I didn’t mean to fall.

Not that day.

Not in the bookstore aisle where dust and quite were supposed to protect me.

You asked where poetry section was.

I pointed. you smiled.

And I swear-

That was the first crack in my armour.

You smelled like coffee and unfinished dreams.

Talked like someone who had read too many love stories

And never believed they’d live one.

But that day I wondered:

What if I’m your plot twist.

Stupid Stars

We laughed about the weather.

Talked about how music is the only honest thing left in the world.

You said your favourite songs were sad ones.

I should’ve taken that as the warning.

The night, sky blinked twice.

I thought maybe

The stars were trying to tell me something.

Maybe they knew-

You’d become

The storm I’d write poems about.

“We never realize the moment something begins to matter-

Until it’s already everything.”

I didn’t know your name.

Didn’t ask.

But something about you

Made me feel like I was already known.

Like we had met in some other life,

And this was just the moment

The universe caught up.

You sat next to me,

Reading Neruda,

And I didn’t even pretend to turn the page of my book.

I just watched you read

Like it was sacred act.

And somehow,

That’s how it all started.

In silence.

With a stranger

Who felt like home.

You made me laugh

On a day I swore nothing could.

I remember it so clearly-

My ribs ached,

Not from sadness,

But from joy.

That laugh didn’t escape me.

It turned a part of me

That had been hiding.

For a moment,

The world didn’t feel heavy.

It felt like you.

I’d say universe placed you in front of me

How to fall.

And how to break.

And how to write about ache

In ways no one else could.
