The picture above is of Elinor Powell Albert and her husband Frederick Albert. They met during World War Two at a POW camp in America for captured Nazi soldiers. She was an African American nurse and he was a former Airborne soldier for the German army. Despite incredible odds from every angle, they were happily married for 54 years until Frederick's death in 2001.
