Uh I'm not really great at this self-introducing stuff. I'm here to hopefully get better at writing, and even better at reading.

Hoping to finish MAR before the end of fall (as if that could happen.) I've written the whole story, I'm just locked in the process of editing and posting it. (And drawing some characters, hehe.) Editing. Oh my goodness................

I really love listening to everyone's ideas. I'm into anything really, but I might have a soft spot for creative nonfiction. Is that a thing here? But fantasy and children novels are genres I gravitate to.

I like to draw, not that I'm very good at it. Most, if not all, of the pictures I'll post, whether it be character profiles or book covers, will be things I've drawn myself.

Anyway, tell me about your cats, your dogs, your hamsters, and tortoises. Most of all, tell me about you, your stories, and your dreams. Never let them fade. :)

This is less of a contest, and more of a whole lot of fun, but this was the only way I could get a ton of writers on one prompt. I'm pretty bummed that it has to be a contest, you're all winners in my book, mais, c'est la vie.

So, here it is. The challenge today is: Quick Writes! You are allowed 3 minutes to write to your heart's content about whatever pops into that creative, magnificent mind of yours. Time yourself, have someone else time you, ask Siri to time you! You're only allowed 3 MINUTES. If the timer stops in the middle of a sentence, finish that sentence, and write nothing more!

But, here's your catch: your quick write has to be based off the last sentence of the previous issue! That's right! THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE PREVIOUS ISSUE! Bonne chance!

---

THE FIRST ISSUE gets the chance to choose the beginning of their quick write from any of the starters listed below:

1. It sounded like violin music, but it was coming from the basement...

2. There's only one thing in the world I'm afraid of...

3. They sat next to each other on the train, still pretending to be complete strangers...

4. At first, I thought it was the cat, but it was...

5. There was only one way to keep her quiet, and it was going to cost us...

---

Make your last sentence bold, italicized,  underlined, CAPITALIZED, or even insert a

  horizontal line bar

to separate it from the rest of your work. Just make sure it's easily distinguishable from the rest.

Remember contestants, you CANNOT read anyone else's issue EXCEPT for their LAST SENTENCE. We can all enjoy the promisingly majestic story after the contest is over. :)

So, I think this would be the most efficient and organized way to attempt this. First, those who wish to write should join as a challenger. Then, comment with 'First' if you are first to comment for a spot. Then, comment 'Second' if you are second to comment for a spot. Then, comment 'Third' or 'Fourth' or 'Fifth' ect ect, in accordance to when you managed to comment. Whomever commented 'First' is our first quick write and is allowed to choose a topic. Whomever commented 'Second' bases their quick write off of the last sentence of the previous issue (the 1st issue.) Whomever commented 'Third' bases their quick write off of the last sentence of the previous issue (the 2nd issue) and so on and so forth.

If it is your turn to write, please don't dawdle. There might be others anxious to write after you. No one has to fuss over grammar and spelling. You only have 3 minutes, so don't worry about it. This is more for fun than a competition, but I hope it also challenges you. :)

That was a lot to cover, and I am positive that there are still holes in my explanation. If anything didn't make sense, and you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

I know, what a long contest explanation, right?! But this can only truly succeed with the honest system and working together as a community. After all, we aren't just a hodgepodge of wishful writers, each desperate to be the most popular read or have the most fans. We're Penana. We ARE a community of writers and, most of all, friends, and I know we can pull this off with flying colors!

So, you! Yes, YOU! Join as a challenger to this controlled chaos, and write like your fingers caught fire! What have you got to lose?
