It’s was midnight when the phone ring waking Joe from his sleep, joe started going to the living room while mumbling to pick up the phone.
Joe says “ Hello” with deep raspy voice.
“Hi my name is Dr Paul Smith, I’m calling from Heston Hospital, may I speak with Mr Joe Braxton”? Says the caller.
“Yeah speaking !!!” says Joe while he is wondering why the hospital calling him this time, and the first thing that came to his mind was his childhood friend Matt because there where couple times that his friend was admitted to the hospital for drug overdoses.
Dr Paul “ Mr Braxton I’m calling because you’re the second emergency contact that we have for Mr Matt Dale, we tried to contact his wife but Ms Dale isn’t picking up her phone. He was admitted to our hospital for Heroin overdose and it will be great if you can come to the hospital”. “I will be there shortly” Joe says with a shaky voice.
The hospital was only twenty five minute away from him and the roads were empty at this time of the night, while he was driving Joe was thinking about his friend because he promise him to stop using drugs and he was attending drug therapy sessions for the last three years, and he was happy with his wife and his two kids-boy and girl- which made Joe confused. Joe met his friend this morning and they had coffee together talking about their old days and how much fun it was and how much he missed living the same city with his friend.
Matt moved out from Kansas to Seattle after his marriage to his wife Samantha Dale, and he started working as an activities Director for Organisation called rehabilitation institute for drug addicts {RIDA}.
At this point Joe arrived the hospital and rushed to the emergency and he asked the reception where his friend is.

“Hi I’m here for Matt Dale do you know which room is he in” says Joe “ Are you Mr Joe Braxton” says the receptionist. Joe “yes it’s me”. “Welcome Mr Braxton he is in room 19, go straight at the end of the lobby then turn to your right and you will see the room , and doctor Paul is there already checking with him” says the receptionist.
Joe started walking toward the while he is replaying the scenes from last time when he was here in his head remembering that his friend almost died from that overdose. Joe knocked the door and reached the handle to open the door and he saw his friend laying on the hospital bed and there is mechanical ventilator- is used to assist the function of the lungs- and Electrocardiogram on him to track his heartbeat . He thought he is sleeping and stood at the door for while telling himself he is ok.

he asked “ Is he going to be ok doctor”. “He was admitted on here for heroin overdose and that activited something called opioid receptors which led to increase his heart rate rapidly, we tried to intervened by gave him Naloxone -Medication that used to prevent the heroin overdose- we managed to save his life but The heroin damaged some part of his brain” Joe talked over the doctor in shock and said “so are you saying he is brain dead.” 230Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡ00Wl3RnltU
The doctor said “ no, partially and he is in coma right now and we don’t know when he is going to wake up from it. Sorry to inform you that, we tried our best.”
Joe was in shock and there were thousand thing going through his mind, He was thinking about how he will going to tell this to Matt’s wife, kids, and his parent as well.
While Joe was thinking about how to break the news for Matt’s wife the police came in to the hospital to check and report the incident. The police officer knocked the door, “come on in” says Joe. The police officers came in and one f them said “Hello, sir I’m officer Shaun and this is officer Leon do mind if we step outside the room to ask you some question”. “He is my Friend” answered Joe. Then the officer asked him if he was with him or if he knows what happened to Matt, and Joe told the police officers all what he knows. Then officer Leon reached out his pocket and took out a card with his contact information and said “Mr Braxton that’s us we will launch an investigation to find out what happened, let’s know if you remember anything else”.
When the officers leaved Joe called Samantha and told her the bad news and which hospital they’re in, Straight away Samantha start booking flight from Seattle to Kansas rushing to see her beloved husband.
Joe hears knocking on the door and he opens it up to see it’s the nurse “ sorry Mr Braxton I just want you to singed this form declaring that you’re responsible of Mr Dale’s belongings. Joe singed the form and the nurse handed him the belongings of Matt.
After sitting a while Joe started thinking again why would Matt do this, the happy and smiley man that he saw this morning didn’t look like a man who doing drugs. Joe started checking Matt’s phone. Couple minutes past trying to figure out the password, and he finally guessed it right which was The date when Matt stopped using drugs because he fell in loves with his wife.
