Shivali Agarwal took a deep breath before she crossed the road to get to the bar. The cool night air mixed with the air from the sea made her feel like she was so clean that she was floating.
She relished the feeling that the night air gave her, knowing that the air inside the bar will probably make her nauseous. Just thinking about it made her feel dirty already.
Shaking her head to get over her thoughts, Shivali put on the half mask she had been told was part of tonight’s party theme and crossed the road to the sea-facing Bike’s Bar.
The bar had not originally been intended to be named that. It was supposed to be named after the previous owner, Mike. But Mike was dyslexic and wrote bike instead of Mike in the registration forms.
When Shivali found out the reasoning behind the bar’s odd name, she could not contain her laughter. The stupidity of the name suited perfectly the idiots who were frequenting it.
She spotted the idiots in question kissing on a stool as soon as she entered the bar.
Ew. It's like they are not even trying to hide, at this point.
That was not entirely true.
At least they choose a minor bar, as opposed to the bigger ones that her family owned. This could have been worse.
As Shivali made a beeline to them, she took out the pie she had brought for the occasion. Taking it in her right hand, she used it to slap the kissing pair with such force that their heads banged into the wall on the other side.
Disoriented, Punit Gupta and Nandita Gupta tried to understand the situation and get the sticky cherry jam off themselves.
As soon as Nandita recognised who it was, she let out a tiny scream. It would have been a louder scream if it had not been drowned out by the loud music in the bar.
Nandita was the fiance of Shivali’s brother, Harsh, and Punit was Nandita’s first cousin.
Shivali found that they had been in a relationship for years from her PI. Since the incestuous relationship would have been really embarrassing if it came out, Nandita and Punit had planned to trap a pair of siblings so they would not be separated by getting married into different families.
How had my brother not noticed this yet? For someone smart, he is really slow at times.
Nandita had managed to seduce Harsh, Shivali’s younger brother, but Punit creeped Shivali out. It was very likely that Nandita would try to break the engagement off now that she had not been able to seduce the pair of siblings.
God! This is disgusting.
Shivali got a couple of paper napkins off the counter and started to leave the bar while cleaning her hand, knowing that her presence there had probably gotten the message across.
Had this been her, she would have been nothing more than annoyed at the situation. But her brother had genuine feelings for Nandita and anything that hurt Harsh was unacceptable to Shivali.
She was outside the bar and almost in her car when Nandita and Punit finally caught up to her.
“Shivali,” Nandita said, catching hold of Shivali’s elbow and turning her around, “I can explain.”
“What? That you are cheating on my brother with your cousin? Or is it cheating on your cousin with my brother, since the two of you started the relationship first?”

Punit had been trying to be rational when the bitch had slammed his and Nandita’s head into the wall with whatever that sickly sweet and sticky thing was, but the raging b!tch had been playing hard to get with him since he started trying to seduce her.
When he and Nandita had chosen the Agarwal siblings as their target, they had done it on the basis of how easy to fool Harsh Agarwal had been at the initial trial they had done on possible candidates for their cover-up spouses. Neither had expected that Shivali Agarwal would be headstrong enough to compensate for her brother’s naivete and then some.
Had this b!tch started a relationship with him, he would have been making strides in his plans with Nandita. But Shivali not only refused his advances, she even tried to ruin the hard work done by Nandita.
Now that she had seen him and Nandita kissing, she was sure to tell her brother.
What if she told the media?
Though tattling about things to the media was considered really taboo, the idea being they will all scratch each others’ back and let the media concentrate on poorer people. But with Shivali Agarwal being the tsunami wave that she was, there was no given what direction she may take and how much destruction she could do to others without feeling a thing.
Nandita and Punit had come up with this plan to save their family from the humiliation that their relationship could have caused. If Shivali went to the media with this story, the family businesses of both Nandita and Punit’s families would become rubble.
Punit was thinking these thoughts as he got to Shivali. His pent-up anger bubbled forth, and as soon as Nandita had completely turned Shivali and let go of her, Punit gave her a hard shove.
Shivali stumbled backward, but her heels caught on something and she tumbled over the railing and into the sea.
Nandita turned to Punit, “Will that kill her?”
“It will. There is no way she will survive the sea. Even if she survives the impact, she will not be able to swim long enough to get to the shore from here.”
“If she lives, it will not be good for us.”
“I know. That is why I did it.”
Nandita nodded, and started smiling again.
This is why Punit was in love with her. She was so easy to please and would do anything that Punit asked from her.
Punit put his hand on Nandita’s belly and thought about the news she had given him. They were pregnant!
While he panicked at first at the news, Nandita assured him that she was controlling Harsh well enough that if she told him that she was pregnant he would immediately adopt the child as his own. While it would be painful for him to let another man touch his precious Nandita, it was the only way to hide his relationship with Nandita.
At least he was able to have Nandita all to himself till she got married to another man.
Punit hated the fact that he would have to share Nandita with Harsh after her marriage, but Harsh was his best bet. Among the elite of this country, Harsh was one of few people who treated women with respect and would not have tried anything non-consensual with Nandita. He could probably still have Nandita mostly to himself, with how gullible Harsh had been till now.
Only person who could influence Harsh, other than Nandita, was Shivali. Now that Shivali was dead, Harsh was practically in the palm of their hands.
Punit squeezed Nandita to his side and started walking towards his car. They celebrated their baby and Shivali's death the rest of the night.
