!"
"Then, after we got out of the police station, why didn't you tell me?" Yihshyong turned his gaze towards Iren. "We can immediately eat in the parking lot at the police station," said Yihshyong.
"Sorry, this morning when I left the police station, I was so sleepy. All I could think about was how to get home quickly. So I forgot that there was food in the car's trunk." Iren laughed. "I just remembered when I almost got home. I didn't even think to tell you right away. In fact, soon after, I forgot again. Only remembered after Jinqkang said that."
"That's right, Sir!" Jinqkang got up from his chair. "Earlier, when I got home, Mr. Mingju immediately told me about it. So I took the food and put it in the fridge. At that time, Mr. Jongharng came into the kitchen. Finally, we took two packages, and we warmed them up in the microwave. "
Yihshyong also stood up. He patted Tsaehorng's shoulder. "Hurry up and meet your employees. We don't want they wait too long outside the fence."
Tsaehorng nodded. "Jinqkang, let's go outside." He asked Jinqkang to welcome his newly arrived employee. "You come with me too." The young man turned to the driver.
"Yes, Sir! But does this mean I have to go home now, Sir?" The driver looked at Tsaehorng pitifully. It was clear the man still wanted to be there.
"I don't think you can go home yet. There is a possibility that later the police will also question you. Later this afternoon, I will order someone to drive you to your house. Tomorrow, you will rest at home. You can come to work again the day after tomorrow."
"Thank you, Sir!" The driver nodded. He then walked over to follow Tsaehorng and Jinqkang.
Not long after, the people had returned to the house, along with Tsaehorng's employees. Three Tsaehorng employees came. They brought lots of food.
"Have you eaten yet?" Yihshyong looked at the three Tsaehorng employees.
"Yes, Sir!" answered one of them.
"Is that true?" Yihshyong's gaze was filled with inquisitiveness.
"That's right, Sir."
"You brought a lot of food. Come on, you have to help us eat." Iren said that while laughing.
"Come on, don't be shy." Jenqyih helped persuade them.
The three people looked at Tsaehorng.
"You guys sit here too. We eat together," Tsaehorng said.
The dining table in the house was quite large. The capacity was twelve people. So, the ten of them could sit freely there. Jinqkang and Chioujen emerged from the kitchen. They brought plates, bowls, glasses and other cutlery.
"Jinqkang, the food I brought, please warm it up for a while, then you serve it here too," said Iren.
"Should I warm all the three packs?" asked Jinqkang.
Iren nodded. "Yes. I was worried that if we kept it too long, it might taste bad. It was sitting in the trunk too long before you put it in the fridge."
Jinqkang nodded. Right away, he returned to the kitchen. A few minutes later, he returned with a large bowl containing the goat's leg soup that Iren bought at three in the morning. They all then ate heartily.
After finishing their meal, Tsaehorng spoke seriously to the three people. They listened intently to the things Tsaehorng had to say. After that, the three of them came out. Tsaehorng told them to carry on with their respective jobs. But two minutes later, one of them came back into the house. He brought two folders. One folder was red and the other one was blue. He gave Tsaehorng the two not-too-thick folders.
"Earlier, someone came and left these folders, Sir."
"I know," Tsaehorng said. "Thank You."
Tsaehorng slowly opened the red folder. He nodded after seeing its contents.
"Now you take my car to the car wash." Tsaehorng handed the person the car keys. "After that, you take it to the exhibition."
"Okay, Sir! Will you also go there later?"
"Maybe later this afternoon I'll go there after the business here is finished."
The person nodded. Then he immediately went outside.
"A report on your business?" Yihshyong asked after watching Tsaehorng leaf through the documents contained in the folder.
"No, Uncle. This is about a person named Yeuduo Jendaw."
This kid is quick to get information. Do the people who work on this kid all never sleep?
Jenqyih watched how Tsaehorng worked. He believed that one day Tsaehorng would become a successful person. Perhaps even more successful than his father and grandfather.
"So who exactly is he?" Yihshyong, who had stood up earlier, sat back down after hearing Tsaehorng's words.
Tsaehorng took a breath. He took out a piece of paper from the folder. "As Mr. Jongli has pointed out, Yeuduo Jendaw is a journalist. To be precise, he is the chief editor of a magazine in this city."
Jenqyih looked at where Tsaehorng was pointing. He pointed to a word that was the name of the town where Chioujen had been working for the past six months.
Yihshyong, Iren, and Jenqyih turned to Chioujen.
"I didn't know the guy. Besides, my line of work has nothing to do with the printed media," Chioujen said.
"How old is that person?" Asked Jenqyih.
"Same as Uncle Duanmuh's age." Tsaehorng pointed at a line on the paper he was holding.
"Meaning, most likely he is Dahge's school friend," said Jenqyih.
"No, Uncle. He is the brother-in-law of one of Uncle Duanmuh's underclassmen."
"So he doesn't know Dahge?" This time, it was Yihshyong who asked.
"According to the information I got, Uncle Duanmuh knew Mr. Yeuduo. However, they are not close. The one who introduced the two of them was Uncle Duanmuh's underclassman, who is Mr. Yeuduo's brother-in-law."
"Did he ever ask Dahge for help?" Asked Iren.
"I don't know," Tsaehorng said. "The possibility is that Mr. Yeuduo was already caught by the criminals before he had the chance to ask Uncle Duanmuh for help."
"We can't say that he had not had time to contact Beaushu. What if it turns out he had already contacted Beaushu? Then the incident where Beaushu disappeared is also related to the case being investigated by Mr. Yeuduo," said Chioujen.
Iren and Yihshyong looked at Chioujen. Jenqyih didn't know what was going on, but he caught a strange look in the eyes of his two friends towards Chioujen. Perhaps they didn't agree with Chioujen's opinion. But maybe there were other things that Jenqyih didn't know yet.
"I think we should talk to Mr. Yeuduo. If it's true that he had contacted Dahge, then there's a possibility that he knows what Dahge is doing. At least we can get a bit of an idea. Right now we don't know what happened to Dahge at all." After saying those words, Jenqyih observed the reactions on the faces of everyone presented.
There is a possibility that Shyongge and Iren saw something when they went looking for the bag. And that had something to do with Chioujen. What makes them not free to talk about it? Why did things turn out this way?
