Ben had gotten tickets to a romance/adventure movie. There was a bit too much swearing and shooting for my taste, but other than that, it was okay. We sat in the back. For a little while I forgot I was a date and that Steven was sitting next to me, and just watched the film. About half an hour in, I felt somebody squeeze my hand. It didn’t feel good like they described in the movies. Steven's hand was sweaty and after a few minutes so was mine. I acted as if I hadn’t noticed. It took all my willpower not to pull away my hand, but I didn’t want to offend Steven. I would tell him later, in the car. I reminded myself. After that it was hard to concentrate on the movie and, to be honest, I didn’t really care anymore. My thoughts were circling around Adam. I tried imagining that the hand holding mine belonged to Adam, that he was sitting right next to me, but I couldn’t keep it up for long. Adam and Steven were just two too different people.
