You flood me

And set me on fire –

All these emotions.

You have me so high on love,

My hopes way up –

A helium balloon in the sky

And you’re holding on to me.

But then you stop and stay

And let me go

Let me float away

And you watch as I realize

I’ve been popped,

And you have broken me

And brought me crashing down

Hard into the ground

With barely a sound

Except for the silent tears

That keep streaming

And yet they should stop falling

Like the way I fell for you

Because we weren’t built sturdy;

We were made up of false hopes

And romance and blinded

By the idea of love we thought we had

When it was just a way

To get me to stay

And in reality,

All you did was

Push me away.
