Dear diary I'm a writer.
It is May 1. The first day of the fifth month on the Gregorian calendar. Dairy, "Gregorian" is a funny word isn't it? Greg or Ian, which one?754Please respect copyright.PENANA7tEQhUXrp0
Ha! You know I won't be looking at that word the same again!754Please respect copyright.PENANAnbcMr64e5y
It's Children's month, the month of the child. Celebrating the little ones, the ones seeing the big picture as a big picture, the innocent, ignorant and proud. The ones I wonder whether or not would get my joke. I had a few theories about a child's mind and, oddly enough, I had no child I could do this research with, or on. Oh questionnaires, you never cross any lines do you? There are people I had asked what they find interesting about children and there was a string of thought that for the most part was consistent: Their thoughts are different than that of adults. One person I asked told me that they speak nothing but incoherent babble. That intrigued me, especially since I remember a man, basically saying this: "A really good definition of creativity I like is the putting together of two previously unrelated things -could be objects or ideas- and creating something new" which also reminded me of something else he said:
"the great thing about being a kid is that you do use imagination, you are curious, you're constantly looking outside the box because everything is new and wonderful...creativity really is about using your imagination but trying to harness those skills that you learned along the way without having lost that initial curiosity"
I tried using his words to find some understanding of the mind of a child, and thinking that the reason they may come off as incoherent is that they're basically repeating what they learn or what they hear, because they think it may grant some understanding of the world around them. They're learning as they go and picking up what they learn on the way. Since they're doing all that, and they don't know how where to connect what, it's not coherent. And that may be a reason for the constant interrogations older ones face when dealing with a child. Questionnaires are awesome, didn't I tell you diary?. Back to my joke. A child would not get it. They'd probably ask questions like:
Why is it funny?754Please respect copyright.PENANAK1kLZ6CrAc
Gregorian is a name, Greg and Ian are also names. Gregorian sounds like it's asking a question, Greg or Ian.
How do they relate?754Please respect copyright.PENANAxD1RPK5IDV
They...basically don't Greg is a name, Ian is a name, you can't choose one since they have to combine their powers for the world to have time "the power in a name"! They all name things, Gregorian is a type of calendar, Greg and Ian are names of people, people age. Who's gonna be older on this day of the calendar, Greg or Ian?
I'm not funny diary.
I'd be prepared for those questions, since it's not as straightforward as a knock joke. Like this one:
"Knock-knock.754Please respect copyright.PENANAWTjLcMhVBD
Who's there?754Please respect copyright.PENANAQjEVvQhCfi
Boo.754Please respect copyright.PENANAxXXfjdVhjw
Boo-who?754Please respect copyright.PENANAnjSzTcBOWm
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!"
That goes straight to the point of misunderstanding, and children know that. No questions for the genius who made that joke up.
Enough about my joke for now though, I think that stage of life is amazing, you put together random things you see and spit it out as fact. People do often change, but, are those the fundamentals of what one perceives as truth? Through the eyes of a child...I think so.
I have absolutely no idea, but I do know what I'm looking up now; that, that and Gregorian.
