Jedrek was looking out the window as Alesia drove her car. They passed the woods, and now we're on the open road. Jedrek felt the breeze hit his face, and he enjoyed the feeling.
Alesia would take glances at him and smile. She was happy that Jedrek was at peace and enjoying the taste of freedom.
"So, you said that we are going to a town. Is that where there are many people?"
"Yup, there are people, animals, stores, and other things. I want to tell you that you can't tell anyone what you are. Some people may think you're crazy or will be suspicious of you, resulting in unwanted attention."
Jedrek nodded. "Understandable; I want to have at least some freedom."
Another hour passed, and they both arrived at the nearest town. Jedrek was in awe at its beauty: the people, the buildings, everything. He always dreamed of seeing it, and now it has become a reality. "I have never seen a place so beautiful."
"There are other places that are bigger and more beautiful than this. There are so many things to explore."
"Still, no matter if it is big or small, it amazes me."
Alesia then parked her car on the side of the street, and they both got out. Jedrek saw many people in shops and restaurants, or walking their dogs. He felt as if he was in heaven. He then felt Alesia's hand on his shoulder. "Come on, let's have a quick bite to eat."
She then led him to a small ice cream store, and Jedrek saw many flavors he could smell with his intense sense of smell. He liked the smell of many, but there were some that he was not too fond of. Alesia ordered a double scoop of mint chocolate chip and rocky road. Jedrek looked and smelled the scents and made his decision. He saw the names of each flavor. "I-I would like cookies and cream and the recess ice cream."
The owner served Jedrek's ice cream to him, and Alesia paid for them using her credit card. She then led them to a table outside the shop, and both began to eat their ice cream.
Jedrek savored the cold, delicious flavors of the ice cream, and never in his life had he tasted anything so sweet.
Alesia watched as he ate his ice cream while savoring the moment. She thought it was an adorable sight to see. Alesia wanted him to give and show him more freedom. Alesia wanted him to be happy, and she was going to do everything in her power to make it happen and help him entirely escape those scientists.
The two finished their ice cream, and Alesia took Jedrek to other places, such as the library, clothing stores, and food stores. However, they couldn't go to the pet shop because many animals either growled, barked, or were out of control. The animals sensed that Jedrek was not fully human.
However, Jedrek was having a lot of fun. Alesia then looked at the theater and suggested they watch a movie. The theater was known to occasionally show old movies, and Alesia looked at the listing. "Hey, they're showing Gladiator. Let's watch it."
"Gladiator?"
Alesia smiled. "You'll see." She purchased the tickets and paid for them, and both of them went inside the theater. Jedrek couldn't help but feel amazed at how beautiful the theater was and how comfortable it felt. Alesia then took him to one of the theater rooms, and they both sat in the middle rows. To their luck, they were the only ones.
Moments later, the movie began, and the two watched with eagerness. Gladiator was one of her favorite movies; she only hoped that Jedrek would like it. During the film, she would look at Jedrek, who was engrossed and seemed to enjoy watching the movie.
Jedrek is filled with anticipation in the part where Commodus and Maximus are fighting. Both died. One died in shame, while the other died with his vengeance.
The movie finished, and the two got out of the theater. "So, did you enjoy the movie?"
"Yes, that was my very first movie."
"Who was your favorite character?"
"Maximus, of course, but I couldn't help but feel pity for Commodus."
Alesia raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Commodus only wanted to prove himself and get his father's recognition. True, there is no excuse for him to kill his father. However, Marcus also admitted that he failed as a father. His failure was his and his own son's downfall."
The young woman nodded. "It makes sense when you put it that way, but I still don't like the guy."
Jedrek chuckled, and they both decided to sit on a bench to watch the people and observe the sun slowly setting. "I want to thank you for showing more of the outside world. Also, for helping me enjoy my freedom."
Alesia smiled. "You're welcome; I wish I could take you to more places."
"No worries, this was sufficient, especially being born in captivity." The two sat silently. Slowly, Jedrek put his arm behind Alesia, looking like they were a couple. Alesia felt his hand on her neck, and her face turned warm.
The two looked at each other, and their eyes met. They looked like they were in a trance as they eyed one another. Slowly, their faces were getting closer, and Alesia's phone rang when their lips were close to touching. Both cleared their throats, and Alesia answered the phone.
Jedrek felt annoyed that their moment was interrupted.
Alesia finished with the phone call. "It was Leo; his buddy is at his house and wants to meet us."
